Perfect weather with the most over booked pace of play you could imagine
Weather was perfect, the staff was great and course was in good condition. Rest of the round was a joke; tee'd off 15 minutes late as the course had tee times set up every 4 minutes. We were 1-2 groups deep in the tee box on every hole and 4 groups deep on multiple holes throughout the round. After the 16th hole and 5 hours and 20 minutes we walked off completely disgusted. Course management seriously needs to adhere to a bare minimum of 10 minutes between tee times to aid in preventing these types of rounds from happening. It was anything but an enjoyable round at my favorite course in Long Beach.
Confused
The flag colors did not match the distances, but wasn’t that big of deal on smaller greens
I like the course but the pace was too slow for me.
Great shape
Course was In great shape from tee to green. Big Rec has always had some of the best greens in LB and today they lived up to it. The greens where so quick today I loved it!!! This is the way greens should be all the time to give you the feel of what a PGA play feels.
Subtle Challenge
Some of the best greens around the area. Best muni practice area in the region, Subtle challenges. The course looks easy but has teeth.

Great course excellent green as always must play golf course
Cool golf on a hot day.
The course was in good shape and pace of play was very good. Sometimes it can be slow what with the popularity of the course.Will try and play here when I can get good golf now prices. On a hot day it is one of the cooler places to play in the area due to being close to ocean.
Fun Day
Fun day. We got out early and finished in 3.5 hours. The course was in just ok condition. Fairways were getting brown in spots. Greens were well maintained.

greens were a bit slow, they were aerated probably a few weeks ago so it still showed but they were still fun to play on, usually they are fast, the fairways were in great shape, few trees missing since the last time i played but a great lay out

Municipal course
slow pace of play but reasonable price on golf now. Considering a municipal course it is what one expect for the price point.

I haven't played this course in twenty years, decided to take my son (who is new to golf). The lay-out of the course had stood the test of time, its still challenging and fun. My problem is the conditions of the entire course (except for the greens) being hard/dry/dead fairways and collars. I've never seen fivesomes with all 5 members driving their own cart. MOST of these riders drive right up to the green. Too many carts, not enough water, no aeration equals very poor conditions.
