Skylinks Golf Course

I’ve probably been in the men’s club more than 50 years. The fairways give me more roll than other courses. The greens are excellent and always kept up. Lots of rough and trees, but not grossly penal. Front desk people and those working in the cafe/bar are alway super friendly and helpful.

Fairways and greens in great condition. Bunkers have decent sand.

This Monday afternoon round was a bit slow though, as it took 4 hrs 45 min to finish.

Played an early afternoon round and made sure to have a cart since I knew we were not going to finish. Cart died on 15th hole and was far from the club house. Called the pro shop but staff already left.

The course is blessed right now . The rain was good for the greens. The day was beautiful so the course was too. Pace was slow but sometimes it happens all in all it was relaxing. Got to conversate with the fellas. Thanks skylinks.

I like Skylinks because I get a little roll out on my drives. This course has Bermuda grass and rolls out 30 to 40 yards. The others have Kukuyu grass and you get no roll so plays much longer. Tough for an old guy. I like the distance or the holes as well. Pretty even. The course is well bunkered and has adequate sand in them. Greens will hold and are usually pretty quick. All in all and pretty good layout and when you get a good price on a game it can be a good value. Very friendly staff. Driving range is like all the munies, mats and mostly old balls. better to warm up and hit your own balls on the course in my opinion. All the munies need to replace the mats and get new ones and replace the balls yearly. They get plenty of play and they charge enough in my opinion.

Course in decent shape for no rain. Greens about 10 maybe 9.5 and very good appearance and roll. Fairways thin like other courses this time of year Bumkers very playable. P. O. P. Was 2:20 front and 2::20 back. Price about 57 bucks for non long beach residents before golf pass discounts. 2 playing partners said they would play again. Nothing special but our favorite long beach course. 7 bucks for small bucket. 28! Balls.

Course was good but grass was dormant as expected. Restrooms on the course need some attention. Very dirty and smell is bad.

I played here at least 5 times/year and the conditions typically are great. No different when I last played on a Monday afternoon.

We teed off at 12:50 and barely got in by darkness. Pace was pretty good until the back nine when a group was holding up the course with 1.5 holes open ahead of them. I wish there was a marshal to just get things moving along a little but we finished in about 4 hours 20 minutes.

Greens were running pretty smooth and about a 9 or so but really fast if downhill. Fairways were better than expected with lusher grass than normal with the typical dormant fairways. Bunkers were a little inconsistent- some heavy and some thin.

We started our tee time 15min earlier than scheduled which was a great thing, but during our round we encountered a group that was holding all the groups back. This group kept hitting 3 balls each off the tee and were unable to maintain a consistent pace. We notified the Marshall and when he came out to address the concern, he mentioned that it was ok and that he can’t speed them up. We were shocked at this response. We got held back on several holes and were unable to finish our round. At each tee box, there were at least 2 foursome groups waiting to hit before it was our turn and on the par 3s we counted 3 foursome groups waiting before our turn to hit. This is definitely unacceptable and needs to be corrected.

Course was in great shape. Greens were running smooth but not terribly fast. Fairways were a little fuller than normal for this time of year when they typically go dormant. We teed off at 12 pm and finished by 4:15 on a Tuesday afternoon. Will come back for sure. I found a hot deal for about $50/person ith cart which was reasonable for that time of day.
