Tahoe Donner Golf Club

About
Located high in the Sierra among towering pines and meandering creeks, Tahoe Donner Golf Club is a scenic mountain course that is a member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. The front nine of the golf course moves clockwise while the back nine moves in reverse, providing an interesting change of pace. The unique layout features narrow fairways that are lined with trees and large, undulating greens that putt true and fast. There are bunkers strategically placed throughout and a water hazard comes into play on the last hole. Dramatic elevation changes afford views of the mountainous countryside and the abundant wildlife that call Tahoe Donner Golf Club home.

Fantastic course
A must play for the area. Good conditions, friendly staff, and a fair but challenging course.
Could be better
We had a 4 some and had to wait on an ancient couple on every shot 1 through 9. So glad they quit. Last 9 was fun. Greens are slow right now. But golfnow.com price was right
Still beautiful
Unfortunately most of the fairways and tee boxes were irratted and the plugs were left on the course. The greens were exceptional. Other then the plugs it is still my favorite course in the Tahoe area.
Nice Mountain Course
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The starter went out of his way to explain the course lay out and make a recommendation as to which tees to play.. Most fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Wildlife viewing was an added bonus: Coyotes, deer, and a set of huge bear paw prints going right through a sand trap.
Wonderful time. Beautiful course. Pace of play could be better but it was Saturday
Loved this course!
What a beautiful setting in the Tahoe forest! Great staff, practice facilities and the course was in great shape. I’ll be coming back to visit and play again.
to much hype
Tahoe Donner has been advertised as having been redone from the old course, only change is new greens but still the same course layout. Prices have been raised by about 1/3 rd.
Great course! Greens are little slow which I didn’t mind would love to play here again!
Horribly Slow Greens and Pace
The greens were the slowest greens I've ever played. Downhill putts would stop when they shouldn't, putts would stop on breaks. Horribly frustrating to play since there's no way to judge the speed. Also, pace of play was very slow because of a men's club tournament. They should have left a block of tee times open between the last men's club group and public to help with pace.
Tahoe Donner Golf Course
Weather was great. Course in good shape. Group in front of us very slow; 3 holes open in front. Marshall came by and assisted us moving up. Great idea. The rest of the play was wonderful. Nobody in front and nobody in back! Doesn't get better than that!
Wanted to see the renovation that was done
I was a little disappointed that they removed trees that were in play. They opened up some landing areas and opened up room around some greens.
Greens were not completely grown out but on their way to looking good. As a previous member, the greens needed to be redone, they were sloping real badly. Glad this was done.
Some fairways were not looking good, dandelions and weeds are growing badly, even the first tee was filled with dandelions?
This course is a great fun play with elevations and challenging holes. The renovation was not as good as I had hoped, but still overall this is a good track.
To be fair, there is still a lot of growth going on with the new areas and that will improve over the year.
They will need a lot of water, many hot spots already showing on the new surfaces.
Customer service and the restaurant are top notch.
Almost ready for prime time
The $2-million renovation was ongoing the day I played. The greens looked great, but were ultraslow. Two holes played as temporary par 3s. Once they open (I'm told by the end of June) and the greens are cut, Tahoe Donner will be ready to compete with the area's top courses.
It's got an incredible setting and some fun surprises, like trees in the middle of the fairway, a periscope on no. 18 and a foursome of greens sunken below the fairways on the front nine. Save some time for post-round food and drinks in the clubhouse.
