Ojai Valley Inn

Played on a basically empty course today in perfect 70 degree weather. Ojai is extremely challenging, especially around and on the greens. The scenery is unbelievable, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I don’t have a single complaint other than I don’t get to play it again tomorrow. Outstanding golf experience all around.

Fun course to play. Strategic layout, you can’t use your Driver on every hole. The greens are quite small and fast. If you’ve never played you can get a cheat sheet from the starter, giving you tips on strategy.

Rode the blues in 4 hours teeing off at 12. Staff here is always fantastic. I’ve played here over 10 times and have never had a bad experience. Course was empty due to the weather. Tee boxes were level, fairways were in good shape. Greens were excellent, most traps were flooded. I recommend this course on a hot deal.

Layout is not bad but you'll have no clue where to hit a ball and which club you need to pull out for the first two holes. A golf cart has a monitor but it does not show a picture with yardage about holes. They just made the greens extremely fast so as to ruin your game by taking advantage of downhill and uphill slopes. Fairways are well maintained. I DO NOT recommend you play there unless you have an opportunity to visit the nice Ojai town. The fair price is $50 at the most.

Great facility, Great Golf Course, in great shape. Staff very friendly and co-operative. Driving range and practice putting green very good. Great value

I had the course all to myself. Greens fairways bunkers and tee boxes all in excellent condition. Played 18 holes in three hours. Beautiful setting. Interesting layout. Lots of golf history.. I’m planning to organize a group outing. I was impressed.

You have ruined #18, I think you know that. The least you could do was get the new tee box level, but that's not the case, so please fix it. There are some other tee boxes that need work as well. Some of them have almost no grass (17, 3, 2, 6,)

Course in average condition. Punched greens and tee boxes without advance notice from staff. Nine good holes and 9 destroyed holes from original design. Had high hopes and was disappointed, frankly. Clearly a hotel owner with secondary interest in the course. Go to Soule Park or Rustic Canyon

Big mistake moving the tees forward in 18 just to accommodate some wine barn. You have ruined a great finishing hole.

Great course. Lots of fun. Highly recommended if you are in the Ventura / Santa Barbara area. A little slow play on Saturday afternoon, which was not normal.

Played when they they were starting to aerate the greens so it was very disappointing to play on my birthday with my wife. Normally I really enjoy playing here. I don't fault the golf course for doing its due diligence, but I DO fault GolfNow for not making it more informative that it was being aerated and there was no discount if any involved. Yes I understand there was a little insignia in the corner indicating that it was being aerated but it's not very noticeable. BE BETTER!!

Ojai is like playing a round in heaven! The conditions were fantastic and the staff’s helpfulness and

friendliness were just spectacular!!

A classic George Thomas track in one of the best settings in Southern California. On this particular day, there were two tournaments ahead of me, so the round was unusually slow. However, I have played there many times and rarely had any issues.

One thing they could fix at the course is the sand traps. The sand is very heavy, more like wet dirt. Best to stay out of them.

OVI is always immaculately maintained. The greens are pure, but small. It’s not a long course, but a challenging one. The Inn makes kind of a big deal about the course being a George C. Thomas design, but there is very little left of his original design even with the addition of the 2 “lost holes”. The course has changed a lot through the years. I played there a fair bit during my college days in the 90s, and, frankly, the course set up now just seems very odd. It’s completely different than when the senior tour used to stop there. The staff is always great. We had problems with the GPS (even though it was very accurate). All the par 3s on the back were around the same length (190-200 yards).. in closing, you’ll be treated like a king at OVI, but you’ll pay a kingly sum as well. They want you to pay high green fees for a “Thomas” course which it really isn’t. I only ever play there when I get a discount as I feel the green fees are outrageous.
