Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,238-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Sill needs work
Course is under new ownership and still needs a lot of work. Clubhouse was not open yet, but looks like it will be nice when it is. The greens are very slow, can missing grass in some spots. Fairways and tee boxes need more grass and less weeds.
Not GHIN Eligible
Fun course. Decent shape. Would play again but it’s not part of the GHIN system so my scores don’t count. Get it included and I’ll be back.
Very disappointed!
Until such time as all renovations on both the course and clubhouse completed, I do not advise this course. In the current condition fees need to be greatly reduced and transparency shared about no pro shop, no driving range and no restaurant. Website deceptive and exaggerated for available amenities. Shame on Sweetwater County Club!!
Sweet water country club
The worst condition I’ve ever seen a golf course greens were the speed of the fairways, weeds everywhere honestly the worst course I’ve ever played.
Waste
Although the layout is great this course needs to be shut down and reopened with new ownership. The fairways are just poor and the greens are terrible. Hole 6 is a disaster as they let the green go and tried to cut a green in the middle of the fairway. This really should be a $20 track and nothing more. With all the other courses nearby, your money will be better spent elsewhere. No amenities at all!
No Free Beer
No free beer. Tight fairways/course. No free beer though. Definitely advertised.
First Time at Sweetwater
Greeter/starter was superb and friendly. However the plyboard wooden signs at the clubhouse don’t get your hopes up. When you’re saving on quality signs, you’re saving on a lot more. Course layout has so much potential. Reminded me of courses up north. However overall conditions were lacking quality. Tee boxes are almost all weeds, no grass. Some bunkers had minimal sand, some greens were scalped. Layout however is fun and with several par 5s, you can score. Don’t know who’s managing the course or club, but change them out. You have a potential gem and social hub there but not when you’re in deep cut back mode as you stop having vision.
Not Great
So this course has potential and it appears they’re finishing construction so no pro shop. The biggest things for me was the fact that they lost their liquor license due to address issues per the starter but on top of that they didn’t even have drinks, no water, only soda was Diet Coke, and no beer or liquor. For a country club that’s a red flag. Hard to play 18 in the summer without water at the very least.
The course itself had a nice layout, a lot of par 5’s which was nice but missing cart paths and directions on a lot of the holes. Every and I mean every tee box needs to be replaced. Not a hint of grass in sight. Most of the greens were in decent shape but a few were diseased.
Once they finished and fill the clubhouse and address the drinks and grass issues this club would be pretty nice.
Also golf now said if you take a tour you get a free beer or soda but that wasn’t happening lol.
Good bones, just needs a little work.
I appreciate it the layout of the holes in Florida there's too many flag courses.
Sweetwater-Getting Better
The course quality has been getting better lately. Fairways looking good as well as the greens.
Poor value for money.
Layout is cool, with elevation changes however most tee boxes are full of just sand and dirt with ineven stances, with trees overhanging unnecessarily obstructing your tee shot that simply need to be trimmed... Greens are full of bare patches andd crab grass, bunkers are either hard pan, almost empty of sand, or full of grass & weeds.... why? Such a simple fix.
Waay nicer courses around for kess, especially on the weekends... $60 is a joke for the condition its in.
Mediocre At Best
Greens getting a bit better, sand traps are horrible. Course is in need of a lot of attention.
