Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,238-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Built In the Old Days
This course was built in the ole days, yet it's pretty nice. Be careful on hole #1 because you have to cross in front of the green to get too the tee box on #2, course has a few doglegs that can cause trouble if you don't pick the right distance to hit the ball. Great for beginners or older golfers, walkers too. will play again some day.
Nice layout in central fl
Course could use a ranger to move groups along.
The conditions were pretty good and a nice variety of holes.
Greens were slow but fairly true
Good Turf
Good thick fairway grass make this a nice course for shots from the fairway. Greens are nice with consistent roll. The fairways are tight requiring accurate play. The condition of the overall facility such as the parking area, fences, and tennis courts are unsightly and appear to be neglected with some fencing propped up with poles. The pace of play was very slow. No supervision of the course with rangers or otherwise was visible. I got caught behind a sixsome and nobody acted like that was unusual. My recommendation to others is strictly based on rock bottom green fee pricing.
nice quiet course
Nice course with a great pace. The staff came off rude but besides that everything is was good. The tee boxes could use some work, there was some bare patches in them, fairways are beautiful ,and the greens are somewhat challenging. For less than $20 and got a bucket of practice balls, I cant complain ill definitely play again
Great day go golf
Playing here is always fun. The course moves well and can be a challenge. It is a course in the classic country club tradition.
this course has very smooth greens and challanging tight fairways
very smooth greens that hold a good approach shot, but tight fairways that require a good drive
Great older course
Tight course with large mature trees and homes along every fairway. Beautiful large well trapped greens in excellent condition. Fairways and tees in average condition. Back nine has some rolling hills to add interest to the course. Definitely one of the bargains in the Orlando area.
Greens in great shape...
The greens seemed near perfect to me. Rolled true, no rough patches.
Tee boxes and fairways need some attention. Some weeds/crabgrass growing in. Most tee boxes are uneven and have dirt, with little grass.
I got it on a hot deal, and my brother and I played in less than 4 hours. Not complaining at all, I've played here before, and would play here again.
Course in good condition. Greens a little slow
Course in good condition. Greens a little slow.
Enjoyable round.
I'd Play It Again - Greens Spectacular
A buddy of mine played here about a month ago - first time for him and he said he'd never go back. Too many houses, he said. Actually the houses don't come into play that much, because they are all protected by many trees. And many of the holes are very narrow and it's hard not to hit the trees - or so I found. Lost three balls from hitting trees. The course is really not well designed - too narrow on many holes; the par 3's are too long for the average player; and there are many doglegs which make for interesting target golf. But the one thing that would bring me back (if the GolfNow price was right) were the greens. They were some of the best I have seen in Central Florida. Play was very light and I got around in 3 hours. All in all, it was a pleasant afternoon. It is a beautiful course.
Challengeing course, need to play a few times to get it.
Overall the course is maintained and in good playing condition, it is a great value. The course was in good shape, there were small areas that needed some attention, but it rarely had an impact on the playability of the hole. The greens were in good shape and rolled very true.
The one issue we ran into were the large trees that sometimes hang over the fairway and affect some good shots into the green.
Not bad
Greens were in excellent condition but the fairways need work. Also I went to get sand to replace a divot from the cart and it was a bucket full of water. Overall not bad for the price .
Very nice
Course is in very good shape, fairways and greens.
I think it is one of the best value courses in the area.
My playing partner played the back tee's and many of the holes were extremely challenging, a real test of golf.
My favorite hole was the downhill par 5.
The soda machines offering soda's for just $1 were a nice touch too. A very enjoyable golf experience.
great narrow course to challenge tee and iron accuracy
enjoy playing here when I get the chance - take all my family and friends from up north to Sweetwater when they visit - they love it
ENTHUSIASM OF STAFF EAQUALS GREAT CONDITIONS
COURSE IS MOSTLY OLD FLORIDA FLAT WITH PLENTY OF LIVE OAK & SPANISH MOSS. BUT # 11 CHANGES ALL OF THAT. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST PAR FIVES I'VE EVER PLAYED. I BELIEVE THERE WERE ELEVATION CHANGES FOR THE NEXT 3 OR 4 HOLES.
Great condition!
The course is in fantastic shape right now. Greens are rolling great, fairways maintained. Tight course and challenging. Shot placement is key. Great value!
