Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,771-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

great gem of a course.
Just long enough to keep it interesting. Played there in the afternoon and had great time. They just finished aerating the greens so they are super smooth. This is my weekend go to course.
Beautiful setting, well maintained & friendly staff.
We had a great time playing, we plan to return and to tell others about it.
Best golf course in the area
I was a little skeptical when I was able to book 18 holes with a cart for $12 on a Saturday afternoon but from the first tee on this course was as well maintained as any Disney course for about a third of the price. The layout was very fair and the challenge was there is you weren't pretty straight off the tee. I loved #8, #9 and #11 particularly. You're a little close to some of the houses but they are never intrusive on the experience.
Great overall coursef for the price.
Good true greens. Fairways are in great shape as well. Only setback was the rain and the heat.
Budget friendly fun golf
I decided to golf Sweetwater at the spur of the moment on a Friday afternoon due to the low cost. I had a good time although it rain almost the whole round. It is a tight course that will take a few balls if you hook or slice your drives. Sometimes you should use other than driver. I would love to play again without the rain. The greens were in great shape. I will be back if I get another great deal on golf now.
A Shot Makers Course
This course demands that you shape your shots and is very tight! You don't need to Hit driver but on 5 holes. 3 and 5 wood off the tee will always leave you in a good position going into the green. The Risk is far greater that the reward as you are sure to find out that long is not good, as you can easily make bogey on holes 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 16. It's best if 1st timers play from the middle tees until they can familiarize themselves with the course. The food is delicious inside the restaurant and they have the great service. They do have a beverage cart and water through out the course. The driving range is target greens to work on accuracy before your round. Very large chipping green with and bunker area off to the side. Putting green is small but rolls true to the course. The fairways are clean and the greens run a tad bit slower than you may expect but its summer golf in Florida and it rains everyday. Had a wonderful time playing with my wife there and can't wait to go back.
Nice but frustrating course.....
This was my first time playing Sweetwater and although the course is in very good shape and very scenic, I don't think I'll be back. First, the positives: a great price on Golfnow, very good greens...a little bit slow but rolled true, nice layout with little elevation and only a few holes with water. Now for the negative and it's a big one: the trees are so overgrown that you can hit a shot just off center of the narrow fairways and many times you will hit overhanging branches and limbs. You can also be in the fairway and not have a clear shot at the flag - you'll either have to hit a low shot under the branches hanging out over the fairway or shape the shot around the branches. I was frustrated with the amount of good shots I hit but because the trees were so overgrown, I either found myself in trouble or lost a lot of yardage. I am a decent ball striker but this course requires precise placement so a high handicap golfer would really struggle. I think this would be a very good, challenging course if the large trees would be trimmed back so they at least don't hang well into the fairways. As it is now, I don't think it plays fairly for the average golfer. So while I recommend this course, it would be for someone with a low handicap.
All or nothing.....
This course has history behind it. It has nice tight fairways, and some challenging holes. However, are some things that need to be addressed.
1. GPS or Pin Prisms: Bottom line, there is none. There is no GPS in the golf cart and there are no prisms on the pins to help with a range finder. The fairways were marked with poles that didn't tell you yardage. In my opinion if you are not going to equip your carts with GPS (for range), then at least you should have prisms on the pins.
2. SLOW GREENS. In addition to being extremely slow, they were shaggy, and not taken care of. I believe that you could putt faster on the fairways.
Beautiful course. Great value.
I'm sorry to say that this was my first time playing Sweetwater. Sorry because this course, with it's mature Oaks, is beautiful. The greens were in very nice condition.
Great layout and service
had a great time when played, course was green and very well maintained. staff was awesome as well with great outside services. overall great day with the family and had a lot of fun
A demanding layout
The course is made more difficult then ever intended by the growth of their trees. Many tree lined fairways that will require imagination and often an iron off the tee to set you up to make your second shot possible.
Course is usually in pretty good condition, this day was no different. A few rough spots in the rough and early sections of fairway but nothing that detracts from the course terribly.
course was in good shape the greens were very challenging
Greens were very challenging and the course was in good shape
Super clean, super groomed, Excellent greens, great pace, no complaints at all.
Best round of golf I've had this year. This was my first time at Sweetwater and it really wow'd me at the condition of this course. Great carts, great greens, great fairways, great rough. I've golfed 6 or 7 courses in Seminole county this year and this is by far my favorite.
great course
challenging course but great and I would recommend to everyone
Pretty course.
I enjoyed the course. Not to many hazarded from the senior tees. I was supposed to play with my sister , she could not make it Managed to pair up after a few holes with a sociable fellow.
This course is a great value for the money.
The fairways are in good condition and the greens are in very good condition.
Sand traps are challenging.
First time to play this course. Will play it again. Good course for less experienced golfers.
Tight Course with plenty of challenges
The course is maintained better than most in the area. The fairways are narrow and trees line most fairways, so a straight drive is important. The greens are an average speed but in good shape. The have a good bit of grain so pay attention to it's direction. Out of bounds are on most holes. I like the 3 par 3's on the front and 3 par 5's on the back it gives you a chance to pick up a few shots. All in all it's a great course and I'd play it again anytime.
