Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,238-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Greens nice decent speed
The greens were very nice and the speed was decent. Fairways were good for the most part. A couple of tee boxes were under repair. But overall I would rate the course as a 4.5. I have always liked the layout. Fun day.
Let's play again
For someone that doesn't play often (visiting from NJ), this course was great for someone like me. My shots can become erratic but the course is forgiving even though some fairways are narrower than I like but it's not about me. Actually, it helps me focus more knowing I don't have too much room to work with. With the exception of 1 hole, the greens were well maintained. I can't say if there are too many traps but I seemed to find quite a few. Last but not least, the staff was very friendly and professional. Regardless of how I played, I enjoyed my time here and would definitely play here again.
SLOW
Course was in good condition.
Pace of play was BRUTALLY slow.
2 fivesomes in front of us(members)
course was recently private and now I think some members may not like the general public invading their course.
nice walking course
the greens on 17 and 12 were burnt from fertilizer but still rolled well and very playable. I really like the fact that you can walk the course and most of the tee boxes are close other than 2 and 10 you have a walk for the tee box but other than that all is our close.
Pothead Staff Member!!
After waiting at the bag drop for around 10 minutes, I was approached by the cart boy who was clearly under the influence of marijuana. Not only did his weed fumes overwhelm me, but his eyes were extremely red. He seemed dazed and was awkwardly standing there. I was incredibly frustrated because I took off work to enjoy a nice Monday afternoon tee time, and this pothead was slow and uncooperative..not to mention rude. I was surprised that Sweetwater Country Club allowed such an unprofessional employee at their course because all the other staff seemed very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, the fairways were tight, but very beautiful and the neighborhood was so scenic. I would recommend this course to a friend only if there was another cartboy.
Poor Course Management
Tee time was 11:25, our group (4) was told that at 12 they had a Couples League that goes out at 12 so try and be done with hole 3 by then. We teed off hole three AT 12:00 and had two groups lined up waiting for us to get out of their way. On hole 7, a gentleman rode out and told us that we were holding everybody up (we weren't) and asked us to play quicker. At this point we were on pace to finish our round in 3 hours and 55 minutes. Now, I'm all for pace of play in golf, but anything less than 4 hours shouldn't not be considered slow!
For the rest of the afternoon we were at least a hole in front of the group behind us without altering how fast we played. However, in the bar after the round, one of the players from behind us was bragging how he got management to tell us to pick up the pace and get us moving. Slightly frustrating that this was allowed since I was a paying customer as well, trying to enjoy a round.
In terms of the conditions of the course - I've seen a lot better. Greens are inconsistent between too slow or too bumpy. It was hard to tell the difference between fairway and rough most times and the tee boxes all need some TLC. Interesting layout but not worth the money I played for the experience I had, probably won't be going back out there anytime soon.
great for the money
Overall good round. Great price for a above average course
nice and quiet
played on a wednesday around 11 am, nice and quiet. greens and fairways in good shape, however, some bare spots on edge of fairways, a couple of places could use some tree trimming.
Trres
Many trees narrow fairways.some crossing fairway so horn on cart good safety measure
Good value with quick play
Pro: Greens and fairways in good condition. Course was not crowded; 3.5 hour round. Friendly staff. Good price.
Con: Course was very tight in many places.
Overall: Strange layout. Par 4's are all short. Driver sand wedge. 3 of the 4 par 3's are long. 180 yards plus. The par 5's are all in the low 500 yard area. Generally, the course played shorter than the yardage compared to other courses.
Above average orlando course
The manicure of the course is above average. Greens and fairways in good condition. Staff friendly and professional. Good value .
Expect a long day
The pace of play at this course, I have played twice, is awful. No ranger or staff to monitor pace. Really ruins a decent course.
GREAT COURSE GREAT SHAPE
PLAYED THIS COURSE MANY TIMES ,BUTTHIS WAS THE BEST SHAPE IV IEVER SEEN. GREENS WERE ALMOST PERFECT , FAIRWAYS WERE VERY. PLAY THIS COURSE IT HAS A LOT TO OFFER.
Excellent Value
Got a Golf Now Hot Deal for this round. Weather was a bit warm, but otherwise excellent. Played as a two-some teeing off around 1 PM. Employee in pro shop was slightly disinterested and we had to ask for the token for our bucket of balls that came with the coupon. He did ask if we needed the voucher for 2-for-1 drinks though.
Tee Boxes and Fairways in decent shape for Winter. Greens appear not to have been overseeded making them very fast and firm. Fairways are somewhat tight in places which makes for an interesting round for anyone that has accuracy issues. That said, there are not as many water hazards as one would expect in Central Florida. That is made up by the numerous strategically placed bunkers.
We played in less than 3 1/2 hours as a two-some, but on Sunday with a late morning tee time, it took over 5 hours for a four-some.
Nice course
The course was in good condition, there boxes were a bit rough. Everything else was good
Gréât course
We lire it And we coming back son. And good price Nice cours
Worth playing if the greens improve.
An ok course. The fairways were in good shape and the front 9 greens were good. The back 9 were brown, dead and terrible. I hit 8 of the 9 greens on the back and not one ball stayed on. Also, there is really only one hole I would call memorable. Most are pretty straight forward. Looks like the designers first course. Anyway, it was in decent condition (except again for the back 9 greens). I would play here again for a practice round or something if the greens were improved.
great greens
Par 3s too long ',trees on both sides, great par fours
