Sweetwater Golf & Country Club

About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,771-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Only good thing about this course was the beautiful cart girl
This was my first time playing a country club. I don’t think I will again until my 60s. I got sandwiched between two groups of 4 at a course that has never heard about pace of play. Constantly watching 4 guys tee off and then having 4 watch me tee off. Fairways were not the tightest but had houses on the right and the left. Not in great shape. Greens were half decent. Only positive on the day was my brief interaction with the stunningly gorgeous cart girl. If you’re looking to get in a quick 9, this course is not the move.
Major improvements!
Major improvements! The course still needs work, but the greens are actually greens you can putt on now. Some holes are still awful due to the hole layout, but still a nice place to play.
Sweetwater 9-holes
Played 9 holes at Sweetwater and must say the greens were in great shape and the course overall in really good shape. It’s a little wonky for 6 and 7 but all in all, well worth the price.
Rat Track…
course is like 20 lbs or crap stuffed into a 5 lb bag….
nothing good about this joint period !
Nice course
For the price I loved it. I think the back 9 can comptee with a lot of courses. Loved the rolling hills and tight lines.
Great improvements
This course has invested in themselves and it shows. From redoing some greens to having a new club house the effort shows. It’s a fantastic value for the condition as well. Would recommend this course to anyone at anytime.
Whewww it’s a challenge!
This is a tough course! Narrow and long. I played the blues and ot was a challenge simply because it’s so narrow and trouble lurks all around you. To be great here definitely work on your all around game. The greens were pretty decent and I felt like ran true. Few patchy spots. The gentleman in the Proshop was very nice and extremely helpful. They are working on the Proshop so it’s small with not a lot at all. The fairways are decent a little high on the sides but not bad. The layout to me was tough along with the tight fairways etc. I recommend this course, try it you will love it!
A Gem in Progress
I read some reviews before booking Sat 10/19. Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was clear the course is not in the best of condition. However, the club pro “Kevin” drove by and was getting input on thoughts of the course after the first 9. They made it clear there is a goal and vision to get this course back on track. Their priority being the greens. The things that stood out to me were a week after Hurricane Milton there was still a lot of debris and the rough definitely needs some TLC. The back 9 is much more fun the. The front 9. Hoping to play again in a month and see how far it’s come.
Hit them fairways
Off the fairways the grass is overgrown and it’s easy to lose your ball. Other than that it’s a decent course.
Good time, great value!
Very nice course; plenty of decisions to make. A senior, I played the gold tees and they were just right. Recent weather conditions had some effect on the course (Hurricane Milton!) but not much.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the main reaon for my recommendation. They are great!
If I had one nit to pick it would be signage. I had some difficulty finding my way around and, with no one to follow, it got confusing at times. But, I'm going back and I expect improved navigation on my part. Play on!
