Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,771-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

improving
needs work as does most things in this economy but will come back in a couple
months and see how it has progressed.
Greens and traps need work
Greens overall were pretty good except for a couple with a few bare spots. Sand traps were terrible and no work has been done and no rakes to fix after you are done. A couple tee boxes were all sand. I like the layout, but before you play ask the clubhouse about #6. It used to be Par 3, but after teeing off to what used to be the green we realized the green had been moved back to a place where it was basically unplayable. No one mentioned this when we checked in.
This course has great features
This golf course has a nice layout with varied hole designs. Houses are VERY close to the golf course in spots and the green structures were very inconsistent - turf was dead in a lot of places and very bumpy in spots. But despite the greens, the course was a lot of fun to play.
Good layout
The course is a good layout. Very short but challenging. Greens have rough spots, but are being worked on. Good value fir the money.
Nice Course
The course was in decent shape the greens were a little bumpy and needed work but for the price it was a nice course
Staff was friendly only downside was the gentleman mowing the lawn continued to mow when someone was on the green and the fairways throwing grass and dust on the players!
Interesting
Finding the club house is interesting. Interesting check-in process. I've never had to leave my driver's license w/the club house before. That was interesting. 1st hole, sand tee box, play 1 and then drive back to the tee again to play hole 2, that was interesting. Front 9 was alright, back 9 is a fun lay-out. Not sure I would play it again. But it was interesting.
Good course could be great
Just two points from our first time playing - a few greens need some love. When putting on green and it jumps from sand patches or weeds…
Second and more important is pace of play / golf etiquette. I know foursomes can be slower than a two some or single player. But when the group in front is taking 24 minutes a hole (yes we timed them) it can derail your game - hello 3 triple bogeys.
If this is a recurring complaint, a ranger could fix it. I’m not a fan of rangers but I’d rather be told to speed up my 15 minute hole then taking over 3 hours for the back nine behind a slow/inconsiderate group.
Coarse needs a lot repairs and up keep, place still under repairs
Well, the greens were pretty good, quick and slopey. Course was being worked on, more than half of the tee boxes were rough, loved the layout. Traps were pretty good, fairways were a mixed bag.
Get what you pay for
First hole tee is nothing but Sand, leaves a terrible impression. The course improved slightly as I moved through the rest of the course.
