Sweetwater Golf & Country Club
About
Sweetwater Country Club is situated amid the beauty of the Wekiva State Park. Sweetwater is one of Orlando's premier golf courses, boasting a challenging championship layout with some of the area's best greens. The classic links layout brings a taste of Scottish golf to central Florida. Mature oaks shade the golf course, lining the fairways and framing the greens. The 6,771-yard layout offers a good amount of length but it's definitely not a grip-it-and-rip-it course thanks to tight fairways that require accurate shot placement. The course is home to one of the longest par 5s in the Southeast, a challenging 625-yard hole that is aptly named the "Loch Ness Monster." The heavily tree-lined hole double doglegs around a large lake. There are some challenging holes but Sweetwater Country Club isn't overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Poor course conditions
Holes that have been altered to accommodate new construction are poorly designed. Teeboxes are atrocious. Fairway and greens are average at best.
Bad timing.
Course layout wasn’t bad, but the clubhouse is being renovated, staff and signage were lacking. Took a bit to find the first tee. Tee boxes and greens were in poor condition. Might be a better option at a different time of year.
Nice layout
Course is in good shape. Greens can be challenging. Back nine is especially nice with open fairways, elevation changes, and well-placed bunkers. New clubhouse should be open in February.
*OK*-course
Houses are too close to the fairways.. one family had a kids party and installed a bouncy castle on the side of the fairway ( not on their property but on the golf course ) so you don’t want to hit the ball like you would seeing children playing on the right side of the fairway.
Hole 11 and 12 are beautiful ( see picture )
Sweetwater Country Club
I was prepared for there to be no driving range, but there was also no putting green, so there was no way to prepare properly. First hole is a joke (200-yard par 4?), houses directly off the green, and the approach on 9 was even closer to windows. If I was a high-handicapper, I'd be scared to death here.
Conditions were OK, and there were hardly any other players on the course (Thursday afternoon), so pace of play was excellent. One hole had a temporary green, but that was OK.
This course was slightly redesigned some years back after they took out the clubhouse, tennis courts, driving range, etc., to make room for more houses.
Customer service
I set up a teatime for two. I had a last-minute cancellation and called and asked if I could just play by myself and get a refund for the other player. I was threatened with a lawsuit if I put a review on GolfNow. Just keep this in mind if you plan on playing here.
Course overall in good shape.
I almost cancelled because of the recent negative feedback on the course. There are a couple problems, a couple of greens need some work. Sand traps were not racked out and no rakes were there to fix them after you hit.
Near the end of my round there people working on them and I was in one after the work that was in great shape. Clubhouse was almost finished and the checkin was in a temporary location and the only refreshments was water and soft drinks.
Restrooms were available.
Fairways were in good shape for the most part, definitely playable. I will play there again.
Reviews that are so old are out dated!!
I liked the course and it was great looking course!! Maybe years ago it was bad but now they have built new pro shop. (Not finished) but can tell it will be beautiful!! Glad I didn’t go from past reviews!!
Challenging layout
Work being done to a couple greens. Great condition compared to others in this area.
