10th, par-5, 480: A tough hole that can be a two-shotter for the bold player. Water closely guards the green’s left side. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/14/2025

12th: Another excellent par five whose fairway runs through trees, along a stream on the left. The brook also defends the green, front and right. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/14/2025

18th, par-4, 405: A strong finishing hole that plays uphill and doglegs right. My three playing partners (Paul is on the right) are in the frame here. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/14/2025

Old favourite as good as ever
Gracehill has always been one of my favourite courses due to its layout with all the water holes. I was worried before I arrived as to what condition the course would be in as I had heard it had closed for a while due to financial problems. I pulled into the car park and it was empty not a good sign I thought, the office door was open giving access to toilets. The course despite torrential rain in the days before I played was in really good condition, the greens were really good and we had a great day's golf.
All in all tremendous value for the green fee paid.
Great layout needs some love
Lovely course - just needs a bit of care and attention. Has the potential to be a beauty.
£30 well wasted
£30/round? Not even close. This course has potential to be great but it is in shocking condition. Bunkers are like a quarry, thankfully didn't land in one. Plenty of pitch marks on the greens, or at least on the odd part which was soft enough to actually make a pitch mark. Greens have been repaired with mounds of sand. One of the poorer courses I've played, such a shame considering the great natural water features, etc.
Appalling
Stay well away. Tee's like rough, fairways like rough, greens not fed, maybe more long term problems. Paid £60 for two green fees. Definitely not worth half that. Were any checks done to ensure course was worth the green fee. No staff about either. Poor, poor, poor
Looks Unkept
We arrived, got ourselves sorted and headed to shop which when we got there was closed. It said to go to hotel (which isn’t close) which we decided against as I had reservation email on my phone. No electric or running water in toilets and nowhere to pick up a scorecard. On first tee we were approached by the most ignorant green keeper who tried to throw us off as my 8 yr old was with me as he wanted to see what a course looked like and wants to get into golf. The GKs attitude was somewhat “kids aren’t allowed” and he said he had thrown a member off the course for bringing their child with them! An argument insued at which point we said he was our responsibility and that there is nowhere that says children of a certain age aren’t allowed. Think he needs to concentrate more on his job and cut the fairways before 1pm, shorten the rough a bit and pay particular attention to the greens as they are shocking with huge bald patches, moss and thicker grass sporadically all over them. We made the most of it but won’t be rushing back!
Is it even open??
Arrived up and clubhouse is closed but on the door says to go round to the hotel and pay at reception. We drove round and the shutters where all down there. We went back to the course and looked around and a groundsman asked have you book on golf now and we said yes and he said play away then.
There was one door that was open for use of the toilets and to collect a scorecard but no water was running or electric was working.
As we got out onto the 1st tee it looked ok. Rough just needed a good cut and the greens need a lot of attention. All in all the round was ok. Lost 4 balls in the rough 3 of them only maybe 5 yards off the fairway rough very thick and long.
Played this course a few times and love it. Would hate to see it shutting down but that’s what it looked like was happening!! Very sad to see the clubhouse all locked up and no life about it!!
Challenging little gem
Some very challenging holes with lots of water hazards but not over long for high handicappers. Greens were dressed while we were there but still ran nice and true.
Only met one staffer, at check in, no pull carts available because the members take home the handles!?? No after golf bar or food.
Price up
Brilliant course staff etc but price should not go up because of The open in Portrush for locals
Great day out
Played 18 holes course standing up well although a bit mucky in some parts but not much, trolleys picked up a lot of mud and poor area to clean it afterwards. The greens playing lovely and overall great for this time of year
Wow
What a way to spend a summer's morning- brilliant sunshine and little wind; firm fairways and fast greens. This was great sport.
I booked online and from the second I teed off I had an exhilarating morning. The first hole is crazily challenging...length and height accuracy are never my strengths and both are needed here. Bunkers with ladders, elevated tee-boxes, alleys of trees, heartland, bullrushesand a lot of lake to avoid kept me challenged as I completed my round in 3hrs 30.
Greens and bunkers were immaculate.
Groundstaff were plentiful and courteous.
WELL WORTH A ROUND. Heat value and venue.
Hope you get a pro shop soon!
Nice setting for a well laid out course. Great variation of holes and challanges. Nice Ducks.
Really ejoyed this course once we found it. Need better sign at entrance. Facilities limited, no Pro shop, but this was made up for by the setting and stanred of course including grenns. Enjoyable golf.
