Enjoyable round
Course was in great condition. Greens were in good condition and pretty quick.
It is at least 15years since I played this course but the condition is at least 50% better. The greens are slow and spongy in places but given the rains until 4 weeks ago pretty good. The distance tee to green between some holes is tiring. For a council run course it is worth the fee.
Ancient Members
Course was in decent nick given recent weather, rough is a bit of a mess but that’s to be expected.
Our day was ruined by the groups in front, grumpy old men 2 in cart and 2 walking. Wouldn’t let me and my friend play through so we eventually just skipped a hole, one of the ancient relics shouted that “we’d better not hold them up” but I think that group was more than capable of holding themselves up. It was painful, and the attitude of the course members was an absolute disgrace.
9 minutes to look for a ball in very short rough, hands behind backs absolutely no hurry whatsoever.
Photo attached shows these 4 fine gentlemen on the green (they’d been on it for just over 10 minutes)
It’s 7.30pm here so I assume they’re just finishing off their front 9 after a 7am tee off.
Shouldn’t be open
2 hrs 40 mins for 8 holes. Absolutely shocking. Course was still waterlogged and only playing sporadic holes. Couldn’t even go out again for the second 9 as there were queues and at near 3 hours for 9 holes, definitely not .
Half course
Along with only being able to play half the course with alot of holes closed no mention on golf now about this need to update people and give them a chance to change courses or offer refund .
Very poor front 9 closed 10th hole temp green greens where shocking course should have never been open it was like a bog
Angry club member
A member of this golf club approached us after shouting from a distance when we were playing of a hole that was closed (12th). It was our mistake but once we moved he continued to walk towards us, repeatedly cursed and accused us of not using the matts we had rented. Even after I’d asked him to leave and continue with his own game he carried on f’ing and blinding so I had no option but to turn and tell him I was down listening to him. We then noticed him speaking to the group behind us once balls were landing next to us that were shot from the 16th when were teeing off at the 17th, one ball landing on the 17th winter tee box where we were stood. Won’t be back but I will say the staff member behind the counter that morning was very friendly.
Not a winter course
From hole 1 the fairways were extremely soft, balls plugging on every shot, loads of GUR markers out forcing you to walk through soft muddy patches. Have played this course in the summer and it was like playing a completely different courses. Would not recommend for winter months
Stay away
Usually play courses locally for £20-£30 range which never have an issue courses are in great condition as like to try out the odd new course every couple months etc This course was extremely in poor condition it was like a swamp really bad drainage, the sign postage was horrible the layout is terrible and the staff at the desk the lady was lacking any customer service you get what you pay for with £12 for a cheaper price honestly it’s not worth the money the amount of headaches stick with the higher priced courses as the staff are always friendly, greens are fast and courses are always in great condition will not be back!
Slow play
I appreciate the fact that members get first preference however when playing competitions the pace of play was very slow several 2 balls all grouping up on tee boxses waiting until the 4 balls had cleared the green before taking tee shots
Course was in excellent condition. Great value for money
Great course
They are slit cutting on the fairways at the moment and the ground was very wet under foot. Obviously drainage is an ongoing problem that they are trying to address.
Great space with lovely views, some extra signage for the visiting golfers would be useful, arrows with next tee etc
Will play again when the weather improves.👍
Wet
Whilst it’s understandable that the course is damp there is no apparent effort to maintain it. Leaves and grass cuttings over fairways and greens uneven. Tee boxes all infuriatingly not levels.
