Conditions had been better
Ok, this is my home course. I've played it many times and have seen it in all kinds of conditions. A couple years ago I was quite taken aback by how bad the conditions had gotten. Fairways were terrible and the greens so bad that they actually dug up the practice green to use as sod to repair the other greens.
Last year I was quite impressed with how the conditions had gotten so much better and the greens were beautiful and rolling well. But this year we seem to be going in reverse again. Fairways are currently pretty good but the greens are getting to be a mess again. Not sure if it's a fungus problem or seeding issue but it's no fun to be trying to put on.
The staff though are always friendly to me, the food is good and if you book the golf with lunch you are getting a good deal in my book.
My hope is they get the course back in to the condition of last year because it is so much nicer to at on with lush greens and fairways.
this course has POTENTIAL!!
After reading some of the reviews, we were looking for to a great game. We were to say the least, more than a bit DISAPPOINTED!! The tee boxes were terrible and most of the greens were patchy and 'diseased'!! Overall it was a disappointment.
Not a Good Day At Deer Run
The course is in very poor condition. The greens are very bad. We arrived 1 hour early and asked to start earlier than our scheduled tee time. Both the person managing the pro shop and the course manager told me that we could not start before the scheduled tee time since we booked through golf Now. Poor course conditions and poor customer service. Could not start early even though the parking lot was empty since it was Mother's Day
Nice course but
Greens were dresses and aerated. In fact, the whole course was aerated..just that time of year I guess. Still, front nine was very nice, long but fair. Back nine completely different; elevated greens, guarded bunkers, still long. Almost like two courses designers but would love to play it again when not aerated.
No notice
The course was front 9 only and the greens were sanded heavily, to the point they were unplayable,. There was no prebooking information to let us know and no replacement times or dates were offered.
GOOD VALUE
Overall the total package was a great value. Range balls to 19th hole drink prices. Traps needed some work and the greens putted good but with summer heat coming they appeared on the verge of stress
Different but interesting layout. Some like it some don't
I like to play this course when it is not saturated with water after a rain or so. Also, there can be some delays on choice times. I try to find the gaps when it is expected to be laid back. I don't like to be rushed or wait in line.
First visit, will come back
I drove from Mount Dora to visit this course, and it pleasantly surprised me. I used a hot deal for only $10.50 and I figured the course would be burnt or over run... but the greens were in decent shape and all the tee boxes were maintained.
The layout of the course was very hard, with lots of dog legs... but overall it was a great experience.
Good for the price
Not the best course in town, but challenging layout and not bad at all for the $
Deer Creek
Played many times. Staff aways friendly. Greens are not in great shape right now.
Nice Course
I have played this course a number of times over the past year. The biggest problem they have there is the greens. All in all they seem to be maintaining them pretty well. Short course but it has some challenging holes. Recommend it for a quick round -walking or driving.
Great Day
The course was in very good shape although two greens did not appear to be cut to the same length which did fool the entire group. Most were consistent and moderately fast. Most of the traps could use more and new sand but to be fair it had rained the night before. A marshall came by and asked players in front of us to speed up and they allowed us to go through. What a concept?? Overall it was fun day and the course was great and the staff very friendly. I definitely recommend this facility.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape, pace of play was not bad, 4 hrs and a good challenge
to score well you must putt well.
Some low lying swampy conditions. Overall challenging.
not as good as it was
Played this several times after course improvements found the conditions very good. Played it for the first time this year and was very disappointed to find it not in as good a condition.
Customer relations
It would be much more pleasant dealing with people who have good public relations skills. In talking with the twosome we were wth, they had exactly the same complaints as we did.
Challenging Grreens
I enjoyed the course. I did not read the greens well. Double undulations was interesting. Since putting is the best part of my game, I really enjoyed the challenge. Normally I have 7-8 1 puts. I only had 2, but I enjoyed the challenge.
wet
The course was in good shape, but had a number of wet spots. It still played fairly well.
I am curious, was the customer service "bad" because they didn't let you go out early or was there other examples of when you were treated "bad?"
