The golf course at Deer Run Country Club, which was redesigned by Ron Garl in 2003, utilizes its natural terrain of sparkling lakes and towering trees to create a picturesque and challenging layout. The golf course is also known for the immaculate conditions of its greens and fairways, which provide excellent putting surfaces. Deer Run Country Club features strategically placed sand traps, numerous doglegs, and water comes into play on several holes. The golf course, while challenging, is appealing to casual golfers and beginners for the beautiful setting and enjoyable, relaxing game. Deer Run Country Club is a local favorite both for the interesting layout and affordable rates.

Improved course
Went to Deer run after a 5 month hiatus was surprised to see the improved greens and fairways.
Course in a better shape than what it used to be in recent past.
Very good deal for what they charge.
Another great neighborhood course. It's getting in better shape everytime I play there.
Deer Run is a neighborhood golf course with the same features as most courses. Great value thru GolNow. They must have a new grounds keeper, it is in much better shape then in times past.
Great Course for a Frequent Golfer
This course has a really good balance between the course conditions, the difficulty, and the price - especially if you play a lot of golf. It needs a little work here and there (namely on the par 3's - the tee boxes are kind of torn up, but then again most par 3 tees are that way), but overall it's well kept. It also has a bit of challenge to it, but no so much that it would frustrate you, so it's pretty fun. The prices are good, usually $13 for 9, $20 or so for 18, for off-peak hours. During peak hours you usually pay $18 or so for 9, a little under $28 for 18. All this combined makes it great for a weekly golfer who doesn't want to go broke paying for it. If you don't play that much and want a pristine course, I'd try Twin Rivers (another Golf Group Property) or Winter Pines for moderately priced courses. However, if money is no object, I'd head out to Falcon's Fire or Orange Lake Reserve instead.
good fairways, very nice greens, but tees need work. overall, the course is in good shape.
had a golf & lunch special. pro shop people were professional & friendly and lunch service & food were terrific except for a poor review on the steak n cheese sandwich. we saw groups ahead and behind, but we were'nt pushed. considering the average age of our four is 81 years, a little over 4 hours was good time.
Challenging holes
CC at Dear Run is a great course, well maintained with challenging holes. The greens are in superb condition given the wet weather and run very true.
Nice couse friendy staff
The first thing that impressed us was as we pulled into the parking lot an attendant was there with a cart and helped load the clubs.
The fairways were in good condition and the greens were firm and true. We lost some balls since it was the first time we played the course and because water [small creeks] comes into play on most of the holes. It's not a" top of the line" Country Club but an outstanding value .I'll play there again !
great layout nice greens
lots of changing different holes good overall layout would definatly play again greens where well maintained and fast
course in excellent condition
The course is in great shape. I played 18 holes in about 3 hours in a twosome. The greens and fairways are in excellent condition, bunkers are well maintained. The roads around course are difficult to navigate due to construction, but I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Great value for the price
I have found Deer Run to be one of the better values for your money. If you catch it right you can get a golf and lunch special.
Good deal for the price.
This courses condition has been steadily improving for the past year, making it a pleasure to play. Good value for the price.
Wet after rain, but course in good shape
We played after several hard rains. The greens are in great shape and roll very consistently. Overall, a nice track to play. Staff was very friendly and cordial throughout the round. Several of the tee boxes were in poor shape, but overall, a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Great course for the value!
Greens were in beautiful condition!! Fairways were great, and not one complaint. Will definitely come back!!
The greens rolled well, but
The tee boxes, rough, and fairways were spotty and splotchy. The greens were in great shape! The ball rolled great. No bouncing balls or bad grain. The but is they are aerating the course 8/6 & 8/7, so who knows how long it will be until the greens are in this good of a shape again.
Good value, lots of fire ants though.......
The greens were pristine and a joy to find on this course. The fairways are OK and fire ants abound on this course. They really need to address that problem. No watering stations anywhere and no cart girl so be prepared to take your own, especially in these hot summer days. The traps were very wet and dense, some very hard and water filled. All in all though we had an enjoyable day on the course with only one group of 2 behind us all morning. Definitely will be back to play here again as the price was right for a decent course. It's no Disney course but a good choice for this area.
Great grooming
Greens were in great shape- the sand was tended and fluffy- only complaint, other than the boring flatness of all Orlando area courses, was the tee markers could use a coat of paint
fun challenging course for any skill level.
Well maintained, greens in great shape. Fun course with fun challenges. This is one of my favorite courses in the orlando area for the price.
Good course.
Good value for the price. Nice carts and tee boxes with greens that are in good shape.
In my own backyard...
For years I have lived in the community of Tuscawilla and not once had I taken the time to drive 10 minutes to the public course nearest to my home. When I ask myself why, in retrospect I'd have to say that it was because whenever I asked a fellow golfer about Deer Run, I always received negative feedback. If you have too, its time that you put the past in the past and negative sentiments you've heard out of mind. For many reasons Deer Run had a bad reputation but I can truly say that this should no longer be a stigma that holds you back from booking a round. This place is light years away from being anything like that other Casselberry track. You will not be disappointed.
I arrived at the course for a 12pm Sunday tee time. With plenty of time to spare I picked up a $6 bucket of balls (smaller buckets available for $4) and headed to the driving range. A simple but adequate range (behind the clubhouse to the right) where you hit into a large pond/small lake. It's well marked for 100, 150 and 200 yards. As for the putting green, it is to the left of the clubhouse and shows off the real nice greens that you will soon be meeting up with.
Deer Run is very well maintained from the fairways to the sand traps to the putting surfaces. Roughs are not very challenging. You won't find a lot of water hazards on the course but be mindful of where they are because they are not always immediately visible. If you can't always keep it in the fairway you may find unexpected water on the other side of blind shots. To elaborate more on the greens, I'd say they have a medium speed and roll very true. I don't recall any blemishes on the greens at all. For some this course may play short. Regardless, you will find that it still delivers and challenges. The front slightly more so than the back in my opinion. Bottom line though... it's a great course for all levels of play.
Onto the clubhouse... it is clean and classy and offers outdoor seating. The ladies behind the bar are very attentive and gracious. As fore-mentioned in another review, sadly there are no fountains or coolers on the course so grab a cup of ice water at the bar before the round and before hitting the back 9. I must say that this is a distraction and although not a major one, it seems like such a minor expense for Deer Run to construct a few cooler stations. 2 on the front and two on the back would do the trick. It's just too hot and humid to be without any water and on this particular day I saw no beverage cart either.
None the less, I can't tell you enough how happy I was to finally play here. Deer Run is a splendid public course to be played at a super fair price and for both reasons I will now consider it my home track. Don't listen to the naysayers.
As a side note, lessons are available and can be arranged through the pro shop. You won't find this mentioned on Deer Run's website.
