Eagle Trace Country Club

This was our first time playing at this course. From the get go, very well maintained! Classic look of the building from the outside. From the start, the gentleman that took our clubs super nice and informative. Nice Pro Shop, the gentleman inside was very friendly and welcoming. The course! Wow! Amazing views! Lush green.. and lots of water.. which I managed to stayed out of 95% percent of the time :). Tough holes, but large greens. Narrow fairways but lots of space… definitely will be back to lower my score! Thank you Eagle Trace for an amazing round!

Course is my home base while vacationing in the area for good cause. Playing conditions great after some recent and welcome precip. Greens firm and true. Fairways firm and fast as expected. Only partial negative is folks need pay attention to their own details (filling divots and repair pitch marks) like we all should. Staff always welcoming and friendly. Well worth your time.

This is a very nice layout which once was a PGA Tour venue.

Conditions have room to improve, specially in tee boxes, fairways and around the greens. Greens are in 8/10 condition and roll fast.

Pace of play is not enforced, there was a group two groups ahead of us that were holding every other group back, but there is no Marshall on the course who can push.

Unfortunately that has become the norm everywhere and the game will be again in crisis unless something is done. Instead of putting useless services, golf courses should be hiring marshals

Very nice layout with lot of water and difficulty. Greens were very good and putted well and fairly fast. Tee boxes need work and fairways and roughs were not great. Sand traps not very well maintained. Pace was ok but had 2:00 tee time and cart girl went home before finished nine. Clubhouse closed before finished. Driving range was terrible. $29 for bucket of balls and didn’t mention was irons only.

I was pleasantly surprised with the recent experience at Eagle Trace. As a former TPC course you can see the stylistic shadows characteristic of this design brand.

The fairways are generously wide and I’m sure in the hay days of competition, there were many more bunkers to negotiate than now ( btw- great sand and can make some good flip shots that land softly on some otherwise hard and fast greens)

There is quite a selection of tee boxes to choose from gold ( being the tips) at a robust 7k yards + to the red forward tees.

When play the Gold or Blue tees , the par 4 s are quite a challenge. Add the Florida wind and you must pull out all the power in your bag. The par 3s are also delicate to negotiate requiring a precise execution. I mixed it up between gold and blue.

The greens are fast and roll wonderfully true. Having gone long on the greens, I had about three twenty five - thirty foot putts that when I putted it out, they ended around 4-6 inches away from the hole … my read and speed yielded a great roll and outcome.

The flies in the ointment are the fairway quality and tee boxes are not in line with the potential of this course ( my impression was that the front 9 was worse than the back…I could be incorrect though).

11 am tee time with a finish at 3:45… it’s high season now in March but a Marshall could have been added to speed up play.

All in all enjoyed it and would return .

Eagle Trace continues its steady improvement. The greens are the best they’ve been in the last decade. Rolling flat, fast, and true. Maintenance staff has pulled out more dead/overgrown bushes and trees, especially around waterways. That removal continues to clean up the overall look of the course. Hopefully that trend continues. Would love to see the manager put some TLC into the clubhouse to really take Eagle Trace over the top.

I found the back nine holes really well done and of course challenging.

Great layout, fast greens that don’t really accept the ball that well, pace of play was ok, no marshalls on the course

Course needs some TLC for the $$ you pay, no real evidence of daily maintenance, maybe it’s the time of year

I am going back.. the conditions are the best in the area
