The Links Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is the ultimate in risk-reward golf. The architect, Tom Jackson, routed five holes along the bay and then wound the course inland across rolling undulations. In order to prevail against the blustery Gulf Coast winds, accuracy and proper club selection are essential, making it a true shot-maker's golf course. In addition to being right along the shores of the Choctawhatchee Bay, the Baytowne Marina serves as a backdrop to the course, providing even more stunning views of the Emerald Coast. Of the four championship golf courses that Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort offers, the Links is one of the original two and also one of the most popular. The layout offers a unique links experience that all skill levels can enjoy, especially since it features four different sets of tees.

Tough course, nice layout

Pros:

-Fairways and tee boxes in good shape

-Amazing views and beautiful holes along the bay

-Pace of play is excellent (4some finished in 4 hours on a Friday morning)

-Not as expensive as other courses in the area

Cons:

-Extremely difficult course - bring a lot of balls. Water left and right on almost every fairway

-Greens were terrible. Looks like they were punched weeks ago but never recovered. A lot of sand/ topdressing

-Bunkers were awful - and none were raked

-Driving range is mats only and irons only - very short

-Staff was very rude

One of the hardest courses I've ever played. Just no room for error. Don't play here if you aren't swinging it great. Can't miss a fairway or you're getting a penalty stroke.

The staff was very rude, or at least the ones we encountered. My group was putting on a hole and I guess the cart girl parked by our carts and waited for us. We didn't see her until we were walking off the green and we told her we were ok for now. She then said verbatim "OK well next time you need to wave me off earlier because I am just sitting here and it is very hot and I have other customers I could be getting to." That was definitely a first for me.

Second interaction was as I was leaving and unloading cart, I grabbed the trash from my cart to throw and try to be helpful. Employee comes up to me and says "Hey, go put that trash back in the cart, because I just put a new bag in that trash can." Another baffling statement by this top notch crew.

To finish off, I grabbed my wedge to just hit a few shots on the range before I left to hone in a swing feel I was working on during the round. Just planned on hitting 10 balls or so. Same guy immediately comes up to me and says "Sir, this range is for before the round, not after. You need to leave." I get that, some courses don't allow post round hitting, so OK. But I was the only person on the range, and it was mats only, so not like I was tearing up the turf. They could have been more courteous.

I've played all the Sandestin courses over the years and never had any issues. I definitely won't be playing here again. My advice would be play Raven instead - much better course, staff, and easier layout. If you can get on Burnt Pine, don't pass it up - it's a gem. The Links - very MEH.

Links Course - Sandestin

Beautiful fairways, well groomed. Tee boxes were perfect and challenging. The greens were sanded and watered, not quite the feel we hoped for, but this course was a great. Enjoy!

A good outing for the golf addict on vacation

Friendly pro shop. Helpful staff. Course was a lot of fun. Loved the views of the bay. Carts were clean. Fairways were the best grass in town. Greens..nice. Not enough trash cans or toilets. You better have a big bladder…cuz you’re holding it.

First timer

Really enjoyed playing at the links for the first time. Course and views were beautiful. Fairways and green were in good shape. The Pace of Play was the only bad thing unfortunately. Played the front 9 with my dad in an hour and a half but took nearly 2 1/2 hours to finish the back 9 due to waiting on multiple groups ahead. Loved the course and had a great time none the less.

Average but not worth the cost to play.

They were several greens that were spotty. Maintenance had tried to sand over them to cover the imperfections. The placement near the ocean is what really makes the course worth playing. The ocean views were really nice! Tight course - not for the errant driver. 🤨

Great views and a good price

This was my first time playing the Links. Layout of the course was challenging and enjoyable. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape.

Greens were hit or miss, they have been recently aerated and some were still a little patchy/bumpy but tolerable. I live in southwest Florida and the lack of rain has challenged even some of the nicest courses with upkeep and maintenance.

Cart girl was active and saw her twice on the front and back 9 which was nice since some courses either lack a cart service or it’s inconsistent.

I booked this as a hot deal at around $70 and was very satisfied. The range is irons only, putting green practice area was in decent shape and they allow some light chipping on it as well.

SLOW Play!

The back 9 play was so awful. We actual met the group in front and behind us. Nobody was happy. Finally called the club house..

Spoke w Tom and Jerry (real name tags). Was told if we didn’t like the pace that we could come in and get a rain check. Played out the hole and drove in. Passed 2 foursomes and then found the problem. They had a fivesome w 2 empty holes in front of them.

Went to pro shop, was give rain check for 3 holes instead of 4. No desire to play here again.

Links at Baytown

I am a member here and the links is definitely my favorite course. The greens are healing nicely now and putt true and the rest of the course is in great shape. If we could get a few tee boxes repaired, the course would be perfect.

Great layout, conditions not so great

Loved the course, but for the price not sure I’d fully consider it. I know it’s a tourist area and prices are higher (compared to Ohio prices Im use to), but I find it difficult to pay $110 on a course. Fairways were good but the two things I care about the most were mediocre. Tee boxes were pretty tore up and green we very grainy and not so good. I’d still give the course a 4/5 since it’s a course I’d play once just to see, but wouldn’t pay that high price again. I played Regatta and preferred that.

Course was very good

First time playing this course and thoroughly enjoyed my round. A nice blend of length and challenges. As well as some great scenery from the holes on the bay.

Would definitely play this course again.
