The Links Course at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is the ultimate in risk-reward golf. The architect, Tom Jackson, routed five holes along the bay and then wound the course inland across rolling undulations. In order to prevail against the blustery Gulf Coast winds, accuracy and proper club selection are essential, making it a true shot-maker's golf course. In addition to being right along the shores of the Choctawhatchee Bay, the Baytowne Marina serves as a backdrop to the course, providing even more stunning views of the Emerald Coast. Of the four championship golf courses that Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort offers, the Links is one of the original two and also one of the most popular. The layout offers a unique links experience that all skill levels can enjoy, especially since it features four different sets of tees.

Greens terrible

All the SanDestin courses seem to have gotten worse over last 3 or so years. Greens at Links had just been covered with sand so putting was impossible. There was no warning of this when booking and there was no reduction in price. Ridiculous to pay $100 for course in this condition and probably not worth more than $75 at all. This was a Hot Deal at $100. These courses are still existing on prior reputation and the tourist trap mentality. I’ll not be playing any SanDestin courses in the future at their prices.

beautiful golf course

I always enjoyed playing this golf course.

The staff were awesome especially Morgan and Billy. The fairways and greens are well maintained, and the sceneries are wonderful overlooking at the Choctawhatchee Bay.

Great Par 3

Provided you manage your expectations this is a wonderful 10-hole par 3 course that represents a great value versus other courses in the area. I recommend it to anyone.

Definitely the blue pill

Of all the courses we could’ve played, we played here and I regret it. It was like a zoo. All throughout the Golfing experience There were kids on scooters riding on the cart paths, The signature holes were littered with fisherman along the edge of the fairway and behind the green.

People that lived in the condos on those holes next to the tea boxes obviously had no concern or thought for the people on the tee (loud and boisterous) Best experience was the super kind guy behind the pro shop counter. The cart guy obviously hated his job because he would the cart up, slam the brake on and leave.

Go play emerald Bay, Burnt Pines, or for that matter, make the drive and play legacy or Baypoint. It was like being at a carnival. Extended golf carts were running around in and out of the course was absolutely free for all and the worst golfing experience I’ve ever had in Florida. The pace of play was horrible. The water in between the holes looked like a sewage storage pit. The maintenance on this course is in dire need of a refresh. The one positive thing I will say is that the layout is actually pretty cool. Be wary of the people teeing off on whole nine if you’re in reach of them on the Teebox of seven.

Links review

I enjoyed the course. If I’m back in this area in the future, I’ll play it again. The greens were good , but not great. They rolled fine. No complaints about this course.

I am a member of the Bay Town courses and it is frustrating that I receive this from you every time I make a tee time through our on-line reservation system.

Tough course, nice layout

Pros:

-Fairways and tee boxes in good shape

-Amazing views and beautiful holes along the bay

-Pace of play is excellent (4some finished in 4 hours on a Friday morning)

-Not as expensive as other courses in the area

Cons:

-Extremely difficult course - bring a lot of balls. Water left and right on almost every fairway

-Greens were terrible. Looks like they were punched weeks ago but never recovered. A lot of sand/ topdressing

-Bunkers were awful - and none were raked

-Driving range is mats only and irons only - very short

-Staff was very rude

One of the hardest courses I've ever played. Just no room for error. Don't play here if you aren't swinging it great. Can't miss a fairway or you're getting a penalty stroke.

The staff was very rude, or at least the ones we encountered. My group was putting on a hole and I guess the cart girl parked by our carts and waited for us. We didn't see her until we were walking off the green and we told her we were ok for now. She then said verbatim "OK well next time you need to wave me off earlier because I am just sitting here and it is very hot and I have other customers I could be getting to." That was definitely a first for me.

Second interaction was as I was leaving and unloading cart, I grabbed the trash from my cart to throw and try to be helpful. Employee comes up to me and says "Hey, go put that trash back in the cart, because I just put a new bag in that trash can." Another baffling statement by this top notch crew.

To finish off, I grabbed my wedge to just hit a few shots on the range before I left to hone in a swing feel I was working on during the round. Just planned on hitting 10 balls or so. Same guy immediately comes up to me and says "Sir, this range is for before the round, not after. You need to leave." I get that, some courses don't allow post round hitting, so OK. But I was the only person on the range, and it was mats only, so not like I was tearing up the turf. They could have been more courteous.

I've played all the Sandestin courses over the years and never had any issues. I definitely won't be playing here again. My advice would be play Raven instead - much better course, staff, and easier layout. If you can get on Burnt Pine, don't pass it up - it's a gem. The Links - very MEH.

Links Course - Sandestin

Beautiful fairways, well groomed. Tee boxes were perfect and challenging. The greens were sanded and watered, not quite the feel we hoped for, but this course was a great. Enjoy!

A good outing for the golf addict on vacation

Friendly pro shop. Helpful staff. Course was a lot of fun. Loved the views of the bay. Carts were clean. Fairways were the best grass in town. Greens..nice. Not enough trash cans or toilets. You better have a big bladder…cuz you’re holding it.

First timer

Really enjoyed playing at the links for the first time. Course and views were beautiful. Fairways and green were in good shape. The Pace of Play was the only bad thing unfortunately. Played the front 9 with my dad in an hour and a half but took nearly 2 1/2 hours to finish the back 9 due to waiting on multiple groups ahead. Loved the course and had a great time none the less.

Average but not worth the cost to play.

They were several greens that were spotty. Maintenance had tried to sand over them to cover the imperfections. The placement near the ocean is what really makes the course worth playing. The ocean views were really nice! Tight course - not for the errant driver. 🤨
