Hawarden Golf Club

Lovely course with lots of great holes, it’s was still quite boggy but it is January. Played here in the summer and it’s a great course to play

Only 17 holes available , the 18th is closed whilst drainage is improved. Course is quite heavy, 4 temporary greens, however given weather recently it stood quite, green aren’t bad for this time of year

Had read a few things and seen some course vlogs so thought we'd give it a go. It had rained a lot in the week leading up to the round so we had a lot of mud balls and it made it play quite long but the course had held up well considering. Quite a hilly course and some quirky holes giving blind shots etc but it was interesting to play. Playing a second time would help with some of the lines off tees and for second shots The 18th is a great little closing hole. Was good value for money and the facilities were good.

Played the course for the 1st time ...me and my son have only been playing 3 months, so if you are a new player or beginner its tough , but a nice tough ,first of all the course is fantastic set up and layout .some very challenging holes indeed . I loved the par 3s especially the 18th .its a very very hilly course , i dont think you will go many courses and hit a 9 iron and watch it roll down a hill to as far as a driver can be hit 😁.greens were in great condition. Fairways great and t boxes were good as you would expect . Definitely be back next summer when my golf hopefully may live up to the course .well done to all ground staff for the quality of al i can say is a rollacoaster course 😀.

Only downside was the tee boxes, everything else really good

Arrived at the course, seen the carpark was full! Bearing i wasnt teeing till 3, i thought it maybe quiet! How wrong was i! First 3 holes were ok to start, then i got behind one of them 2balls who obiviously not been playing long with one guy taking at least 5 strokes to reach a fairway! And yes it puts you right off and winds you up waiting which then makes you play crap! They never let me through which wound me up even more, so i came off at the 12th to with my amasement they had done the same! Just one of them days! Anyway the course is still as good as ever, though a little soggy which it always does there so be mindful of that! Good signage around the course etc. Ill go back again, but next summer and when less busy, maybe early morning would be best 🤗 freindly staff and other players who said hello...

Excellent day out playing Hawarden Golf Course but I will certainly hire a buggy next time as it’s not the easiest of walks. Course is really good with some picturesque holes that are really enjoyable to play. We will be back.

On arrival car park was full, (which was a good sign) girl in pro shop very polite and helpful, said I could go off 10 mins early if I like.

On waiting to start, spoke to Ivor Smith (ex captain and he and his wife been members 55 years) and he invited me to play with himself and his mate Fred.

Absolute gentlemen and a credit to the club. On our way round, the two explained everything about the course and was a sheer joy to play with these two top members.

The greens were absolute fantastic and great credit to the ground staff. Fairways were dry after recent drout but very playable., rough was lush and not too harsh a punishment.

Very interesting holes throughout the course which all in all thoroughly enjoyable.

Although the course was hilly, these two elderly statesmen for the club, took it in their stride.

First time playing and really enjoyed the course a mixture of all types of hole and shot selection was key to a good round. All greens in great condition only thing that let it down was some of the T boxes where very dry but how good the course was overshadowed the small minor fault.

The course was not too long and a reasonable challenge,it was in good condition considering the hot weather.I only have 2 small criticisms on the course,the tees need some work on them,alot of divots and not many 150yard signs on the fairways otherwise a pleasant day out.

We had a great day the weather was kind the course was in great shape and we will definitely be back

Had an enjoyable round . Greens are in great condition as are the tees and bunkers & fairways . It’s hard to stay on the fairway given the sloped fairways , but next time I’ll know better . Everyone seems friendly and really can’t fault the place.

Great course, some very challenging holes and great layout. Makes you seriously think about your club selection on the beautiful 9th tee.....I don't often take a 9 iron then a 5 wood on a par4 to reach the green but it was either that or risk the water in several places! I thoroughly enjoyed my round and will be back for sure. Only slight criticism I have was some of the greens were a bit patchy in places so putts bobbled and didn't run true....like my putt on 16 that was going in for a birdie until it bobbled which sent it over the lip and then didn't drop....a little bit more TLC on the greens to make them run true and faster and it would have been perfect.
