Baytowne at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

Nice layout. Front side went well. However the back side was a different story. Ran into a fivesome on 10. No offer for our twosome to play through. Very frustrating and surprising for a resort course. No ranger in sight. Also, several holes on the back on the other side of the highway not up to the standards of the front side. Overall, a good experience and would recommend. Staff was friendly.

The greens are in very poor condition. This is what pulled down my rating. The rest of the course is excellent. The course is overpriced even at Hot Deal level with greens in such poor shape. I hope they are able to recover as we like playing there, but we have no plans of returning until rectified.

Played with a member who was very helpful and friendly. It was extremely hot, however cool beverages were available and that was a tremendous help.

Greens were shabby. Some short grass, patches of weeds, ball marks. Unlike the last time I played the course.

Suggest you check with the course prior to booking.

There are some courses in Destin with faster greens and slightly better grass, but Baytown has the best layout with elevation change, ocean views, and just enough water in play.

The greens were horrible. The course is closing this week for maintenance. Not the time to play when this about to be done.

Fairways were great. Being on the green? Not so much.

Bumps, grass clumps, no grass, ball marks. Being prepared for aeration.

But if it were in better condition it could be a fun course.

Greens were in terrible condition. Many weeds in the turf, and poorly maintained.. Extremely slow and inconsistent. Greens status ruined the experience. Paid $100 to play the course, and had a $30 experience.

the course itself had a nice layout, Was not too difficult for my wife and step son who are beginners, but some of the worst greens I've played on. The cart boys told us after the round they had been punched a month or so ago and had not been cut since (I assume to promote growth during the hot summer months). Needless to say the were like putting on shag carpet. 2/10 would not recommend.

Sand traps were horrible and too few rakes for the number and size of traps.

I play all of the Sandestin courses regularly. The only knock on Baytowne is that the greens are slow and grain is pronounced. They're absolutely playable. If you've played on Bermuda greens before, just give the grain more respect and enjoy your game!

Entire staff was bend over backwards friendly. They took the time to give us a great overview of the course, amenities, etc. Course was fun with the right level of challenge. Price was reasonable for the area and course conditions. Most certainly will return on our next trip.

Greens were a bit shaky (but I think this is due to the excess rain they have gotten). Other than that, the course had awesome staff and a great layout.

Greens were trash, with a lot of thick unmoved grassy areas. This course is probably the lowest quality we have played recently in its price range.

Been playing this course 14 years when we come down for vacation. Generally it is one of my favorites in the area. I may have caught them during a bad period but the greens are not good. Rest of the course is in its typical good condition. But greens were painfully slow, worse than any muni I have seen in years. If you like them ultra slow, then make it to the course and you will enjoy. I still recommend the course and again, maybe I was there when they couldn’t mow the greens for several days. Right now, just be aware.
