Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Behind a 4some that took 2.5 hours for the front 9. Never offered or allowed to play through. No on course supervision. Played the back 9 in an hour. Greens were sloooow today. Fun course, nice conditions and always a pleasure to play. I didn’t mind slow play but it is a factor. Never acknowledged on check in by cart crew. When we interrupted their conversation they pointed to a cart we could take. Sorry to bother their discussion. Odd for this facility but again, it was real

Greens were slow, Course was just ok. Three holes were closed on the back nine and wasn't informed of this even when checking in. It was my wife and I and expected to play by ourselves but were teamed with another twosome that was very nice but we would have preferred to play with just the two of us. It wasn't that busy to group together.

Ranger issue

We were a foursome on carts. They sent us off 9 minutes early and right behind a smaller group. The starter then started the next group early and right on our heels. Our ladies were hit into twice. On the 6th hole the ranger came by and told us we were 1.5 holes behind and needed to pick up the pace. We played 9 hole in 2:04 so our pace was perfect. Not our fault that the group ahead of us was faster. Really upset our group and ruined the round.

Very convenient and great layout

We played as a foursome and very much enjoyed the course. Unfortunately there was a pair of foursomes ahead of us that slowed our pace of play and clearly frustrated the threesome behind us. The beverage cart was also a problem that day. A new employee was being trained and we saw the cart when we teed off on the 16th hole.
