About
Baytowne Golf Club at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is routed from the beach to the bay, providing stunning views along the way. The course rolls across the few elevation changes that the area has to offer. Although it opened in 1984, the golf course didn't reach its peak until it underwent extensive renovation in 2005, which were carried out by the original designer, Tom Jackson. The layout features rolling fairways lined with mature pines that are generous and times but can be tight when you least expect it. The large, undulating greens can also play faster than what you might be expecting. Water, which comes into play on 12 holes, is a prominent feature of Baytowne Golf Club as are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Great experience
Everything was very good. Very nice staff in pro shop and the starter was first class! Course was in the best shape I’ve ever seen.

Rough shape
Pretty poor condition. Looked more like a muni course than a resort corse. I didn't pay much to play so I wasn't that upset. Greens were scary slow, the fairways were not great either.

Driving Range HALF OPEN
EVERY time I play this course, only half of the driving range is open, so golfers have to WAIT to practice. ONLY one bathroom for TWO courses makes for a wait too.

Worth the money
Great Course. A little more expensive than Sandestin courses but in much better shape. The clubhouse is MUCH better. Greens are TOUGH. Get there early and leave time for some practice putts or you will regret it. Pace of play is a bit odd. You are fine for a while and then all of a sudden things get backed up at one or two holes. The staff is very friendly. Overall, really great experience.

Baytowne GC - Very Nice (except for Sand Traps!)
Baytowne GC is in really good shape! Fairways were awesome. Greens were very good (not too fast and definitely not slow). The sand traps (in which I was in many) are a real challenge. I've played here before and will definitely play Baytowne GC again. Soon I hope.

Immaculate!
While on vacation with some friends we decided to play a round of golf. We chose Baytown and I'm glad we did. This course is very clean and well maintained. The fairways were like carpet and the greens were pristine. Water came into play on several hole and the layout flowed well. Wouldn't dare walk it though but when we're in the area again we'll definitely play it again.

A good chance to practice patience
I was quite surprised to find that the 6some of teenage boys in front of us taking 5 1/2 hours to finish a round was going to be fun. We eventually just accepted the fact that the sun would be deep under the horizon by the time we finished our round. So we practiced our chipping and putting for 15 minutes on every hole and finished our round using bat like sonar to locate the green. Luckily it was a nice day but I’m not certain this is what I want from a round of resort golf. Can we get a pitch clock?

Would play it again
I played after 2pm and got the $71 twilight fee. I would not spend the full price on the course unless you just have to play in the a.m. to fit schedule. I just don’t think it’s a $100+ caliber course because of the age and aesthetics but it’s still a great course to play. The greens were really healthy and in good shape but rolled kind of slow the day we played. I loved the layout of the course (3 holes on the beachside and the rest on the bayside) with lots of water and bunkers. I will definitely try to play Baytowne GC again the next time I’m in Sandestin or on 30A. Very fun course!
