Northop Golf club
We played on Sunday lunchtime my 2 playing partners had not played it before but I have many times in the past. Considering the rainfall on Saturday (11mm) the course was in good condition, some fairways were very wet but you certainly couldn’t fault the greens which were very good and rolled pretty true. There was a mixture of temporary tees and main ones but it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment
My 2 friends were delighted with the course and we are definitely going to come back in the summer to play it at its best. We had a beer after and the clubhouse is excellent and the prices reasonable all in all if you planning to play in wales make sure you either play it on the way down or definitely in the way back very easy to find 100 yards off the A55 at Connaughs Quay turn off
More than value for your money
All greens in great condition.
Layout quality, the front nine no hole the same and abit more water on the back nine.
Fully enjoyed, and will be back in the summer.
Brought a couple of lads from Liverpool who said well worth the hour drive.
Played at Northop gc before so knew the course layout etc. Booked a single tee and was welcomed by a couple of members to play with them.
The course is being played back to front (10th is the 1st tee) which is good as it allows you to see when the tee is ready. The course was understandably very wet but you can see the major drainage works that has been carried out by the team at NGC is bearing good results.
Majority of holes were off tee mats which have been improved over the last 12 months and they were good quality, the only issue was you couldn't use long tees for drivers as the base of the mats were solid.
The greens were in great condition considering the rain we've had over the last month. They only negative with the course is the bunkers could do with an overhaul.
The main gripe was the speed of play by the fourball ahead of us, taking nearly 40mins to play 2 holes. Ended up skipping a hole to get infront of them and then had a very pleasant round.
Overall a good day out and would recommend the course to anyone in the area.
Cold morning
On a fresh damp Monday morning at Northrop golf club was welcomed too a very warm welcome from Tracey at the pro shop which at sum courses I've played you don't always get thank you, course considering the time of year played really well greens are true and well maintained , never seen so many ground staff on a course fantastic highly recommended
Nice course but slow play
This course is well worth a visit! The course lay out is quite interesting and you really have to think your way around the course, particularly on the front 9! Thoroughly enjoyable but on the day, there was an outbreak of very slow golf, which often meant we were stood on the tee for 10 minutes waiting for the green to clear! It was a Saturday and that might be the reason why! But that was our only gripe, which might have been just a problem on that one day! I would certainly go back again! Decent course, and value for money
Northrop Hall
The greens were being heavily sanded as I played although they still putted like lightening.and very true.
Tees were very bare and could benefit with being returfed.
Ground staff were busy throughout the afternoon but were very polite and courteous.
Saying that, the above didn’t affect a great afternoon on a course that was very enjoyable.
I met a member, Gareth, who joined me at the 7th, which improved my day immensely.
Some real interesting holes, on a fantastic laid out course.
When I return to the area I will certainly play this again.
Great course, terrible pace of play
Loved the course regardless of a poor scorecard. The big issue was the tee off times being so close to each other and attendees jumping holes, which meant average wait times of 10 mins teeing off per hole. 3 groups waiting on a par 3 is not acceptable and took 5 half hours to finish the 18.. very slow pace!
Really good course
Nice technical course a nice mix of long and short par 4’s long par 5’s and a few short testing par 3’s great way to spend an afternoon
Great
Fantastic parkland course with some challenging holes. Greens were in great condition.
Great value
Course was in great condition especially the greens. A mixture of shortish par 4's which need accuracy of the tees and more open and longer holes. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back
Excellent experience
Course was in great condition, greens receptive and true. No hold ups on the course. Excellent price.
