Bunkers in awful condition
Every bunker on the course is in awful condition. There is a veritable forest growing in some!! Obviously not maintained for some time, not even basic raking. They should all be GUR!!
Some ladies tees were uncut and you couldn't see a pink tee peg.
This course has so much potential eg the greens were in very good condition with lots of contours and subtle changes. The layout could be amazing....
Decided to visit the 19th hole in the adjoining Celtic Manor pub as the welcome in the clubhouse was poor.
Would we visit again....no...
Great course and great value
Nice varied course with lots of dog legs, lay ups and undulating greens. Course in nice condition and great value
Where do yoh start?
This is the third time i have played this course and it has got progressively worse each time. The tee boxes are the worst ive ever seen, the green keepers were installing mats in the middle of sunmer and some holes are still on mats? The bunkers were absolutely appalling, full of stones and hardly any sand. The general details of the course are what you expect at a muni, in fact id be annoyed if my local muni was in this state. The greens were okay, rolled decent.
The staff didnt seem to care, the general aura isnt very welcoming.
Overall, i am annoyed we even paid £19 each.
Shame, could be a cracker if it was managed properly. Wont be back
Good days golf
Course was in fairly good nick although tees were a bit bare and dry. First nine is ok but back nine is excellent and in better condition
Played while on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the course. Although it had been dry the course was in good condition .
Value value value
A little dry but to be expected with weather. Very enjoyable round only criticism would be the bunker conditions but I tend to try and avoid them anyhow. Highly recommended great value nice course.
Fantastic day.
Fantastic day and the course was in brilliant condition.
Really enjoyable and would recommend.
Fun day golfing
Really nice course in lovely condition. Thoroughly enjoy myself couldn't recommend highly enough.
Great Day
Course was in fantastic condition and the greens are perfect.
Will definately book here again.
Northop
Great condition, one critique would be the bunkers need more sand, or because of rainfall previous it was too compact. But overall great condition
Great Course for a Great Price
Best value I’ve had for a long time on such a great course. Greens were very well kept and challenging, bunkers well kept and challenging from start to finish.
A few temp tee’s but understandable at this time of year.
Solid 8/10.
Great course.
Course is in great condition. Greens are huge so decent target to aim at, fairways are drying out nicely, just a couple of wet areas but nothing major. Only gripe is a couple of tee boxes are a bit bare, but apart from that very minor flaw, this is great value for money and only 30mins from my doorstep. One of the best courses I've played in the north wales/north west.
Good course
Played today, greens are quick and the course is in good condition bar the winter tees being out on a couple holes, no drama though. The second tee is being landscaped by the looks of things and there's some GUR around the course but overall its in really good condition. However the only complaint I have is I played mid day and had a 3 ball infront of me and I played alone. Not once did they offer me to play through. It took me 2 and a half hours to play nine holes. So I walked off after 9. I get everyone plays at thier own pace and I'm not the best golfer but some of the old boys there should no better. There was a three infront of them too. However even the offer would have been nice. Just disrupted the flow of the game. I will be going back but maybe after 5 when the old boys have gone off for supper.
Pretty good course but to many tees shut and had to play off mats. Some of the mats shortened the holes way to much. Could do with investing in a grass cutter for the fairways as well.
Refused entry
When I arrived I was told I was not allowed to play as the last minute booking I had pre paid for shouldn’t have been posted.
I’m not sure who’s at fault, however, neither Northop golf course or Golf Now have offered any compensation or rectification for the issue.
At the very least I would like a refund for the cost of the tea time as I also travelled for 40 minutes to get there for no reason.
Did you book a "hot deal" these tee times are owned by golf now and Not the Club, the club receives no revenue from the hot deal tee times so are unable to give a refund . Golf Now have always given a refund when a greenfee has been paid but generally credit for issues relating to hot deals!
Golf Now had been told in advance the course was not accepting visitors due to the weather , so your issue should entirely lie with Golf Now and not the golf club who were trying to do the right thing by way of our valued visitors.
Really bad condition
This course was in disgusting condition. I understand we had some rain prior to our round. But to charge us full amount knowing fine well the course was like a swamp just isn’t right. If your thinking off playing here stay well away until it’s a hot sunny day. Otherwise you will regret it just like we did.
We use the matts to protect the tees for the summer season , Most courses do the same . When fairways are a little wet it would be worse to put a 2 tonne fairway mower on to cut the fairways and cause damage so close to the summer season.
