Golfers standing on the Ranch’s first tee might feel, for a second, that they’re on a links course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The seventh green. This hole is typical of the par-4’s here: fairly long and definitely challenging. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021
-
The ninth, par-5, 540. “Glacier,” as this hole is dubbed, plays straight downhill. And a bad drive may lead to a “meltdown.” Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

Sixteen, par-5, 618. Another dramatic downhiller named “Ski Hill,” which certainly suggests the thrill of playing it. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

The 18th: par-4, 438. A fitting closer, but also a hole that captures the beauty of New England golf at its finest. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/19/2021

Great course
We had a great day on this beautiful course, the fairways were immaculate and greens were rolling pretty good. The woman in the snack cart came around with some cranberry granola bars that were awesome. The staff was helpful and polite ...we are definitely going back!
Beautiful Layout
A great test of golf in a wonderful setting. Tees and fairways were immaculate. A few greens needed attention, but no major complaints. Challenging from the white tees, but still manageable in length. An hour's drive for me, but definitely worth it.
Hard to beat even at full price
Course is one of the most interesting in Hartford/Springfield area. A few holes you need to learn but once you do, you want to come back. Fairways and greens in near perfect shape. We've played twice in two weeks at the $60 golf now deal and I'd pay more. Easily best drink cart around!
best course in western mass
Been playing here since 2002 and will always make time to play a round here. The course never disappoints.
2nd time, another great round
3rd time playing The Ranch, first time playing mid season. Conditions were great, few greens looked a little beat up, but were still rolling nice. Pace of play was good, finished under 4 hours.
Overall another great round at The Ranch, for $65 can't beat it.
What a joke.
I was so excited to play the Ranch with my Dad on fathers day! I have always wanted to play this course. Turned out to be the worst round of golf I have ever played. The golf course was is awful condition. The rate of play was painfully slow, we waited on every tee. The guys behind us were members and hit into us more times than I could count. I never saw a ranger or anyone checking on play. Plus it is very expensive. I will never go back. The only good part was it was a beautiful day and I got to hang out with my family.
The Ranch: Always a great experience
The course was in great shape with some of the greatest vistas in Western Massachusetts. The greens were rolling true but a bit slower than last year. The pro shop staff were a delight to deal with and the restaurant is now an excellent dining experience, whether after golf or for simply enjoying a quality meal.
Awesome Views
The course was in great condition , and will be back to play again this summer!!
Really nice. Great shape.
Really impressed with The Ranch. All around great shape after a tough winter. A course you'll play better after the first time around. Some BIG down hill blind shots. A lot of fun. Greens were nice, if not a little slow, but rolled very nicely. We'll be back again. Wish it was closer, but well worth the money and drive.
It was great except for
When I paid the Pro Shop did not take my deposit off of my bill.
One of the best layouts in New England
When you live in New England and talk about the best courses in the area The Ranch comes up a lot in the conversation. I will say that the layout is one of the best that I've ever seen. It reminds me a lot of other New England courses that have several elevation changes. Courses like the Shattuck Inn in Jaffrey New Hampshire and Red Tail in Devens,MA come to mind. As for the condition of this course I was a little down as the bunkers were gravelly and not very sandy and the greens were pretty inconsistent. The fairways were some of the best fairways I've ever played on and the rough and fescue outside the rough made for a true test of my game. Though this course is tougher than some other ones in the state sometimes that's not what it's all about. The service was also a letdown. Playing as a twosome, we got to the turn and the threesome in front of us was nice enough to wait there and told us to play through we had ordered food from the golf cart on the eighth tee box, we told these gentlemen we were going to run in,grab our food and then run to the tenth tee. Sadly, no one in the restaurant looked and saw that we had ordered food and when we told the girl at the bar about our order she grabbed it off of the printer gave it to the cook and then we never saw her again. We were delayed almost 10 minutes waiting for our food, two hotdogs, and by the time we got to the 10th tee the threesome in front of us had already teed off. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in playing one of the best layouts in all of New England but past the golf I wouldn't expect much more.
Great course
The layout is excellent, challenging but fair. I did really enjoy the round. It helped that a 4-some let the 2 of us play through
great day, and played well, too
Arrived early for a Sunday afternoon round. was a little disappointed to find out that practice balls now cost extra, but the tee was open and the woman let me out early on my own. The pace was fine, I had time to roll a few extra putts, and actually line some up. The course was wet in a few spots and the greens suffer from people who don't fix their ball marks. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and will definitely go back. The course is fair, if you keep it in the fairway. Some of the greens are big so the GPS in the cart is helpful as it gives you exact yardage to the pin. Some of the pins were awfully tight to the edges. No matter, the weather was great.
Great course
The Ranch is a great place to play golf. The course is always in great condition. Very friendly staff and beautiful facilities.
The views on this course are some of the best in the area. The course is very challenging from the back tees, but also has the need for precision shots from the forward tees. One down fall I had was the GPS. Either ours was not working correctly or the course yardage seems to be way off. A few par threes for instance the GPS was 25 yards different then the yard marker and the GPS phone app that we had. I will just make sure I have my laser with me next time. Over all a great course to play at a fare rate through golf now.com
Favorite Course in Western MA
One of my favorite courses in the state, especially in Western MA. Not many courses can compare to the overall experience The Ranch has to offer. I've played here a handful of times over the past couples years and it continues to impress. Sets the standard for public courses in the area.
Now that I've found GolfNow I can hopefully play more often on the discount rates. A little expensive during peak season but is still worth every last $$
The Ranch...
This is probably the nicest course in all of Western Massachusetts. Normally it costs between $65 to $75 to play this awesome course. With the fire deal on Golf Now my friend and I played for $28 each. Fantastic price, fantastic course, on a fantastic day. Thank You Golf Now!
A little early.....
Love playing this course and it definitely one of the nicest around this area, but it's early in the year and the greens were just aerated and were literally almost unplayable..... The ball was hopping around everywhere. They should definitely find a way to let you know the current conditions at the course before you book on golf now. Anyway still have the course a great rating because I've played it many times and it's usually pristine. Customer service there is also second to none and the staff is super friendly.
Wonderful Day
Great experience at the Ranch today! Fairways were excellent. Spring greens were fine! Wonderful day with friends! Get out and play at the Ranch!
Nice course
Nice and fun course but not really worth the $100 they charge for weekend play
awsome course
i play this course at least once a year, sometimes twice. i'm from randolph so this is a long trip. the fee includes driving range, car (needed!) and use of locker/showers afterward (they supply the towels). as for the course, what more can i say than IT IS FUN. with hole names like ETERNITY, FISHBOWL (or similiar) i have a great time even if i'm playing lousy. the staff is always friendly and eagar to help. and did i mention that they have beer in the beverage car.
