Great for Beginners
Ok so let’s get something straight. It’s £13.50 for 9 holes.
If you’re a proper golfer then you shouldn’t be expecting the belfry at that price.
For a beginner this course is great. The only thing I would say about it is that the fairways have one heck of a slope on them.
Other than that for £13 for the beginner this course is perfectly fine
Dust golf course (if you can call it that)
it wasn’t a great start when the group infront of us was not in golf attire, from this moment onwards i had an awful time, the greens were dust, the fairway felt like the rough and the rough may aswel of been the amazon rainforest.
was sold as a 18 hole course. got there and was very disappointed. played 2 holes and left
Ok
Decent for beginner golfers. Good value for money…greens and tee boxes not very well kept
Weeknight round
Played 9 holes at 6pm on a weeknight. Course was quiet and pace was good. A couple of very boggy areas despite very little recent rain, one of which was next to the 8th green. Otherwise was in good nick. Good value course and always friendly.
Shocking
What a shambles of a course will never return and play again. Greens are terrible and whole course not in good condition
Putting greens
The putting greens need massive attention, when paying £20 for a round you'd expect it to be in better condition.
Not the best
I’ve played here a few times but this time sadly wasn’t the best the greens was in a rough state and the fairways was full of daisy’s they seem to favour the wedding and function hopefully it will be back to looking decent again soon
Need to buy a new lawnmower
Don’t know what’s happening at this course but it just doesn’t seem to be kept properly. Felt like we were just playing in a public park.
It’s a great shame, if they sorted out the condition it would be a nice course.
Greens and fairways appalling condition.
Don’t know what’s happened to the green keepers at this course!!!
Will not be playing this course again. Very poorly kept.
Needs some maintenance
Played 9 holes on Saturday late afternoon (20.04.24), just having a quick knock, the course was fine apart from it needs a bit of maintenance. The tee boxes are being rested which is fine, but you have to play off the winter mats and you can hardly get a tee in them, especially on the par 4/5’s where you want to use your driver. A few self made holes would be useful! There’s no stand-mounted ball washers on each hole! These would be handy as the course is still a little muddy in places and usually every decent course has them. Most importantly, the greens need a good cut and flattened out. Each green was like the grass on the 1st cut and quite bobbly,
In need of some repair
I do enjoy playing this course but the tee boxes do need repair. I’m a new player and need a tee to drive off the box. It’s basically impossible to put a tee in the box. The greens are average but sometimes hard to see from the rough. It is a somewhat challenging course and has lovely scenery. I think if they took a little more pride in the fairways and boxes it would be a much better course. It’s still a good beginners course though.
Great little course
A challenging 9 hole course, playing 18 off a second set of tees. Great value for money but could do with players being remindied about replacing divots, repairing pitch marks and generally looking after the course. Greens probably worse for wear after a wet winter and I'm sure will play better when it's drier. Friendly staff, nice bar and club house and range is nearly always available.
Lovely day out
Greens not the best condition but everything else seems to be good
Depserately needs maintenance
Playing at Ridgeway is like playing on a public playing field. The greens are like fairways, the fairways are like rough and the rough is... yeah. The only greens that are well kept is the 6th and the 9th. This is because they are the only greens visible from the wedding marquee, which has what this "golf course" has become, a small wedding venue.
If you want a quick knock around and you're local, go for it. Don't go out of your way to play here though.
Overall a good course for the price, although I have to say the greens are in pretty bad condition.
