Challenging and enjoyable experience
A totally unique and challenging course with first class greens and amazing views.
The wild horses on fairways and electric fences around the greens were initially surprising, however they add to the unique experience.
There could be more signage to direct visitors to the next tee if I was being picky
Excellent practice/ warm up facilities and a great clubhouse with lovely food.
Highly recommend
Fantastic
No golfers in front of us. Excellent course in great condition and helpful staff members. Pretty much all you can ask for at a very affordable price.
Great course. Lovely views and the best greens I’ve played on all year
Made up a 4 ball with 3 sheep.
Great views from several holes.Sheep and horses for company. Some interesting holes and a good test of golf. Two groups of 4 balls let me play through on the back nine so managed 18 in 3 hours carrying.
Greens in great condition, slow compared to my home course but true.
Stunning views
Stunning location with very helpful and friendly staff. A mixture of some quite easy holes and some very tough ones.
Greens were receptive and fairways really good (which was impressive considering sheep and horses roam the course).
The views of the bay make it well worth a visit, but I wouldn’t fancy it on a windy day!
Great first time experiencev
My first time playing this course and it certainly won’t be my last .The course was in great condition and it’s a bit unusual to have ponies watching you on most holes however that adds to the whole ambiance of this course .As for the views over Swansea Bay they cannot be beaten .
Friendly welcome from the people here both staff and members .
Brilliant course
Lovely course, really unique with fantastic views. Very different experience playing with an audience of farm animals (fenced off don't worry!)
Early morning holiday round
On holiday nearby so spotted a weather window and appreciated being able to book an early morning time online. Teed off in brilliant sunshine and the gentlest of breezes with no-one around - idyllic. It is an amazing setting and the views, landscape and wandering sheep and horses all add to the experience. The course itself reminded me of Southerndown and aspects of nearby Pennard and I enjoyed several front 9 holes - such as the sweeping downhill par 5 3rd, the tough uphill par 4 6th, and the downhill approach to the 9th which conveniently returns to the clubhouse. The back 9 is arguably even better and it certainly has the best view over Mumbles and Swansea Bay from the 17th tee - a challenging par 3 where the ball has to be flown all the way over a gorse filled depression to the relatively narrow tiered green. All the par 3s were good and called for a range of clubs to be used - the long 8th called for a very stout hit with a rescue club (which I failed to achieve!). On the debit side, course conditioning was variable though I haven't played the course before so can't tell if my experience was 'normal' for such an amazing natural setting - there was very little fairway definition to speak of, the turf was fairly soft and springy underfoot (good for walking but maybe not quite so good for drainage in wetter months) and the greens were true but pretty slow. Given the conditioning, I felt the green fee was bearable but not a bargain. I recommend Clyne very warmly - but you may want to check the forecast carefully so you can best appreciate the fantastic views and the scenery.
What a bargain!
I wasn’t expecting much for the £8 (Golf Now) required to play this course but I was in for a pleasant surprise. Horses and sheep had to be shooed off the first tee - they are all over the course but weren’t a problem, just adds character. The 360 degree views of the Gower, the Mumbles and Swansea are fantastic. For February and after a morning downpour the course was in great condition. Electric fences around the green are no problem. The layout is good and not too tight. I would recommend this course at twice the price. (I didn’t use clubhouse so haven’t scored that).
Very difficult to get a flat lie
Course was only ok. Fairways are undulating with little or no flat areas to play from with ball above or below your feet for most shots. The greens were in reasonable condition but had not been prepared for play with lots of surface water. It’s a difficult walking course particularly in damp conditions
We'll be back!
A lovely old heath-land course with superb views across Swansea Bay. The course was in excellent condition, the members and staff very friendly and welcoming and the clubhouse was really nice. Well worth a visit; we'll be back.
this course is picturesque
The Club has all the usual facilities expected for a club of its reputation. The chipping and practice net area is somewhat cramped and unattractive. The club shop seemed well stocked and the professional was welcoming. There was no opportunity to join with another player so I went round on my own in just over 3 hours with a push trolley. I found the course challenging but not specially difficult. As there are a few animals(ponies and sheep) on the course the greens have a protective fence system. The course is quite hilly and in places the fairways(first 9 mainly) need attention. There was evidence that the ground doesn't take wet weather too well but on the day the greens played well. The bunkers were generally playable but on the wet side.
I had an enjoyable lunch in the excellent clubhouse where the bar steward was pleasant.
One I'll play again
One of the most unusual courses I've probably ever played. Electrified fences surround the greens to keep off the wondering wildlife (sheep, horses etc.)
The greens however were in perfect condition.
Breathtaking views across the Swansea Bay area, I think we were lucky that it was a lovely day. A rainy day may present a different experience
This course greens was excellent
I have never played a course where the greens was so immaculate. I enjoyed my round. Well done Clyne Golf Club.
Two ball evening round
Very interesting course where you play golf amongst the wildlife including wild horses. Greens were in excellent condition. Members were very friendly.
