Quintero Golf Club
About
Located in the desert just north of Phoenix and Scottsdale, the golf course at Quintero Golf Club is a challenge but with up to as many as nine tees per hole, it can accommodate golfers of all different abilities and handicaps. The rolling, desert terrain of the course features dramatic elevation changes for interesting play. The golf course's design has wide fairways and plenty of water hazards and sand bunkers. The most difficult hole is the par-5 8th hole, which plays uphill with three large bunkers alongside the right side of the lay-up area. Another difficult but noteworthy hole is Quintero Golf Club's third, which has a scenic lake to the left that sometimes tricks golfers into playing close to it with their tee shot for an easier second shot to the green.

Hidden Gem in the Desert
I must say I could't have asked for a better day of golf. I flew out for the weekend to go to Waste Management tournament and playing this course ended up being the highlight of my weekend. The course was manicured to perfection. It was shocking how good the grass and greens were. On top of that i did play some darn good golf which always makes the experience that much better.
From the moment we arrived we were catered to. From bag drop off to cart girls, the service was top notch.
At one point on the back nine we stopped to listen... Nothing... You could hear a pin drop. And coming from Los Angeles where you are always along some freeway or airport, this was a nice breath of fresh air.
Sure, its a little drive out of town. But the JUICE IS WORTH THE SQUEEZE.
Phenomenal Greens - Disappointing experience.
I heard about this course from a couple of people and decided to trek out to the course. High Expectations
Some great experiences and some very disappointing ones.
Positives:
*Green were slick and fast - a little burnt out on the edges but the greens were unbelievable.
*The course was nicely laid out but we had trouble remembering holes after the round (except the par 3s because massive elevation changes.
*Not a ton of houses so there were some spectacular views.
Negatives:
*Tee boxes were atrocious. Their Par-3s were the worst. They tried to grow the grass to make them look even but they are severely uneven. Even the par 4s and 5s had their moments with bumps. I would have given the course a 5 on course conditions but the teeboxes dropped it to 3. They were that bad for a high-priced course.
*The service was not great - starter was a little rude. I feel when you play a course like this, the experience is supposed to draw you back. I conferred with my playing partners and they agreed that the sense was we were lucky to get a tee time during WM Open week and we were there for them - not they were there to help us. May be unfair but all three of us got that sense.
*We barely finished even though we teed off 4:50 minutes before sunset. We watched a group spend at least 10 minutes with the bev cart while an employee watched. I see where the delayed happened. The second tee had two groups waiting - and happened on several holes - sign of a mismanaged pace of play
*Proshop is not good. I assume it is a temporary spot given the building and 5 minute drive to the first tee box and range.
OVERALL: Considering the drive and the cost, it did not meet up to our expectations. The service, tee boxes, and pace of play put a damper on the experience. I can see why people like the course - and it could be better - but overall is was a victim of high expectation and the value not there.
There are too many courses in PHX/Scottsdale to play at that price point.
I wish it was different.
Must not skip playing this course!
Wanted to give a little back ground first, I'm a +1 golfer who has played Bay Hill, Kiawah Island and Harbor town all in the past 2 months. God blesses me with the chance to travel and play a lot during the year. Guess what! This course for condition and layout BEATS all of those places hands down... It may have been the Purest golf course I have played in the last 2 years. I can promise you this, I have played every course in Scottsdale rated high and all rankings and it tops them all(have not played whispering rock). You cannot pass this place up even though it's a hike in the middle of nowhere that's what makes it special.
Saw post about the clubhouse not being a this awesome building... Who cares the staff was as friendly as I have ever met! Cart girl was working the whole time even though we were the last group of the day and it was 52 degrees with 20-35 mph winds!
Tara in the bar stayed open until we left at 630pm and took care of everything we needed "best wings in the valley" sweet young lady. The rest of the staff was awesome, starter and cart guys came in and talked with us after the round and made the two locals I was with fell like they were members of a high end CC.
There is a reason this course is ranked #1 in AZ the last few years, if you pass it up for Troon North you are making a huge mistake!!!!!
Thanks again to the staff and grounds crew was running the best course I have played this year! Bandon Dunes in April is going to have a tough time topping this one!
Desert Gem
One word to describe this course, immaculate. Being an Arizona resident I have had the privilege to golf some beautiful courses (both public and private) and this place is second to none. Perfect combination of elevation changes/blind shots to make the round challenging, yet fun. Staff is extremely welcoming and makes you feel right at home (something that I feel a lot of courses are lacking these days). Whether you're a resident or visitor, this place needs to be at the very top of your list for AZ golf destinations. The drive is absolutely worth it!
Best Course in AZ
Quintero is by far the best course I have played in AZ. The greens, course layout and condition, customer service, and scenic views are second to none. Quintero has some amazing elevation changes and is definitely one of the best course designs I have ever played. You must get out to Quintero and see it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing!
I recently had the privilege to play this course for the second time and once again it exceeded all expectations! The friendly and knowledgeable staff makes your day at the course second to none. The practice facilities are all top of the line. The course itself will challenge any handicap player and leave you wanting to come back again and again. I recommend this golf course as a MUST PLAY for anyone living in Arizona or anyone spending time in Arizona. Do yourself a favor and get out to Quintero!
Awesome course. My favorite course to play in Arizona
Put this on your bucket list!
Unbelievable golf course, one of the best you will play anywhere. It's one of the courses you will remember not just for its fantastic views but the conditioning and variety of the holes is unmatched. If you want a memorable desert golfing experience hope in you car and get to this course you won't be sorry.
A Must Play Course
While this course is quite a drive from central phoenix it is worth every moment. The Layout is very difficult to play and very enjoyable to the eye. Course conditions were very good and the greens were at least a 12 on the stimpmeter. Bring your A game, this a big boy track.
Awesome.
If you don't like this course you're insane or just a really nit-picky golfer. Just because the course didn't let you break 80 doesn't mean it is a bad course.
Challenging. Long drive worth it.
If you're starting out in Scottsdale, get ready for a hike into the desert to get there. But once you arrive, an avid golfer will truly appreciate the quality. Don't expect resort course mounding that kicks errant shots back into the fairway. In fact, expect that errant shots will be bouncing into the desert and OB. So, put a premium on hitting it straight off the tee.
The conditions and scenery are fantastic and the starter was a gentleman and helped us get out in front of a slow group (much appreciated !). Enjoy your round if you choose to trek out to Quintero.
One of the best!
Probably the best desert golf experience you can get. Very tough course so you may need to play it a couple times to fully appreciate it.....doesn't handle misses to easily!
Overall Great Course with a Tough Challenge
This course has amazing course conditions and a great layout. Due to the course being challenging, the pace of play will be 4-5 hours, so certainly set aside the time to really enjoy the course. We did have our cart run out of battery half way through the round and saw a couple others break down as well. My only other complaint is their lack of F&B options on the course especially with the Clubhouse being so far away from the actual course. A snack bar at the turn, would be a great investment
Tough as nails
This is the most beautiful golf coarses that I have ever played and I have played over 5000 rounds. The coarse is fair and tough at the same time. Up hill fairways ant tee boxes cut out in the mountains. It really helps if you have a slope meter on your range finder so you can hit the greens more accurately . One thing that I did notice is that some lazy scumbags don't fix there mall marks or fill their divots. The management should toughen up on this matter and hold them accountable for not raking traps also. This divine masterpiece deserves to be taken care of by all. A special place for me and I will be back.
Phenomenal course in every way.
Best course in the valley hands down. Immaculate condition, variety of holes that use every club and top notch staff. Easy drive from N. Scottsdale. Will be playing here regularly!
Great course and everything is great except...
We like playing here, and will return. However, the replay rate is ridiculous... $50. Almost all courses want you to spend cart fees so that you stay, spend more in the room shop, more food more tips, but with such a high replay rate, we just left without spending anything in the clubhouse. Overall, 2 shirts, towels and and a hat would've been worth a lower replay rate. However, they got $0 instead.
Still a great course, just plan on playing 18 and not 27 or 36.
Almost perfect
We loved the course layout. It was tough but fun.
The practice facilities were wonderful! The greens, which all the staff bragged about, were fast - which was fine. They were also VERY bumpy. This was a real irritant.
The grill could only deliver wings. Seems very odd.
Great golf course!
Played this course after reading the reviews on GolfNow and checking the course website. Everything great that I read about was true! This is an excellent track with almost all holes isolated from the neighboring holes and no houses anywhere near the holes. Beautiful setting and terrific conditions made this a very enjoyable round. A must play if you are in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area to play golf.
Immaculate Conditions
This place was better than expected. Driving up you could see the conditions of the course were going to be something special, and they were. Very well manicured, you couldn't tell that overseed had just finished. The greens were running around a 12 and made it very interesting to putt sometimes. Would recommend this course to anyone as even those who do not golf much would enjoy a round here.
Quintero
Booked the course due to many positive reviews and comments from other golfers. Was not disappointed. The course was in good condition. It is a course you need to play again to better determine where to place your drives etc. The elevation changes and windy conditions added to knowing distances.
Will play it again!
