MountainView Country Club
About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

windy but nice
this course is very windy, as it is out in the desert with nothing to stop the wind. the course is nice and well maintained. the greens are better than the other two courses in Saddlebrooke.
Good course for family golf
I play here occasionally with my wife because the yellow tees (3600 yards) are great for her and there are a few very nice holes from the back tees. The greens were a little slow and grainy, but they are still new from the overseed and I am sure they will improve with growth. You almost always encounter aherd or two of mule deer for an extra bonus.
I'll never play Mountainview again
The round started off badly in the proshop when the gentleman at the counter informed me that my turtleneck long sleeve shirt that I wear on cold days at La Paloma was not allowed but he was happy to sell me a $70 shirt that wasn't worth half that price. He din't offer us practice balls, so we had to got back and get some. Our rounds started ok, but we quickly caught up to a 2-some in front of us that was routinely hitting 4 balls off the tee and in the fairway. Our three-some was backed up behind them as well as the 4-some behind us. The four-some behind us called the pro-shop but they said they could do nothing because there was no ranger on Sunday's. We finally gave up after 13 holes and headed back to the clubhouse. Needless to say, we bypassed their restaurant which we usually stop at afterwards for a few drinks. Enough with Saddlebrook, I'm playing Tucson from now on.
Lots of wildlife
Very scenic. Course in good condition for this time of year. Bring extra clothes as it cools off quickly in late afternoon. Would be nice if food was available but restaurant is closed so bring your own food.
Mountain View Tucson
Wonderful course with beautiful views. Highly recommended. Perfect condition and pleasant staff.
Good Course but no water
Course was in good shape and the price was great. They have no water on the course and no beverage cart nor do you go past the club house after nine. Its AZ and no water on a golf course? Luck for us it was not a 100 degrees. This course is always a little slow to play since there are a lot of members that take their time. Some of the sand traps are more like gravel pits. Huge number of deer and a few bobcats on the course.
Plus and minus regtarding over seeding
Over seeding was done and in very good condition. The greens were extremely slow. Cart path only at this time adds 1/2 hour or more to round.
Good shape - few players after mid-morning
Course overall is in good condition. Pace of play excellent.
An enjoyable round
Affordable and tucked away in the hills, the course is 5 degrees cooler than other Tucson courses and while it is not very long, it is full of challenges. Becoming one of my favorite short notice courses to play. I have seen deer on the course every time I have played it.
Dog track
This course is playing like a dog track right now. The greens are horrible. Absolutely horrible. They plugged 4-6 weeks ago and even with all the rain we have been getting you would think they plugged yesterday. The fringe is even worse. It's no wonder this course has such a bad reputation in the Tucson area.
very nice layout. great views
Greens were a little slow, but it is Aug. We love this course. If I could talk my wife into it, I would live there.
This course needs a certified superintendent.
Mountainview is in the worst condition that I have seen on any golf course. After the recent rains, the rough is lush but the greens are nearly dead. There are numerous bare spots on every green and the greens are not cut. They are shaggy, bumpy and will not roll true. I wonder if they know how to grow grass, use a roller, much less set the mower to cut at a descent length. Also, the only food available is after 18. There is not even a coke machine at the turn. This course is not worth playing at any price.
poor condition
This course needs some serious work. The fairways were just fair, the traps were in poor condition, the greens were awful and the tee box were ok. Overall, this course needs help. Don't play here, you will be disappointed!!!
Poor Management
We played there a day after a heavy rain and weren't aware that it was cart path only. The management could have had an icon inserted on the GolfNow website but didn't. We arrived early and even though there was no one ahead of us the pro shop would not let us tee off early without paying additional green fees. More poor management toward their clientele. The fairways were well groomed. The greens had recently been aerated and were not in great shape. Most of the bunkers were rain soaked and contained water so hitting into one usually cost you a lost ball. If you intend to play Mountain View after a rain be sure to call first unless you don't mind cart path only play.
Terrible greens. Sand and chopped grass on greens.
As stated above, terrible greens. Fairways in good shape , toughs just right. Will not play again until greens are cleaned up.
This course needs help!
From tee to green this course needs a lot of help. Bare spots and burned out fairways abound. Greens are virtually un-puttable. Some bunkers have spotty sand (those are the good ones) but all are rock hard.
Greens
I know there going to close the course soon
for
re-seeding, but they shouldn't allow the greens
to deteriorate this bad so soon.
Perfect
The course was in great shape, the weather was outstanding, could not ask for a better experience
Mountainview has Mountain Views!
This golf course is in very good condition. The greens and fairways are being kept up great.
I particularly liked the many views of the Catalina mountains. They were always in view and on many holes we could view the entire western length of this beautiful mountain range.
