MountainView Country Club
About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Needs Water
First round at Mountainview since last April and was very surprised and disappointed with the course conditions. The entire course (T-Boxes, Fairways and Greens) are extremely dry. Had to drive the Golf Cart slowly as the dry grass flys up and into the cart, clothes, eyes, etc. Most frustrating was the greens. Dry, hard and extremely fast! Approach shots landing on the green simply would not hold. It was like putting on a pool table or pavement. Very nice layout with exceptionally friendly staff however it pales in comparison to Saddlebrooke Ranch. They are going to have to start irrigating as a once nice course is on the verge of becoming a cow pasture. Very Sad...
Painted fairways & greens
The course was in horrible shape. There is absolutely no live grass on fairways or greens. Painted fairways & greens are never fun to play on especially for the money we paid. I would NOT recommend this course this time of the year. I feel cheated!
Mountainview has potential
This course definitely has great potential. Greens and fairways have some issues with invasive grasses
Still a bit thin after overseeding … and full recovery (from previous owner/developer's neglect) in a few areas will take several seasonal cycles. SBHOA2 is committed to a quality golf program … but needs to keep rates reasonable to attract non-resident golfers.
Fun outing
Always a friendly and helpful atmosphere at Mountain View. The greens were very good, but some fairways were still needing to grow some grass. But they're working on that. Worth the drive to get there.
Greens are terrific
Last year major greens problems; today, fast smooth perfect; except for some rain damage and sanding on the first few holes, the course is fantastic.
CPO, uh oh!
Come to find out that the Hot Deal was Cart Path Only. With weather like we had, I would have walked had I known it was CPO. Course was in super shape, greens were impeccable.
Fun course to play
This is a wonderful course to play. Great layout. Greens are in great shape. Fairways are in very good shape. Great staff with starter and ranger(s). Many improvements have been made and will only get better.
Fun timely round!
The greens are in nice shape and the fairways are scalped and they are ready for over seeding! Pace of play was good! We were a foursome and played at under 4 hours. I will come back after the over seeding is completed and the grass has a chance to fill in.
Nice greens
Course was in fair shape fairways were not in good shape a lot of bare spots greens were in great conditon won’t go back until fairways are in a lot better shape
Very Very slow pace
Course is a little rough due to the wet weather and they plugged it recently. But the pace of play is not monitored and was very very very slow,
Beautiful golf course
I was paired with three singles for my round. We all really liked the course. The scenery is especially terrific. I live in the HOA which owns the course and was very pleased to find how much the course had been improved since the HOA bought it on Jan. 1, 2018.
Unlike a couple of recent reviewers, our group thought the greens were in good shape although they were top-coated with sand which made them slower. We all made occasional long putts and thought the greens ran pretty true. There was no sign of the poa annua that was bad last winter.
There is now a food and beverage grill open at the pro shop. The food is good and there is outside seating with water misters going...or you can sit inside in air conditioning. There is now ice, cups and water for free outside the grill. There are brick bathrooms with water fountains at the club house and at two mid-way holes.
Views of the Santa Catalina Mountains are spectacular. Another joy is the wildlife.. You are sure to see many deer which are practically tame.
Personally, I find this course hard to beat.
A very pleasant round of golf
The only drawback was slightly uneven greens. Fairways and roughs in very nice shape. It's a pretty friendly layout - a few forced carries and intra-fairway hazards to negotiate. Fantastic scenery, very nice clubhouse.
good
people were great but it was real windy, we had a good time
