MountainView Country Club

About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

The greens were in the worst shape of any course we have played down here. In addition at least six of the fairways were horrible ,no grass and painted.
Greens are spotty
Proana “weeds” infesting greens. Some greens pretty bad. Had a “gateway” sign on some holes which we found out later meant you should stay off the fairway and n the rough. Normally you enter and exit through gates and do not go in rough. Very confusing. Why not just put up a sign that says stay off the fairway on this hole?
This course is in very poor condition
We were first time players at this course (8 of us from Sun Lakes, AZ) who called the pro shop to make our tee times.
Never did they tell us about the extreme growth of Poa annua grass on the greens, yet we were charged the normal greens fee.
The greens were impossible to putt and very slow unlike Sewailo Golf course which we played the day before.
Many areas on the fairways were lacking grass too.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the current conditions of this course a 1.
We feel sorry for the annual members who paid $3450 for their memberships.
We will NEVER return to this golf course.
greens need love
just purchased from the developer and he let the greens go. They need some love, Other than that, had a great time and fun course.,
The greens spoil the round!
The greens absolutely have to be the worst in all of AZ. Honestly. Sand and rogue infestations of weed on every green. Tee boxes are nice and some fairways are also good, but they have lost the grass on some of them. Played on Super Bowl Sunday so the pace of play was very good. Due to the condition of the course, I will not return unless the green fees are greatly reduced.
Course That Needs A Lot Of Work
The fairways are in good condition but the greens are terrible. Many greens do not have grass on them. There is sand and blotchy spots that make putting extremely difficult. I have played there before and never seen such horrible conditions. I would not play there again unless the conditions improve drastically. This condition is known to the management and maybe in a few months improvement might be seen.
If possible, a refund for my negative golf experience would be appreciated!
A once nice course- unplayable at current prices
We have played here for a number of years and enjoyed it. This year however, the greens all have weed problems. Automatic entry 2 putts were essential. Course management seems to be in a bit of denial. I realize this is a tough situation, but we won't be coming back until this situation is remedied - and certainly not at current pricing.
fairways are narrow
greens are so dry i dislike putting on concrete
Greens Definitely Need Work
Great day for golf. First time playing Mtn View at Saddlebrook. Tees in excellent condition, and most fairways are in expected winter "dormant" condition. Playable for this time of year. However, also understand "owners" have some work ahead for ALL of their GREENS, as the infestation of POA Anna Grass on the green makes it truly annoying when putting. No true roll virtually anywhere.
Once the greens can be corrected and infestation removed, I'd play and recommend this course. Until then, I would suggest passing on this one.
Course conditions
We found the course conditions terrible and would not pay over $20.00 per person a round. Ended up doing a 2 putt rule because the greens were awful. Used to be one of our favorite courses. What a shame.
Greens & fairways are in horrible condition
Fairways appear to be painted. Greens are horrible
The fairways are mostly dry and painted green. The greens have little clumps of weedy grass scattered throughout. Ball doesn't roll true. The course doesn't play like a well cared for course.
We won't be returning to play for quite some time.
Greens are infested with poa annua
I heard they had a work party to have members try to remove the poa on the greens. I would say that only 10%was removed.
Terrible greens, and these greens were rebuilt just 2 years ago. Very sad because it is a nice layout. I'm not going back until I hear that they have solved this problem.
Beautiful Course
You cant get much better of a course for the money. Beautiful scenery, good course conditions, and a great layout. Well worth the drive from the SE valley.
Bad Green - Bad Green
Greens are in really bad shape. Normally they are dormant this time of year with the type of Bermuda they have ... BUT... another grass has invaded greens that make it impossible to putt on a straight line. It is no fun to 3 and 4 putt after hitting good shots to get there.
Have loved this course, and will try one more time. However, if greens are still in bad shape, that will be it for now.
