About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

fairways are narrow
greens are so dry i dislike putting on concrete
Greens Definitely Need Work
Great day for golf. First time playing Mtn View at Saddlebrook. Tees in excellent condition, and most fairways are in expected winter "dormant" condition. Playable for this time of year. However, also understand "owners" have some work ahead for ALL of their GREENS, as the infestation of POA Anna Grass on the green makes it truly annoying when putting. No true roll virtually anywhere.
Once the greens can be corrected and infestation removed, I'd play and recommend this course. Until then, I would suggest passing on this one.
Course conditions
We found the course conditions terrible and would not pay over $20.00 per person a round. Ended up doing a 2 putt rule because the greens were awful. Used to be one of our favorite courses. What a shame.
Greens & fairways are in horrible condition
Fairways appear to be painted. Greens are horrible
The fairways are mostly dry and painted green. The greens have little clumps of weedy grass scattered throughout. Ball doesn't roll true. The course doesn't play like a well cared for course.
We won't be returning to play for quite some time.
Greens are infested with poa annua
I heard they had a work party to have members try to remove the poa on the greens. I would say that only 10%was removed.
Terrible greens, and these greens were rebuilt just 2 years ago. Very sad because it is a nice layout. I'm not going back until I hear that they have solved this problem.
Beautiful Course
You cant get much better of a course for the money. Beautiful scenery, good course conditions, and a great layout. Well worth the drive from the SE valley.
Bad Green - Bad Green
Greens are in really bad shape. Normally they are dormant this time of year with the type of Bermuda they have ... BUT... another grass has invaded greens that make it impossible to putt on a straight line. It is no fun to 3 and 4 putt after hitting good shots to get there.
A beautiful AZ day
My wife and I enjoy playing this course as it has a wide choice of tee boxes. The fairways are not overseeded on all holes...play winter rules if this bothers you. The greens are OK but suffer from a bit of "wild" grass...probably from the overseeding. It's not a big problem. The staff is friendly and encourages fast play.
could be a very good course
This course could be a very good course to play if the greens were not so bad. they are variety of grass that is dormant in the winter, so very slick and dry, with small clumps of wild grass popping up all over them. When you put over it, the ball hops all over the place. we will not be playing this course again until the address the greens.
Nice Layout, Poor Condition
Unfortunately, the course is not in very good shape, compared to others in the area. Bumpy greens and inconsistent fairway grass. Would not recommend until conditions improve.
Too early !
Faryways were in bad shape, painted in areas. Greens had a lot of weeds making putting more difficult. When I checked in the guy gave me greif about giving me a cart said I was too early, I stopped going out to the Ranch for that same reason now I can check Mountain view off my list of courses I will never play again.
Above average but needs improvement.
Checking was chaotic because they were in the middle of a change in management of the pro shop. The greens had clumps of a different grass. The pace of play was slow and no Marshall’s to remedy this. Overall, it was a frustrating experience. No drink cart either!
The course was in fabulous condition, the weather was excellent and the deer we kept seeing were just another added attraction. Will play again soon.
Deteriorating conditions
Have played here a number of times before. The course conditions are poor. The greens all have numerous stray growths that make it difficult to predict the line or speed. Four of the fairways were not overseeded and were marginally playable.
Have loved this course, and will try one more time. However, if greens are still in bad shape, that will be it for now.
