About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Course conditions were pretty ruff near the greens. Time of year I guess. There was a lot of dry spots cut out. No beverage cart, no outside water, come prepared. Would have been nice to know the conditions before booking.
Needs some TLC...
Overall, the course was fair-average. Greens were in pretty good shape, but fairways needed much work. Hopefully things will improve with the fall season right around the corner.
Not like it should
Played this course many times. Fairways had many bare spots. In front of many, many greens were under repair. No cart person. The first hole that had water was the 7th and it was also a restroom, but it had HOT water. It had lots of areas that had the cut grass that was not picked up.
Course is in poor condition
The developer has sold the course to the HOA, the deal will be done in a couple of months. For several months virtually all maintenance, watering etc., has come to a halt. This is the worst condition I have seen Mountainview in for 11 years.
Greens are sooo slow, and despite heavy Monsoon rains of late there are still lots of browned out fairways.
The only good news is that very few folks are bothering to play there so the pace of plays was OK.
Great course, poor condition
This is a great course that normally provides a reasonable challenge; however, management has failed to keep the fairways in decent shape. Improper maintenance has caused large sections of the fairway to die off. This problem will probably not be resolved until fall overseeding with rye.
Great price, fair course.
Solid round for a great price. Golf shop was a headache to find. A couple of holes were pretty much impossible to figure out where to hit from the back tees. Course conditions were 1/2 and 1/2, some holes looked great but others were pretty shabby to be honest. But with all that said, a great price and everyone there was very friendly. FYI driving range is $3.75/token (about 35 balls).
Course should have been closed!
I played the course today and it was disgraceful. I live in Saddlebrooke and play this course frequently, but today this course should not have been open for play. It was a cart path only day as there was a lot of rain last night. There was standing water in the fairways and in most of the sand traps. The fairways were muddy and soggy on most holes. In addition, the lack of grass on the fairways added to the muddy conditions. It was essentially unplayable in my opinion. Most of the sand traps will need to have new sand added before they become minimally playable. I recently played The Preserve and the Dove Mountain courses and they were 100% better in terms of maintenance and playability.
Shame on Mountain View for allowing this course to be played on today. I feel ripped off for having to pay for this round!
A Pleasant Track
Mountain View is a cross between a park-like layout and a desert, target style course. Fairly forgiving on most holes. Course is well maintained, freshly mown and rolled. Greens were not in very good shape though due to recent aeration. Give it a couple of weeks for that to settle down then head there for a pleasant round of golf.
MountainView
Greens we're true. Interesting blind tee shots can be intimating, however, just takes a little course management. Always see a lot of beautiful deer.
Beautiful Views of Santa Catalina mountains
Very enjoyable course with wonderful views and interesting critters. Saw the same big coyote hunting on three different holes, lots of ground squirrels, rabbits and deer. The deer are so used to golfers that they don't even move when you approach, just watch you.
I was warmly greeted by name upon arrival and sent right out ahead of schedule with a nice couple.
There are five choices of tees. Fairways are wide and well kept. The greens were not as good, some were bumpy and slow.
The holes are each individual with long cart paths connecting them, as opposed to some courses where they run up and down side of each other. Many have spectacular views of the Santa Catalina mountain range. Hole four is especially a delight and worth a pause from golf to appreciate just how lucky you are to be alive at such a magnificent spot. That is, just perform you shank your shot into the desert.
I must confess, I live here and love this course.
Near Perfect Golf Experience
Play date 5/2/17
Went out as a single and was paired with three others who have played the course before. Layout was great and challenging for all levels of play! Pro shop staff was very friendly and informative, which is unheard of at a Robson community. They treat their guests the same as their members here! The only issue was the out of control poa grass on the greens, it was very rare you would have a putt where you didn't have to maneuver the weeds. Overall a great experience, and I would play again for the rate!
Customer Service Refresher - Highly Recommended
I like the course. In fact I like ALL the Saddlebrooke courses - Mountainview, The Preserve, Saddlebrooke Ranch - but the treatment you receive from their staff is abismal. Based on that, my friend and I will never play any of these courses again. They are consistently rude. I normally wouldn't put so much emphasis on how I'm treated - course condition and layout are by far my highest priority - but I can only put up with so much. Robson Communities need to clean house.
good outing
The course was in near fabulous condition.
We had different level of players in our group and it worked well for all.
As we checked in, felt a bit biased against, as the gentleman answered with "Well, you DID book with golf now"
Overall, great course to play
Good greens
We find that the greens are consistent when ever we play this course
not bad...
I hated the noisy golf carts but liked the course. Chipping around the greens was definte challenge. Greens were not quick but they were ok
I like the course and the condition, however the staff is the most unaccommodating I've ever dealt with in the Tucson area. I could say the same for ALL the Saddlebrooke courses. The Director of Golf needs to take his entire staff to a customer service seminar. I will never play those courses again - based solely on how I've been treated
