About
MountainView Golf Club at Saddlebrooke sits at an elevation of 3,200 feet, offering both dramatic elevation changes and spectacular views. The course sits at the base of the Catalina Mountain range near Tucson, nestled into the mesquite-covered foothills. Gary Panks, the golf course's designer, saw the potential of the landscape and utilized the many natural hazards. He also incorporated subtle mounding and strategically placed bunkers that blend seamlessly into the natural terrain. Panks created a fair challenge with this layout but the wide, player-friendly landing areas makes the golf course approachable for beginners. The second hole is one of the most scenic holes on the course but it is also one of the layout's more difficult holes. Golfers will find a mesquite-filled wash crossing the fairway before facing an uphill shot to a green guarded by trees and bunkers.

Mountain View
Great tee boxes, excellent fairways, bumpy greens, 3 ft greens' collars rough, uneven. Course design neither creative nor varied. Large ponds on two holes, neither affected play or club selection.
Greens a mess
We like this course a lot but there was a significant amount of Poa growing all over every green making putts bobble all over. We played early morning and the course was quite wet from watering.
Played twilight..great rate..greens were good....real sand iin the traps..I would play again
Good Value with Views
Greens wouldn't hold with some grass issues, but overall we will play it again
this visit. Pretty views. Members were warm and welcoming.
The course is very good. Problem was we got stuck with a couple of clowns who were smoking cigars, so we had to quit after 9 holes. Stupid people.
Mountain View Course is good, but slow play and no marshalls
The weather was perfect. The course in very good condition. The pace of play was unacceptable. We played as a 2-some with a 2-some in front of us on the front nine and a 3-some in front of the 2-some in front of us.
The 3-some were very slow and didn't let the 2-some in front of us play through. Also,, the 2-some in front of us played multiple balls and slowed us further . because of this. Waiting for nearly every shot bacame a thing to do.
At the turn, we noticed the 3-some and 2-some dropped off - good news we thought. Not so much, we pushed a 1-some on hole 10 because a 4-some in front of him were slow. For some reason, the 4-some wouldn't invite the 1-some to play through but the 1-some invited our 2-some to join him. That didn't help since our 3-some waited the entire round for the 4-some in front of us.
Based on the slow play and no course marshall, I would hesitate to recommend this course.
Overall good conditions would gladly play this course again
Challenges without punishment
Mountainview is a lovely course for recreational golfers. Plenty of challenges but almost no punishment makes for a great day of golf. Plenty of tee options for all levels. Course is in very good shape, greens are a bit rough and slow, but manageable. Too bad there is no grill there to grab a sandwich, no beverage cart on the course but no problem to just bring your own.
Beautiful layout.
The course is well maintained., no broken water tiles. Very courteous personnel. A course to have fun & enjoy the scenery!!
Maintenance Neglect
I've played this course many times over the years. Always enjoyable until now. The greens have become heavily invested with invasive grass. They are being left long and rough. Putts will not remain on line. Very frustrating.
fairways in good shape. Greens are in bad shape. It might be a fungus. No beverage cart .
Good Course to Play
When you play to your handicap you should be happy. I am with only two xceptions. There were two wastelands (ditches) on two different holes not marked. It was my first time playing the course. Without the holes being marked or sign showing the hazard how would you know? Yes I drove into both hazards. Multiple tee boxes to hit from. Ladies tee boxes up far for the women. Greens are fast downhill. Stay below the hole. Reasonably challenging layout. You can score well here. Fairways are marked well. Good place to enjoy a round.
3/4 of a pizza
I had a discounted green fee for a late tee time. A number of greens and fairways were in poor condition. Fairways and greens that were not neglected were in good condition. Full fare green fees are at a disadvantage with other courses considering areas of neglect.
