West at Orangebrook Country Club
About
Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood boasts two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The golf courses are about equal in difficulty but each offers a different set of challenges. The West Course was added over 20 years after the original East Course, which was built in the 1930s. This newer layout has more water hazards and there are also several massive bunkers treacherously lurking about the greensides. The challenging elements are nicely balanced by wide-open, player-friendly fairways and small greens with few breaks. The golf course is overall very forgiving but it offers interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to players of all skill levels. In addition to the two golf courses, Orangebrook C.C. boasts extensive practice facilities that include a spacious lighted driving range with distance markers and a practice bunker.

"Wanna finish No. 11? Gotta go thru me!" Photo submitted by dprllm on 03/06/2015
Green in bad condiciones.
Fairways in good conditions, but the greens showed lack of maintain.
Orangebrook
The starter was great. I
The Woman behind the desk was not helpful. She said I couldn’t go out early because I got my teatime from Golf Now. If there was an opening, I still couldn’t go out. She was kind of adamant about that even though there was openings earlier. She would rather have me wait around the clubhouse.. all the golf courses I play on always let you go out early if there’s an opening. Because I purchased this from Golf Now, she treated me as a second-class citizen.
Terrible greens
Love both courses at Orangebrook but the east couse has been closed for over a month and the greens in the west course are in horrible shape. Only going to get worse with the Canadian traffic coming down.
As before
How many times do I have to write to you?
The course stated tgeyvwere open and took my money the day before. When I turned up to the venue no one was about to explain why a sign board was displayed stating that the course was closed. They wanted my time znd cost me money in fuel.
I am not impressed.
Course Closed
When we arrived to play we were informed that of the 36 holes 27 were closed and unplayable due to water! If we wanted to play 9 holes that remained open West holes 1-6 and East holes 17& 18 so the wife and I decided not to play there and went elsewhere
The Staff was very understanding and helpful!
Horrible greens
I've played both courses here at Orangebrook for the last 2 years and love the courses. But I've seen a decline in the conditions on both courses. The green are almost completely ruined. The driving range is gone and so is a lot of the parking area. It's sad to see courses that were once beautiful turn into a waste land.
Bad deal
When I arrived I was told that half the course was underwater and a lot of standing water on the other holes. Also cart path only. I should have been notified BEFORE I got there. I would like a refund.
Really annoyed
The course advertised the day before my tee time that the course was open. When I turned up.it was CLOSED no.lbe about to explain why. Waste of time and gas money.
I am not amused!!
Golf Balls get lost easliy
OranageBrooke Golf Club has 2 courses ( East & West). I played the West, the conditions and layout are all the same. for both courses.
Pros:: Very friendly Staff ( everytime: I've played here (4x ) in the last two years). I have never been paired up with anyone ( Lucky?) .So pace of play is Fast.
Cons: They don't cut the grass often . 1st and 2nd cut off the fairway are not managed.. You can hit a great shot that rolls off the fairway a few feet and its lost or very hard to find. When you find it, its not an easy 2nd shot most of the time. Last time I played here ( East Course), they were cutting the fairways, the result was huge clumps of grass everywhere. Like piles of hay, still making it difficult to find your ball. If they cut the fairway more often, I know the golf outing would be more enjoyable instead of fustrating finding balls that should be easy to spot.
Water and landscape don't come into play too often, so most bad shots are recoverable ( if they CUT THE GRASS).
The Greens have lots of crab-grass mixed in, but its cut short and rolled tight, so while not perfect,, they do a great job working with current condition. The Sand traps all get an A- , tee-box gets a B-. The price and the fact that few people play here keeps be coming back when visiting the area.
West course/overall review
They got rid of the driving range.small chipping/putt area. Golf carts are electric. Some days they have a mobile cart. You get what you pay for not a bad course to practice driver.
The course it self, tee boxes ain’t bad like 7/10.
The rough is really rough some areas off the fairway are over 8-12 inches of grass. Greens were okay a lot of weeds in the greens. Bunkers were semi maintain.
