West at Orangebrook Country Club

Apparently booking through the app isn’t the way to go here. Had a 240 tee time to play the West course, which is apparently the nicer of the two. I arrive 10 minutes early, no problem picking up my slip in the pro shop. I get to the starter’s desk and he tells me head to 10 on East because the front 9 is closed. After showing him my slip and explaining I’m playing West,, he says I’m not getting out on West for the next 40 minutes to an hour and explains I’ll need to play the other course instead. I remember the days when a tee time meant you teed off at the time you signed up for… on the course you signed up for.

West side was a good starter course, play from the blue or orange tees.

We have played this coarse before and it was good. Not sure I would pay their rates if not booked through

GolfNow ? Quite busy , it was a weekend and last minute paired with two other players. Went well and will

go back .

There's no beverage cart on the golf course......the 9th or any hole on the course comes by the club house so you can get a drink or snack. Golf Course has a rule no outside beverages allowed. How do you play 18 holes without getting refreshments ?

If you want a drink you would have to drive all the way back to the club house and then return to the home which would cause delays etc...

Need a beverage cart.....

Greens are in terrible condition full of weeds, dirt spots and very uneven due to weeds and lack of maintenance.

I was vacationing in FLA from Colorado and arrived at 9:30 to practice. Iwas able to get an 11:30 tee time on the West Course.

Pro Shop and Staff: The staff in the pro shop were helpful and suggested I play the west course. I had forgotten to pack tees, a hat, and a towel and the shop had these at reasonable prices.

Driving Range: The mats at the range were in good condition and there were numerous targets at varying yardages. However, most of the mats did not have rubber tees for practicing with my driver. I tried sticking a short, broken tee into the fibers of the mat but most of the time the ball fell off.

Restaurant: I ordered a hot dog, chips, and a Coke and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. My meal arrived in 15 minutes but was good.

Practice Green: This was my first time even putting on Bermuda greens. The practice green was in fairly good shape and after some practice I thought I understood how to put

on Bermuda.

Starter and Carts: The starter was pleasant and got me a cart 20 minutes before my tee time. However, he had no info about pin positions and said there was no system to determine pin positions.

Playing the course: The tee boxes and fairways were all in good condition. The rough was a little thick but playable. I used a yellow ball and was able to find it easily in the rough. Water came into play on only a few holds. Most of the greens were in quite good condition considering the traffic this course probably gets. A couple had some brown spots around the fringe that did not interfere with play.. The front 9 greens were noticeably slower than the practice green. A combination of missing fairways and green due to overswinging (the ball travels at least 10% less than what I'm used to at 5,000 foot elevations) and three putting several greens result in a 49 on the front 9. A light breeze dried out the greens a bit on the back 9 and I putted much better. I used my hybrids on approach shots with better results. More consistent play resulted in a 37 on the back 9. The group I was in finished in exactly 4 hours.

Conclusion: I had a very pleasant day of golf at Orangebrook West. I suggest that rubber tees be added to the mats on the practice range. I also suggest that some system (flags of three different colors?) be added. If I didn't have my rangefinder, I would have had more long puts on the back 9.

Not impressed.... First thing, you have to carry your own bag through a building to the golf course. And then when you’re done, you get to carry your bag back to the front entrance so that you can drive your car up to the bag drop, The conditions were very rough, the sand traps were mud andthe roofs are bareAnd very weedy.

I’ve been going to this course for years. The staff is amazing, the carts are well maintained and always work. Quick note, during the winter months is their high season with lots of snow birds. I would trade some tee time for a ski vacation in Quebec during their festival.

If this course stays in that condition,I’ll play it a few times a week. Only need to add sand in the carts buckets and install balls washer.

I played the west course, very big improvement only the balls washers are missing and the sand in the carts to fill the divots.I will return for sure
