Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club
About
Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club offers a championship course where you can enjoy a private and secluded setting free of homes anywhere near the fairways, tees, or greens. Donald Ross originally designed the golf course in 1924. It has a classic layout that has withstood the test of time to become one of the area's most popular public courses. Seasoned golfers will find that the course is not the most challenging but it is good for a casual round that will still keep you on your toes. The course is tight, requiring a fair amount of accuracy. There are not many hazards but there are some and they are very strategically placed. The layout is player friendly enough to accommodate a range of skill levels and the affordable rates make Hollywood Beach Golf & Country Club doubly appealing.

It's nice, not too challenging and you get a great value for your money. Definitely will go back !
Great layout, they are really improving the fairway and greens
The layout is challenging, with lots of water. Friendly staff, fast pace, perfect for me.
Love the layout but...
Overall layout is great. I love playing the old course designs. That said, the tee boxes were horrible, the fairways were mediocre to horrible and the greens were furry and really slow. The only things that were good to great were the sand traps and staff.
Greens are better
Lots of work, fairways are really nice, the greens are coming back and are well cared for. I really like the layout and the challenge, and pace of play.
A Shame
I suppose in it’s day this was a fine course in great condition. That day has long passed. Although a great layout, there is little green grass to be seen. Tee boxes are terribly bare, fairways are very rough with abundant bare spots. What grass there was on the “greens” was cut long resulting in terribly slow putts. If however you enjoy reptiles you will enjoy the iguana infestation. On the plus side is staff friendliness but that is certainly not enough to bring me back. I hope this course gets a major upgrade at some point but I am putting it on my unplayable list.
Worst Course EVER
I really do not think they even cut the grass.
No maintenance at all the greens or the worstni have ever seen. They don't roll the greens and the grass is all dead. The Tee boxes are the worst as well.
Blame Hollywood, not Hollywood Beach Golf Club
As the city of Hollywood continues to withhold voter-approved funds to rejuvenate its oldest track, this nearly 100-year old Donald Ross course will continue to suffer from lack of sufficient maintenance. And on April 1, the extremely dry conditions added insult to neglect as there were few good fairway lies during our foursome's dusty, robustly-paced round. The greens were bumpy and often brown, the bunkers flanking either side of the greens were usually hard, and the tee boxes were ground up. To be fair, many heavily-played tracks in South Florida are struggling with similar conditions, and by April, many courses in the area are somewhat beaten up
As usual, the Ross design featured strategically-placed ponds and ditches, but the picturesque, Par-70 course overall, was not threatening. Higher handicappers may find it tough to score on the long-ish Par 3's and Par 4's., but short Par 5's are gettable. While the staff was predictably friendly and efficient, the beverage cart service was lacking, particularly on a quiet golf day. The cozy snack bar inside the module next to the pro shop served up the tastiest bar-b-que sandwich in Broward County. In spite of its lamentable shape, the venerable HB is stilll worth playing for under $20.
Great course but...
Greens are so slow. The ball never made it to the cup unless you hit it extra hard and got real lucky. Other than that, it was nice.
It’s OK
Greens and Tee boxes are in rough shape but overall a good experience
Should not be charging premium prices for a course in this poor of condition.
I’ve played this course many times. Its never been in pristine condition, but it was in very rough shape this past weekend. To top it off they are charging too rates.
Worst Gold Course in South Florida
I won't play this cow patch ever again. Greens were terrible, fareways were rock hard and the greens are worst than cow patches. Worst of all they charge an additional $20 pp for a single cart. Making this $82 pp for a round of golf on a course i won't spend more than $25 on. Very disappointed and they won't see me again.
No cdc compliant.
Booked a tee time forced to wait for someone they paired me with that was late then told me I had to share a cart with this stranger during COVID 19 pandemic.
Not a Diamond in the rough
I've been playing this course for about a year now and after the 1st few times i played, i would have recommended this course to any friends who play. The couse is in rough shape and is a little dated as far as its layout but it has some challenging holes.
I found the staff to be very friendly.
As I've had the opportunity to play here more over the past 6 months i noticed things going a little sideways. Staff are not as friendly as they used to be. Especially Pete who works in the pro shop. This guy is anything but friendly. I get it, he's a GOM. Grumpy old man whos probably been doing this too long but he's a real smack off to use a North Eastern expression.
Combined by the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic. Theyre not doing the business they were before. I dont expect any special treatment by any means but make an effort to show some concrete customer service to a regular paying customer.
Bottom line is that i will not be playing this course again anytime soon.
Straight Forward Layout
Water hazards add to difficulty. Greens are a bit bumpy and slow but could be due to all the recent rain.
