Rate of the course
The course was great shape , it is getting too slow with a lot of walkers , need to have them keep up with the flow.
Course OK, Practice facilities poor
The course and conditions are good for the money as a player’s club member. Pace of play on the weekends is poor, weekdays good. Practice facilities are poor. During the pandemic there’s no reason to close the putting green and chipping areas. Those can be used while easily maintaining social distancing. The driving range is below average hitting off mats.
#1 course plays similar to Harding at Griffith Park. Can be challenging to reach the greens in regulation on some holes but overall not too difficult. There are a few holes that are pretty narrow; people hitting on opposite fairways super frequently. Someone tried to just steal my ball right in front because they assumed it was lost if that gives you any type of indication. I'm a fairly decent golfer and had a decent time playing here. Excited to play #2 and see how that goes!
Fun
Good walking course. Pace of play is fair to good depending on if get off early or not. Carts are new with GPS.
My first experience
Streamline checking, friendly staff, strict COVID-19 precautions, functioning GPS in very good carts. Fast and difficult to read greens.
Driving Range MUST be upgraded
I like both courses of the Brookside. Course 1 is long enough to struggle to reach the green in regulation, while you have to struggle on greens of Course 2. In compensation for the short distance, they made greens small and faster.
However, the driving range is the worst among LA golf courses. They have two types of mats on the driving range. Both should be upgraded. One is so thick that you have to maintain strong grip in hitting balls, which is not recommended in golfing, and the rubber tee you use becomes lower due to the thick mat. Another is so worn out that you also need a little strong grip. If you want to enjoy your game at the course, avoid the use of driving range. The best solution is that they upgrade mats on the driving range. I would then give 5 stars.
Senior rates
It is unfair to senior players like myself to not have the ability to get the Senior rate at time of booking the reservation. The website needs to be updated. To give the same price options that the course offers.
Both courses are nice, value is great. Because of the one cart per golfer rule be prepared for tee times after 130 to be delayed
Pace of play
The pace of play was slow on the back nine where we stack up
