Mt. Woodson Golf Club
About
Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

Very challengeable and interesting course on stony mountain.
But it's better for good players and not for the beginners.
Sceneries and mountain views were awesome and excellent than any other courses.
I can recommend this course to less than bogie players.
Bad condition
I’ve played Mt Woodson in the past. Normally it’s in great shape. However, the starter explained that the greens were burned by adding a undiluted fertilizer? Whatever the cause, the greens were horrible! More than 50% of every green was SAND! No grass!
Very disappointed!
Nice staff
The staff is as nice as they can be. Great personalities in everyone we dealt with.. the layout is really challenging but fun. You can’t go wrong playing at Mt. Woodson.
Greens diseased
Man this used to be such an amazing place to play. The course layout and challenge is top notch BUT the greens caught a disease and they are completely ruined. Most greens are mud and dirt.
Still have swing practice bays and no driving range. The practice green across the street also is diseased.
Hello! Thank you for the compliments. We are working hard to mend the greens. The consistent heat and humidity in Ramona has made it very difficult to get them back into our normal shape but please know we are doing what we can! Have a great day.
Disappointed
Usually, one of the most dependable courses from a conditions standpoint in SD county, I was terribly disappointed in the same. Every aspect was poor, but several greens were almost unplayable. Have not played here in a while (several months), but have never seen this course in such poor shape.
Hello, Sterling from Mt. Woodson here. We are just as concerned with the greens as you are, rest assured! The consistent heat and humidity in Ramona for the last several weeks has made it very difficult to mend the problems, but you can be sure we are working hard on it to get it back into the shape you are used to!
Slow golf on a Monday
This was a miserably slow round, on a Monday. It took us just under 5 1/2 hours to play. Four groups on the Par 3 number 9. I called the shop to ask for someone to check on the problem. We were told that the morning staff had left but they'd try to have someone check on it. Then at the turn we were told that the course was full all the way around. It was a Monday on a course that everyone is issued a cart. This is what a course ambassador does, encourage players to pick it up. Also, with warm weather, why isn't ice in the cart buckets? The guest need to go into the cafe and purchase ice. Not a great look for the management staff. No ambassadors and buy your own ice. Most golfers drive quite a distance to this course, maybe think about guest service a little more.
Hello harddraw, Sterling from Mt. Woodson here. I'm sorry you had a day of slow play, we usually do everything in our power to prevent that.
As far as the ice, hopefully you were told our full policy. We only charge for ice if you have not purchased anything from the bar or grill. This is because we have had a lot of problems with customers bringing their own alcohol, which jeopardizes our liquor license and our ability to serve. If you buy anything, we are more than happy to fill your cooler with ice for no additional charge. Also, it is impossible for our ice machine to keep up making enough ice for every cooler in this heat. I appreciate your comments and hope to see you back in the future!
Mt Woodson
Great people at course, pace of play bad, but been better. Fun place to play and challenging, good fries.
The Starters and Person behing the bar were not friendly .The gal behind the bar was not friendly to anyone., the starters were friendly to their regulars and seemed irritated that we were there.
Beautiful course
Challenging course, very beautiful landscape and great staff
Fun course, back 9 got backed up
First time playing and enjoyed the course very much. Played on a Saturday afternoon and it was all booked up it look like. A couple of the greens were being worked on so patches of flat dirt were visible. Lots of drives over rocks and water areas.
Biggest issue here was pace of play on the back 9 it looked like. Many of the holes are 300 yard par 4s so group ahead of us was waiting for entire holes to be clear so it got a little crazy near the end. Total play time was around 4 hours and 45 mins.
Short on yardage but accuracy at a premium. Good challenge but course management at a premium.
Great Round
A little warm and muggy this day. The fairways are looking good! Some greens and tee boxes are little rough around the edges, need a little tlc. Excellent and very attentive and friendly staff. Challenging lay out but I love it! Hit 'em straight or bring a pocket full of balls... Great day and round!
Great Experience
Always fun at Mt. Woodson. The staff is really nice and accommodating. They let me out a little early which was much appreciated.
We appreciate you coming out dvddude, and please rest assured we are not happy with our greens currently either. You were misinformed about the cause, we had a perfect storm of unfortunate events including our pump station going down. We are absolutely working on getting back to our normal great shape, but the consistent heat and humidity in Ramona is making it difficult work. Hope to see you back in the future!
