Mt. Woodson Golf Club
About
Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

New Bunkers
The course is always a favorite, but even better now with all new sand in bunkers. Great job.
Book Direct
I will NEVER use golfnow again. It is absolutely ridiculous that due to 2 members of 4some getting covid and even though I rebooked at same course 2 days after my original date they refused to refund my original booking. Golfnow made $240 and gave me NOTHING! Ridiculous!!!
Worth the trip and the green fee!
Mt Woodson never disappoints. Only two downsides this trip.
1. Only two bathrooms available...both at the clubhouse.
2. Many of the tee markers (whites) were set so far to the left of the box that - if you're a right handed slicer - you have almost no chance of getting a decent shot off the tee.
Mt Woodson
Great day, pace of play was good. Greens were average speed. Glad to see cart person driving around. French fries were average.
Course is in great condition.
The Group in front of us did not replace the divots, made many scuff marks and did not put soil in their divots.
Lastly, the group in front of us played extremely slow and the Marshall should have kept them up with the group in front of them.
Pace of play
It shouldn’t be the responsibility of the player to keep groups playing on time. It is very uncomfortable motivating groups to move forward.
Target Golf
First impression of practice area /green doesn't reflect actual course conditions! I recommend skipping putting and just chipping in that area and taking a "two-putt" maximum on the first green to get "actual" pace of the greens. Course conditions are above average and greens are consistent though difficult, so take your time reading the putts from more than one side. Definitely worth the drive to play this course.
Great fairways, nice greens.
Greens were pretty slow for my liking but also pretty hard so it made for sticking greens a challenge. The fairways were prime. I liked the touch of dye added to it for less water use. Definitely will play again probably from the back tees this time, the whites par 3s were pretty easy.
Absolutely Beautiful & Oh How Challenging!
This course offers some beautiful views and extremely friendly staff. But don’t think for a moment based on the shorter yardages that this is course isn’t challenging. With a combination of narrow fairways, ravines, water hazards, trees and sand traps, I would have to say that Mount Woodson Golf Course is easily one of the most challenging courses I’ve ever played (and I’ve played a lot of golf over a 30 year period). I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for the beginner. But, if you want to test your accuracy and take in some beautiful sites, this is the course for you. Although the tee boxes were a little chewed up in places, the fairways and greens were outstanding.
Fun Challenging Course near San Diego
Mt. Woodson is the definition of a public 4 star course worth a 50 dollar per round value. The views and difficult course layout entirely make up for average course conditions. Mt. Woodson fairways are a little dry and could use some work as they contain dirt patches at random intervals. The greens are slightly above average and have good speed. The sand traps leave something to be desired as half contain more dirt than sand. Where Mt. Woodson shines is the challenging layout of each hole. Most holes have dramatic changes in elevation that lead you to take difficult shots from uniquely sloped hills. Very fun place to learn or practice how to attack oddly sloped holes with strange angled approaches. Would definitely recommend to intermediate golfers but beginners beware, this course is narrow and it's easy to miss the fairway or green with a misplaced shot. Enjoy!
Still special
Course hasn’t changed since last played many years ago. Current owners have it in good shape. Unique course and experience. Every hole an adventure.
Hello, I'm not sure what you mean with your first comment. We have both men's and ladies' restrooms on holes 4 and 13, in addition to the 2 at the clubhouse which you go by at the turn. That is three opportunities to use bathrooms available during your round.
