Waterlefe Golf & River Club

Have played several times over the years. This was the worst experience. Overbooked. Slow play. Players behind hitting into our group. Messages on our GPS warning of slow pace of play about which we could do nothing were insulting. We could only proceed at the pace of those in front of us! We worried about completing the round before we had no daylight. It was a five hour round on a four hour course. So disappointing, given the green fee. Unlikely to play again with the current overcrowding policy. And certainly won't recommend to others..

My first round in this course, and I was presently surprised. The layout and course design were 5 star. I played after 2:00 to take advantage of the lower rate. The GPS attached to the course, was not at all accurate in terms of the yardage to the pin. This caused

Due to Miss clubbing myself. Overall it was definitely a positive experience. Make sure to spray yourself with bug spray, the no see I’m bugs were very active.

You MUST hit your T ball STRAIGHT and allow for LOTS of runoff. SLOW PAY due to older members that don't speed up....waited on MOST holes.

Course was in great condition but the pace of play was horrible . People behind us we’re aggressive always hitting into us and was hit by a ball on the 14 th as we were leaving the green . Foursome ahead of us was two holes behind and super slow . We ended up quitting on the 15th in disgust . Too bad cause we really enjoy this course . So the question was how did I enjoy my round on Sunday the 13th .? Worst round ever in Florida in the 25 years we’ve been coming .

I really enjoyed the variety of holes on this course. Water does come into play on most holes but the landing areas are bigger than they appear from the tee box. The greens were true, in great shape and fast. The sand traps were in great shape. I would have preferred a little longer and thicker fairway grass. Pace of play was about 4 hours 30 minutes on a Saturday morning. The back nine plays tougher than the front so score early. As all golf courses in this general area I though the green fee of $145 was a little steep but unfortunetly in par with the other courses in the general area.

A lot of Sarasota area golf courses seem really challenged to maintain high quality course conditions “in season”. Waterlefe is highly rated on Golf Now for good reason. Really beats the competition hands down. Paid full boat but would you rather a 4 hour round on a well conditioned course or a 5+ hour round on burned out bumpy greens for $50 less. A lot of water and waste area which may not appeal to some but again greens are top notch

Great course, it gets tougher as you go along with a lot of water in play on the back.

Enjoyable challenge, very friendly courteous staff

An excellent challenging layout with wonderful views especially on the back nine. Not a course for the occasional or beginner golfer. Conditions were fine, greens were a bit slow however, fair., and bunkers were in good conditions. The rate is overpriced, especially for an afternoon tee time. Will play it again if a more reasonable rate is available.

We had a great time at this course. Great layout, great condition. Pretty scenery. Bring your A game.

First time back here in 4 or 5 years. Course is even better now. Special thanks to Mark in the pro shop for accommodating a late arrival based on my Golfnow reservation which was out of synch with their tee sheet. Always a great experience at a fabulous course.

First time at this course, played with a member who offered great advice on how to play each hole. Great layout, especially the back nine, scenic and challenging - greens rolled very true. Staff at check in were very friendly as was the on-course ranger who stopped a couple times to ask about my round. Finished the round in just under 4 hours which is always appreciated., Will definitely play this course multiple times before I head back north,.

Great experience from the moment we arrived. Course in good condition. Undulating greens are a challenge. Lost balls to water by not reviewing the GPS. Best course played north of Bonita Bay.

From the time you arrive your greeted by someone taking your bag and put it on a cart. Staff nice in clubhouse also. As far as the course it’s a challenging and fun. Greens and fairways in good shape . I played 160 rounds of golf last year and as a visitor I highly recommend this one! Put it on your list!
