Timacuan Golf Club

About
Nestled in the gently rolling hills of Lake Mary Timacuan is a Ron Garl designed course. The front nine is reminiscent of a Scottish links-style course, with wide open fairways, rolling hills and deep bunkers. Watch the wind and keep it low!
Waste bunkers garnish the back and water comes into play on several holes. In a poll, GolfWeek Magazine ranked Timacuan the 14th best course in the state. Bobby Weed renovated the course in 1996. The course is located just 15 minutes from downtown Orlando and winds through beautiful lakes and wooded areas.
Hole No. 2 is rated as "most challenging in Central Florida"

Getting better
Still not in the best condition but getting better. Greens were good as were the fairways. Tee boxes need help as do some of the sand traps. Also the 1st cut off the fairway needs a lot of work, but still a challenging course and a fun layout.
Dog water
Tee boxes were trash half of them were sand , fairways were terrible very muddy . Greens were mid not terrible but not great .lots of water and hazards difficult course but could be fun if it was properly taken care of .
Has Timacuan Given Up?
Easily one of the saddest courses I've been to. From the teebox, to the fairways, to the green, there is not an area that isn't patchy or under repair. Sprinklers were firing on 4 teeboxes directly mid-afternoon which I'm sure will burn off whatever grass is left.
That being said, the course layout isn't awful. Some tricky holes. But if you're trying to have fun at all on a course, stay clear away.
Lost potential
I try not to give bad reviews but I just couldn’t leave this one out. The grounds were not taken care of well at all. A lot of the tee boxes were just dirt. Almost all the greens were super patchy. Most fairways were either dead or over grown. Practice facility was bad as well. Even the pro shop was junk. Not worth the money I paid to play there. What makes it worse is how much potential it could have. The lay out is perfect. Just not kept up with at all
Ok course
We booked 3 that was pre-paid. When the 3rd player went in to get the key for his cart he was questioned if we had only 3 players. Weak, If I had a forth I would be the first to say.
Course needs a lot of work
I’m not sure why they made this course private. It used to be a great course but its extremely neglected now. Glen Abbey is currently in better shape and they still charge like $20. The layout is a cool course but they have to either open this course up and drop the price or shut it down and put the money into it that a member should expect.
Such a shame
I read the reviews before playing, but I was curious to see what the course was like. I played the gold tees and only 1 tee box had any grass. The fairways and greens were patchy, but mostly playable if you manipulated your lie. If only it was in a little better shape, it would be fun to play because the layout is good.
I would recommend playing only if you want to see for yourself how bad it is or you want to play 18 in well under 3 hours. It's a shame the ownership hasn't done much to fix it up over the last year.
Course is struggling
Couldn’t even finish the round due to course conditions. Greens were full of fungus and many fairways had no grass at all
Second time playing this course, it’s got an incredibly fun and challenging layout. Conditions aren’t as bad as reviews say. Hopefully it keeps improving!
Timacuan golf course
Golf course was in terrible condition couldn’t really putt the greens due to loss of grass and tee boxes and fairways had very thin or little grass felt like i was playing in sand all round . Honestly looks like there closing down main clubhouse was locked up and very few playing the course. I wouldn’t go back again
The WORSE conditions in Central Florida
Do not play this course. From tee to green it's. AWFUL!!!
The parking lot was empty and it's clearly a reason why. The tee boxes are sand the fairway has no grass and most important the greens are unplayable.
If you get a hot deal for $10 DON'T BUY IT!!! This course should be closed
This has to be the worst course conditions I’ve played in a long time
There is no way this course should be an option for anyone. This course has so much potential yet it doesn’t appear that any work, time or efforts have been put into it make this great course layout a desire for anyone to play. It’s been a while since I’ve played it, (before the course went private) but it appears going private ruined this course. Not sure why they switched the pro-shop from the main clubhouse to the small shack with a AC window unit near the driving range - all seems very weird.
The good news: It rained hard for about 10 minutes which main the entire course unplayable due to all the standing water. After the rain, luckily we didn’t have to bare anymore of the already terrible conditions. I haven’t got in contact with GolfNow yet, but I feel like I should be paid for showing up to this course. I feel bad for the million dollar home owners that paid a premium to live on this once amazing course.
Actually not bad
I grew up next to this course and wanted to see if it was as bad as a lot of these reviews have been saying. It actually turned out to be halfway decent. Not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Some of the tee boxes and greens definitely need some love but the course layout is probably the most fun and challenging in the area and everything around it is beautiful. Hoping the course stays public and brings in the money to revitalize the place I’d love to play here more often if they get it back in good shape.
