Timacuan Golf Club

I decided to book a tee time here as it had been a while since I've played here. The course had gone private last year so it was not an option until recently.

Under the assumption that the conditions of the course would be first-rate, I will say that I was extremely disappointed to find that the course was totally unsatisfactory.

The tee boxes were either overgrown, full of weeds or lacking grass altogether. The greens were patchy at best, and many had large areas of sand (and not due to aeration). Should have taken pictures just to show how bad the conditions were.

The young man who checked us in at the pro shop seemed bored or bothered that he had to ring us up. The young ladies in the grill were very nice.

I could go on about how bad of an experience it was, but I don't think that it will do any good.

Wish that I could have given a better review because this used to be a great course, but I don't believe that the owners really care based on what I experienced. DISAPPOINTING!

Great championship layout. I have never played a course in such terrible condition, ever. Played here once before, and I love the design. It was in such bad shape, I quit playing after 9 holes. Greens were top dressed, which I appreciated because it means they were actually doing something. On number 1, the green had a broken sprinkler that created a lake. Tee boxes were without grass, unkempt, etc.

Have heard of nice the course has been and the past and how they’re working to get back there but they’re as far from it as you can be. They are charging way too much

I used to love this course. New ownership has not been keeping up with maintenance. Many greens are 80% sand. There are patches of grass in the fairways, I guess. With some TLC could be a great course again, but more likely some new housing. I've seen this movie before.

Great layout but bad maintenance and lousy greens, old golf carts. Course is in terrible shape.

This course is honestly shameful to charge what they’re charging. The layout is decent but it is quite literally the worst conditioned course I have EVER played. I say this without a hint of exaggeration or hyperbole. It’s truly awful. We stopped playing after 9 hole.

With the amount of growth that has happened in the game there is plenty of opportunity to renovate this course and start charging more money to fund the debt payments. I would not be surprised if this place is sold soon and that would be for the better.

Let me start by saying that I would give this place zero stars if I could. The fact that someone charges $56 to play here, and is somehow still able to sleep at night, is baffling. Don’t bother bringing your putter, because there are no greens on this course, only areas of sand and weeds that resemble the shape of a small green. Fairways look like pastures that have been somewhat thinned out by a herd of small goats. Bunkers look like they haven’t been manicured since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Whatever you can imagine for the worst course you’ve ever played, double it and you might be getting close to the deplorable conditions here. We managed to play 6 holes before quickly heading back to our cars. Please do yourself a favor and play anywhere other than here. Seriously….anywhere. Your back yard would be a better option.

Course was in extremely bad shape. Greens had been aero rated two weeks prior to our playing. Golf Now did not give any indication. Pro Shop employee apologized for course condition in advance of play.

Course and facilities are very run down. Lived in the community until 2002 and played the course 2 years ago before it went private. The Facilites and course shape are very deuterated.

First time playing here in over a year. Worst it’s ever been by far. Don’t play here unless it’s free.

To be clear this course has been taken over by new management so hopefully it turns itself around but I wouldn't think about playing here again for at least another year with the prices the way they are and what you get out of the deal...

The course itself has come a long way from when I last played 2 years ago. Fairways are full of grass and you can see the work they are doing on the greens. I can't wait to see this course again next year it's going to be even better! The layout is hard to beat. There is elevation change and alot of fun callanging holes. The conditions are not perfect but the layout is just so fun I would always recommend.

I was told this was a private course so my expectations were somewhat high. When I got there I was shocked to see how bad of shape this course was in. They need to do major renovations before they can start asking people to be a “member” here. On the bright side the food was amazing at the clubhouse and Marie the bar tender did a great job.

This is a private club that I imagine is trying to garner some new membership. I noticed that the 18th green was sanded and made a comment to the staff who dismissed it and said that they weren't all like that and the greens rolled good still. So we payed and went and played and within a few holes realized that the course was just not in good shape. I don't know what's going on here, I played here a couple years ago before they went full private and the cours4e was very nice. Beware before you book.

Should not have been that expensive to play this course. Tee boxes poor condition, greens very poor. Airiation was not the problem
