Magnolia Plantation Golf Club
About
A beautifully secluded property, Magnolia Plantation has a variety of tees. Architect David Harman routed the 7,175-yard course through the forest and wetlands, linking holes together using a recurring theme of pines, tabletop greens, and water. Surrounded by various hardwood trees and native vegetation, the fairways are rolling and meticulously maintained as they weave among 13 lakes and ponds. Water is directly present on 12 approaches, employed alternately as an opportunistic challenge and a punishing hazard. It is a unique and stylish course. With peace and quiet everywhere: you, your game and nature all coexist at Magnolia Plantation.

worst course conditions i ever plalyed
Now I know how difficult golf used to be back in the 1800's the course conditions were so bad even on the greens your ball could change direction 4 different times the roughest greens and course conditions I have ever seen. Its like the owners have given up.
Good day of golf
New to the area and played the course simply because of the price. I had heard some bad reviews on it so I was nervouse but tried it out anyway. The course looked in good condition compared to what I had been hearing and I brought a couple of buddies there and we actually had a great ecperience. Went into the bar for lunch and drinks and the staff was very attentive and explained how the course was in the process of being brought back to beauty. I enjoyed the challenge of the place and will be coming back to play
Like playing in a farm field
Played Magnolia for the first time in about a year. The fairways were poorly kept. Conditions ranged from hardpan to weeds with the occasional bed of mud. The first cut and rough around the greens were overgrown and the greens were in poor condition.
It wasn't busy, but that was not a surprise considering the condition of the course. Would not play again.
Looking good
I played this course about two months ago and it was obvious that it needed work. I went back a couple days ago to try again and it looked great compared to what it was. It seems that they are restoring it to its former glory which im very happy about considering its one of the more challenging courses around.
Progress
The course is looking well kept and attended too lately, everything from the greens to the tee boxes seem to be getting into better shape from what they have been with the new owner. Very pleased with the course today.
The Course is in a death spiral!
I don't often write reviews. For those reviewers among the locals this course is now beneath Casselberry, Glenn Abbey, Deer Run and Mayfair. I feel sorry for Mike Bender's golf school.
Front nine appears to have been cut recently, but not the back. Greens were very furry. Somebody had raked the bunkers though. Fairways mostly had grass but was about 50/50 weeds.
Not a single item of merchandise in the pro shop,
Not bad for the $9 I paid but I hope there is a plan for this place!!!!! But at full rate, you would want your money back
I do not recommend this course.
The tee boxes were in fair shape, the fairways reminded me of my own front yard, in need of cutting and maintenance and weed killing. The bunkers were hard and not sandy but in respect they are hazards, but in poor shape. The greens were from average to very poor, with one of the par threes having mole or gopher tracks running through the green, which brought to mind, Caddyshack!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't waste your time or your money!!
This course has not been maintained, the fairway was like the rough, it has not been mowed or watered. The greens were mole infested and mostly dirt. We were so disgusted with the course we will NEVER go back.
Former beauty is sick and dying
This course was a gem a few years ago but went through bankruptcy and has a new owner. The conditions are horrible; greens are un-puttible, fairways un-cut, sand is mud. Hope the new owner brings back the awesome layout.
Course is in extremely poor condition
In its current condition the course not worth playing at any price. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
greens were weedy and uneven
The view from the first tee was disappointing. The course looked overgrown and badly in need of a trim. The greens are uneven and full of bare spots and junk grass. The fairways were also spotty but there was grass in most places. The rough was thick and a little too long. It was easy to lose a ball in the rough which slows play. Needs several applications of weed killer and fertilizer on the greens. It is a good design. I hope the new management can bring it back to its former glory.
Not good
This course was not maintain weeds in sand traps ,weeds in fairway and greens are bad
Stay Away!
There is no other way to say it ...this is a bad golf course. The greens are either bald or hairy, the tee boxes are unkempt, and the fairways are unkind. The only positive was that the bartender was nice.
The layout is great but the course has gone down hill and does not appear that it will ever become a premier Orlando area course again.
Once upon a time this was a terrific course. The overall condition is poor. They have grass and irrigation problems galore! I've always liked the layout and only played it again because of the price being so low (less than $10.00).
Unmaintained and a mess
Staff were not very helpfull.. The cours was in terrible condition.. Rough was 14 in tall.. The maintenance staff did not yield to play..
Could be great course if better maintained!
Our first experience was a little disappointing, but we had fun. It could be a beautiful course if it were better maintained. Most of the "rough" grass was so high, it was difficult to impossible to find a ball if it went off the fairway. The cart paths were rough or muddy and under water. Also, a first time player would have a hard time finding the next hole as they weren't marked very well. There was a lot of debris from storms lying around too. The greens had just been aireated, and grass was sparse. We will give this course another chance because there is potential..not to mention its a fun, challenging course. Lots of water..some in front of the greens! Give it a try! OH..we saw wild turkey and deer!
Worst course I've ever played. Owner is doing nothing to improve horrible Golf Course conditions. Do not play repeat do not play
course is overgrown. Maintenance staff did not show up and start mowing until after 8. Counter person was very nice.
Poorly maintained
Wow this course really has gone downhill under new management. At 10:30 AM and this course on a Saturday was dead. The range was empty. Putting green unmaintained dead grass with weeds. Course was not maintained; The grass in the rough was up to the calf muscles. Even better rough areas would about cover your ball completely. Fairways holding puddles in many areas with no rain recently. Cart tracks with rutts on fairways left your ball in bad lies. Hard packed sand in bunkers that had been hardened down for quite sometime had grass growing in the middle of them. Was really a disappointment considering I used to play Tournaments here. Club house Pro-shop was empty; no gear...nothing. About the only thing I didn't check was the bathroom. with rates of 38 dollars.... No Way would I come back here. Sorry for bad review; but it is what it is.
Fun course. Greens were in rough shape.
I've played here e few times. Overall the course is nice. The course is chalanging and the nature is great. Deers, gators, turkeys and other animals are often present. However it could use some better maintenance. The greens were like deserts on some holes. And the rough grass needs a better mow. U can watch ur ball go in and never find it again. I did enjoy playing there and will still go again. I just hope they fix these issues.
terrible condition
Have played this course many times. Super tough, some unfair holes for the senior golfer (#'s 5, 10, and 16), but I enjoyed the challenge. But in recent months the course has been let go: Fungus is ruining most of the greens and grass/weeds along fairways and greens are not being cut. Roll off the fairway or green and you ball is lost in one to one and one half feet of grass/weeds. I will not play it again.
