Magnolia Plantation Golf Club
About
A beautifully secluded property, Magnolia Plantation has a variety of tees. Architect David Harman routed the 7,175-yard course through the forest and wetlands, linking holes together using a recurring theme of pines, tabletop greens, and water. Surrounded by various hardwood trees and native vegetation, the fairways are rolling and meticulously maintained as they weave among 13 lakes and ponds. Water is directly present on 12 approaches, employed alternately as an opportunistic challenge and a punishing hazard. It is a unique and stylish course. With peace and quiet everywhere: you, your game and nature all coexist at Magnolia Plantation.

This course was in bad condition
18 holes of standing. In water. Played at this course. 4 times no change.
from chuckieg
my son and I played on 8/13/13 and had a great round the course\
the course is challenging and the greens are in better than fair shape we scheduled our round off of golf now and were pleasantly surprised at the price
Long way to go
I'm a believer in the GC. It has new management since April/May (the last time I played there consistently. This play has excellent potential to reclaim the membership. However, the new owners need to spend much $$$ on staff & equipment. Success depends on this. Otherwise we all would lose a once regarded course.
Please spend money, kill the fairway and green weeds, give us a shot in finding a wayward tee shot lands in the secondary rough (basically like US OPEN rough now). Please turn this place around!!
Hope the response to the reviews is true
The course needs some tender care, looks like it is forth coming as there were maintenance crews in multiple areas during our play. Course layout is a challenge. If there are good reviews, I will challenge the course again in late November when I return to the area.
Conditions the worst played YTD!!!!
Grass not mowed, weeds on greens, bunkers like concrete, and not ice or water for players in 90+ heat!!! Save your money
In bad condition
Played this course in 2012 and it was in great condition. However since then it has gone into receivership and is in awful condition. No products in the pro shop, would not recommend this course currently.
Bad news
I had a horrible experience yesterday at Mag. Plantation .the course seems as though its been left to nature.. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews, since I have been having wonderful experiences with my golfnow selections, and wonderful deals.(my bad) Also it rained cats and dogs which did not help. I understand they are going through a new ownership situation. Hope it gets resolved, this could be and probably was a fantastic venue.(wonderful wild life !)
Awful
This course should not even be open right now let a lone charging people to play on it. It is in terrible shape from tee box to green. There are no fairways, nothing is mowed and the sand is unplayable.

This course was unplayable!!! We stopped after 9 holes due to the extremely poor condition on the course. The entire course needs to be re-done!!!
The entire course needs to be re-done!!! It is in terrible condition and it was a complete waste of time and money. It was very upsetting having to stop after 9 holes because the course was unplayable!!! I would highly recommend removing this course from your website because it is not worth playing for any amount of money. The new owner has let it deteriorate more than ever and it is embarrassing to the golf community of Florida!!!

Course has fallen apart
Rough never gets mowed. If your ball isn't in the fairway. Good luck finding it. Fairways have weeds all over them. Greens have weeds all over them. Course is in rough shape. Most definitely not worth $30 wouldn't even pay $20

Horrible Experience
This course used to be one of the best in the area and it used to be kept very well. Now its a shady field with 3 feet high weeds growing everywhere, 18 holes and flags in the middle of what the management considers "greens".
I was shocked too see this once a gem in this horrible state.
Certainly not going back there again.

Who ever owns this course needs to invest heavily in a lawn mower.
If you can get past the poor turf conditions and the three feet tall fairway weeds. You can stare down a patch of land from the tee box and not be able to tell what is fairway until you hit the ball and realize you're in the four feet tall rough.
if you lucky enough to find your ball on the fairway behind a large growth of crab grass you have the opportunity to hit it onto a really pour surface they call a green. Most other courses would call this length of grass fairway.
No need to rake sand traps, most are overgrown with weeds and are unplayable.
If you want to play like its a post apocalypse world without people. This golf course is the Mad Max golf course of your dreams.

The course is in horrible shape. Save your money and time. The rough is 3 foot high weeds.
The rough is at least 3 feet high in most spots. It's obvious this course is in big trouble financially as they don't put the resources into maintenance.

This course offers many water challenges but the knee high grass and snakes makes me wonder about the ownership!!
This course offers many water challenges but between the knee high grass found throughout the course, the waist high grass on the tee boxes and the snakes in the fairways makes me wonder if I am on a nature trail and not a golf course. This course is located in an 'exclusive' neighborhood but it is maintained similar to a ghetto location.

Challenging course with lots of water
Nice course but it is overun with weeds. There are some great homes surrounding the course as well as some great ponds with a few alligators too. Lots of fun and a little dangerous. I liked it but the course needed to be maintained a little better.
I usually love this course, unfortunately it is in the worst condition I have ever seen. Under new management.
The conditions of this course are extremely poor right now. I've played this course many times and it's never needed this much maintenance.

Course needs lots of maintenance
I've have always loved magnolia plantation, it's a very challenging course. However, the past few times I've played there I am more disappointed than the time before. The fairways and the greens need attention. There's a sign at the club house saying they are under new management so hopefully it will turn around soon. If it was a cheaper fee it would be okay but it's not worth what they are charging right now.

This course need help......
Not sure if they have a maintenance crew at this course, but it looked as if the fairways and rough had not been cut within the last two to three weeks.

I would recommend the course for the price but it is in need of some serious TLC.

Not up to Par
It might have been the different grasses growing in the fairways or not having markers at the 150 or 100 to the green or maybe it could have been that there was no way to identify where the pins were on the greens from 100 yards out. If that didn't do it, it might have been the $10 weak drinks or the rather dismissive staff. It might have even been the fact that there were no rain shields on the front of the carts and it rained half my round. What ever it was, I didn't really enjoy my round there. It is a shame as well, the course was nicely made and has some real challenging holes but I probably won't be going back.
