Golfer Reviews
Greens were running fast and true. Fairways dry and bare in places. Pace of play was 3 hours and 45 minutes—excellent anytime much less in season.
Slow Day at WinstonTrails
Course was very crowded. Carts were not available until shortly before you teed off and without being cleaned or stocked with more sand. We were sent out at about a half hour late on the back nine. Round took 5 hours. Other than that, course is in great shape.
Awful
First and last time ever playing here. 5 hour round and terrible attitude from the staff.
Fun course for various skill levels
This course is large and maintained well. The fairways were solid and the greens were great. Staff were helpful and friendly. I'm a beginning golfer and this was a challenging yet forgiving course to play. Although there is a lot of water, the fairways are pretty big and I only lost one ball off the tee box on a par 3 over the water. All in all, a very fun golf course to play for the value and I will be back!
Lives up to the hype
Course is great from tee to green. Would gladly play it again from shorter tee boxes. Par 3 are too long for us geezers from the Whites
Good track.
Winston Trails is a very solid track with multiple tee boxes for all types of players. course is challenging but very fair. Unfortunately the pace of play was very slow. We waited on just about every shot and there weren’t any rangers that were interested in speeding things up. The greens were a little slow. and should be sped up a bit. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and they have good dining options. Overall a worthwhile place to play but could be even better.
worthy challenge
I play this course once a week in my league. I introduced it to friends yesterday. They enjoyed the course, but the slow pace of play caused us to leave after 16 holes to make a 6:30 dinner reservation. The two men in the foursome ahead of us should have played from forward tees, based on observed lack of skill. They also demonstrated poor course ettiguette, knowing they were holding up groups behind but taking a lot of time to look for lost balls.
Attitude
Inattentive to rude staff!! Seemed like we were bothering them for for being there. No issues with course just lazy rude people.
Owners should restaff!!
Winston is a winner
One of the best public courses in the area with some of the most consistent and smooth running greens you will find. Great staff too!
Slow pace
Took over 5 hrs to play round
Group in front of us was very slow and no ranger approached them even after we asked to jump a hole
Other than that course in great shape, very long
Be aware of tee markers
Blacks in front of whites
Blues are tips
Course plays very long from whites
We should have moved up to blacks
Great Value
Really great value for this course. It was your typical Florida golf course (surrounded by houses/ water), but was relatively forgiving off the tee. Also had nice greens and some fun holes. For what I paid, I will definitely be playing there again if I'm in the area.
Very Slow Play
Took over 4 1/2 hours to play round, our group all shot low to mid 80's.
All of a sudden on the 3rd tee box another foursome appeared in front of us. Weren't there for holes 1 and 2.
Ranger on tee box and let them tee off before us.
Had to wait almost every shot. At least 1 full hole open in front of them most of round.
Other than that had nice time, course plays long from white tee boxes.
So Slow, read a magazine between holes
I started out advised I would run into a father and son pair playing, with a three some in front of them, yet there was one single whom just couldn't help himself dropping extra balls to play alternate shots at each interval. After calling the pro shop, the ranger advised skipping two holes (at this point I was playing 10-20 minutes behind pace of play), which allowed me to finish my 18 hole round 35 minutes after sundown. The course scorecard listed :14 interval between holes, which explains a 4:30 pace of play, which is great unless you start anytime after 2pm with sunset at 6pm. I would enjoy this course more I guess with a morning tee time, just not in the afternoon its too slow. Otherwise the course is perfect.
