Golf Course Etiquette
We really enjoyed the this course and the staff but the people that play this course was very rude. First off their was a group of two in front of us that didn’t have a care in the world for pace of play or keeping people waiting behind them. They probably spent 10-15 minutes a hole looking for the balls they hit all over the course. When we made the turn they decided to go inside sit down and chill and when we left the green on 9, they were just driving to hole 10. So we decided to go in and cool off and get a drink and when we got to number 10 they were just now in the fairway. We decided to skip them when we got to hole 11 because they obviously were not going to let us play through and they didn’t like that to much. When we hit our drives on number 12 we could hear them yell at us from the middle of the fairway. Then before we could pull off they drove up to the green and told us that we were rude for passing them. We got all the way to the green on the next hole and they still hadn’t tees off the previous hole. Then we got to hole 13 and their were two groups of women that were playing in front of us and we sat on the tee box and watched them tee off and they were obviously not going to let us play through so we decided not to wait another two hours at this pace to just play 6 more holes so we quit our round. We are not from this area but read really good reviews about this course and were disappointed when this happened. When we told the clubhouse what had happened their response was “yeah those ladies play 6 hour rounds.” To me they don’t need to let them play during the peak time or have Marshall’s on the course that can help with pace of play especially on a Friday. The next time we are down here on vacation we will probably not play this course again.
Mature Course with fun layout.
This course is a really fun track to play. There’s undulating fairways and greens. Tee boxes are flat, fairways were definitely in great shape. They are working on the greens this time of year but I can tell they are on their way up. Love the mature look of the tree lined fairways. Will be back!!!
Greens
Most of the greens were horrible lot of bare spots a lot of the tee boxes for in really bad shape Fairways we're good. Not sure what has happened to their greens but the need to do something different than what they're doing now never seen him this bad before.
Greens died completely..
Course had the best greens last two years , but something happened and there all dead and horrible now .. Hope they can get them back...
Majestic Vistas!
Beautiful course and layout. Some of the greens on the front nine were suspect and a bit sparse due to some frost this past winter. Not to worry though, they will come back quickly. Every one is so nice at this course. Things are just transitioning from winter to spring. Turning green but not quite a rapid growth yet. I always have lots of fun playing here.
Worst greens I ever platey on.
The course had a pretty good layout and the fairways were pretty good. Now for the greens, if you want to call them that. They were HORRIBLE!!! More sand than grass. It was not a fun day and after driving an hour and a half to get there and pay $39 each, it's not someplace i'll play again. Golf Now should have a warning for courses in that kind of condition.
Rocky Bayou
Nice member owned golf club. Fairly wide fairways, with bunkers. Not terribly long from the white tees, so very playable. Greens are big with a lot of undulation, just not much grass on them. Sure this is due to time of year I played what I really liked was the hills! Especially on the back nine, some pretty good up hill and down hill shots that you don’t see much in this part of Florida.
Always enjoy playing this course
I love the layout of this course and always enjoy playing it. The greens were in terrible condition which was disappointing.
Greens
Some of the greens are a little rough there working on them hopefully they will be much better than next time I come. Although I enjoyed myself with the group I was with it.
Great value course in Destin area
In Destin for a week of golf, and this is the fourth course we have played. Got a great price (hot deal) on Kelly Plantation, so it was the best course of our trip, but for every day rates Rocky Bayou is the best value course we played.
Greens were fast and smooth, despite their appearance — some looked VERY good, others looked like the greens crew was trying to fix some problems — but all rolled fast and true.
Fairways were in good shape, for this time of year. Some of the rough was a bit thin, but again, not too bad for this time of year — and certainly better than a couple courses we played.
A nice variety of holes — not a lot of water in play, but some actual elevation changes. Some trouble to be found if you get wild, but very playable course. Like most Destin courses we’ve played, traps have NICE sand to play out of — something us northerners would kill for to have back home.
Pace of play was great! Played as a twosome, and several four and fiivesomes let us play through. Finished in about two and a half hours.
A nice day of gol!
ROCKY
Really enjoy this golf course, it is becoming one of my favorites. I have been playing this course for the last 3 years in the winter months and have brought at least 10 friends to this course, all have enjoyed playing here. Will continue playing here !
The course is in quite rough condition. Tee boxes have very little grass and fairways are still in winter condition. Greens are just starting to come around. For the $45 the course is ok,
Nice course
Very nice course for this time of the year, I’ve played it in better conditions but with not much rain it can be expected to be dry
Hidden gem
Enjoyed the course. It was in good shape for the time of year. A couple of holes have blind tee shots and I would have liked to know the distance to the water but overall a nice layout. Bathrooms were provided on both front and back nines at perfect locations to access them from more than one hole. Greens were a bit rough and looked faster than they were. Staff were friendly and the food was fast and delicious. I would recommend this course
