Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
About
There are three nines at the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club, which can be played individually, consecutively, or as three different 18-hole combinations. Each nine has a unique layout with different challenges but all share the same lush landscape covered with stately trees and water features. The Panther/Bobcat combination offers a mix of narrow and wide fairways, some of which are lined with trees. A few strategically placed bunkers come into play along the greensides and there are also water hazards coming into play on a number of holes. Located just northwest of Tampa along the west Florida coast, the nines represent the best of Florida golf. Silver Dollar also boasts some of the area's most affordable rates, which makes the versatile layouts doubly appealing.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Silver Dollar
Only 9 holes open out of 27, I would rate this as a beginners course not well kept, there is a rifle range in the next field with shots going off regularly. No sign of any wildlife.
A great place to practice
This is a great course to try that new driver or that 6 iron you never use, You can also recover very easily from a bad shot. I enjoyed the course.
No. No. And did I say no?
The fact that this property carried 3.6 out of 5 stars at the time of my review is truly an embarrassment. Only way this place would be worthy of that rating would be from people who don't know what a true four-star golf course is...or a three-star course...or even a two-star course. The fact that Silver Dollar is referred to as "scenic" in the description on this website is laughable. There is absolutely nothing to look at except the trailer park that borders the golf course. Well, there is the horribly maintained chain link fence that actually borders one of the first fairways. Golf carts are skeletons (no windshields, club covers or GPS), tee boxes have few flat spots and the course design offers nothing of significance. Somehow, this place made me feel like I had played golf at a flea market. Sure, the greens on the Panther nine were in good shape. However, just having some well-maintained greens does not make up for all the obvious shortcomings in every other category. If you take any pride in where you play golf, you do not belong here at any price.
Great day
Played 18 holes in just under 4 hours. Overall great shape. Great value and great staff.
MR
the course playing at white tees very long . the greens were fast. tee boxies need work.
1st Time Back in a Few Months and..............
And it was great! What a difference from the winter months. The course was green and well kept. The greens were in excellent shape. A huge improvement from when I played here in April. In April the fairways were in poor shape and the greens were terrible. I'm glad to see this golf course looking so green and lush. Lots of wildlife running around. Gators on the Gator course and bring your big stick for the back to back par 5's #16 and #17. I enjoyed my last round played out here on July 7th so much that when I saw a hot deal for Sliver Dollar again $12 bucks, I booked it immediately .
A great course for a casual player
Excellent course maintenance and landscaping. Plenty of water hazards which add to the esthetics of the course (and challenges). We really liked the big green umbrellas along the course.
Ground Keepers all over
Too sad.... What could it be a great Golfing day turned to be a wait-to-play day. Our tee time was for 8:00am and since the beginning at hole #1 there were ground keepers on all 18 holes there after. Regardless that there were NO players behind us for at least one hour something that should have been taken in to consideration. Bottom line...not fun at all!!!
great greens
I have played this course before, I brought a friend for the first time. We both enjoyed the day, we even seen 3 deer's on the course. It was well worth the money, the green's were in great shape. Looking forward to play there again.
course conditions
Course was in good shape, especially the back nine where the greens were in much better shape than front.
New customer.
Played the course twice , last Friday and Tuesday of this week.
On the first hole on Friday, my pardoner was bashed by a course employee for failing to rake the sand trap which was located at the edge of the green before he had time to do so.
Welcome to our course.
Yesterday, as we were making our way across the fairway on our way to the green, another course employee threw his hands up in the air and said"thanks for riding across the tee".
The tee was simply a spot in the fairway, not raised, and we simply did not recognize it as the red tee.
Bottom line, my partner and I have played many years and would never knowing do anything to hurt a course.
Two time at this course and two times admonished for something .
We will NEVER play at Silver Dollar golf course again.
Improving course conditions and an interesting layout.
Lots of twists and turns....first time player should play with someone familiar with the course. A few straight holes but those are narrow. A short course with the exception of 3 par 5's which are longer than the norm.
Overall, course needs maintenance completed...work in progress. Greens have improved much but still a little rough. Fairways need work.
Cow pasture golf, over priced
The fairways are patchy, tee boxes are torn up and uneven, and this past weekend the greens were absolutely horrible. I got a great deal on golfnow ($16, morning tee time) so I figured "what the heck" but for the money they charge there are so many other better places to play. Perhaps my expectations were a bit high based on what they charge to play here. I recommend playing here if you can get a discounted rate.
lots of water and woods
lacking grass in fairways--- greens are a pretty color green from a distance, but mostly weeds and very bumpy..
Good value
This isn't a PGA course by any means, but if your goal is to get out and have a nice round of golf without complaining that you didn't get to play a great course for very little money then this is a nice little course. If you want a great course in great condition pay the big bucks and go to one, but don't expect to get a GREAT course for the price you pay here. This course is fun and I like the sunshine, fresh air and playing golf without spending a bundle and this course met my needs and expectations.
Great experience - greens and fairways in good condtion
We are coming back next week and bringing golfers with us to play this course. Guess this says it all.
You Get What You Pay For
I wish I could write a positive review. I cannot. I know the saying is "you get what you pay for". Is this ever the case. I was in Florida for the PGA Show. I wasn't concerned about the "excessive noise from Trap Shooting" as mentioned by GolfNow AFTER check-out. For $8 for 18 with a cart I expected poor conditions. It was what I received. But when you have a course with less than mediocre conditions you better make up for it elsewhere... like friendliness of the staff. I found the staff to be as friendly and welcoming as a "junkyard dog". The conversation was short and terse with no direction given. I had never been there. I was partnered with two locals and I had no issue with the "PoP". IF MORE PEOPLE PLAYED READY GOLF... THERE WOULD NEVER BE "PoP" ISSUES.
I cannot comment on amenities.... I didn't have a chance to take a gander as I was rushed. There might be a range... there might not be. A TON of maintenance would serve Silver Dollar well. It was quite disappointing.
To sum up I wouldn't pay them $8 again. I have since learned that at 42 I might be losing my foot and my kidneys. I am depressed knowing that this might have been my second to last round of golf ever.
(Bear in minds... I do not hold high standards... or am difficult to please coming from eternal winter)
