Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
About
There are three nines at the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club, which can be played individually, consecutively, or as three different 18-hole combinations. Each nine has a unique layout with different challenges but all share the same lush landscape covered with stately trees and water features. The Panther/Bobcat combination offers a mix of narrow and wide fairways, some of which are lined with trees. A few strategically placed bunkers come into play along the greensides and there are also water hazards coming into play on a number of holes. Located just northwest of Tampa along the west Florida coast, the nines represent the best of Florida golf. Silver Dollar also boasts some of the area's most affordable rates, which makes the versatile layouts doubly appealing.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
The Gator & The Panther 9 hole courses. Fun layout & very challenging especially against 2 1/2, 3 club wind in face.
12:45 tee time w/ buddy& his wife for $16.05/ea thru Golfnow. Layout is unique but similar to Placid Lakes CC, Harder Hall CC, & Spring Lake Golf Resort Cougar Trail. Has a nice driving range & practice area. Tee boxes & fairways plush. Small postage greens in Gator 9 nine holes. Larger elevated greens in Panther 9 holes. Greens on both sides rolling true & fairly fast. Golf carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. Will definitely return to play again.
Gator Chomp
Great course at a great price. Love the rural scenery up there. The staff was superb. The Gator ate us up but we faired better on the Bobcat. The Panther was crowded so we elected the Bobcat in order to beat the sunset. Nice club house with very reasoanble drink and food prices and high quality.
plays long on par fives
The course and greens were in good shape. We played in about three hours and and it price was a good value.
Not playing again.
You would have to have a lot of concentration to play next to a trap shoot. Quite unnerving on the back nine.
A great day at Silver Dollar
Its not your resort type of course. This is one of the best courses for the every day golfer.
Go somewhere else
I will never go here again. Greens and fairways in poor shape. Maybe 3 sand traps on the whole course. Not impressed.
Challenging is the surprise
I hadn't played this course in years and was surprised on how many challenging holes the "Dollar" gives you .. Long holes and lots of water here and there make it a real surprise .. not a World Woods fairway but for a local "hitters ballpark" this is your course .. get out the driver and go to town at this course .. long holes and lots of fun !!!
Silver Dollar Golf and Trap Club
First off, the Trap (shooting) Club was far busier than the golf course. Nearby shotguns firing continually through out the morning was annoying to say the least. The golf course appears to be pretty much an over 65 facility where many seniors live and play golf. The playing part of the course itself seems to be well maintained but the course infrastructure is dated (shelters, cart paths, pump houses, pro shop snack bar etc.). Never the less we found the staff friendly and attentive. All of us had a good time ant a great rate.
jan
A beautiful course in excellent condition, older but well groomed, wonderful. Play here often, great value and wonderful staff
Challenging
Great fast fareways, good yardage,
& alot of water.
Had a great time playing there..
PS.. A little buggy..
Better than Expected
I got an amazing deal for this course by booking through GolfNow. $17.68 total for two players doing 18 holes with a cart. The staff in the Pro Shop was pretty helpful and friendly, but the crotchety starter made Mr. Wilson(!!)'s attitude toward Dennis loving. The foxy beverage cart driver wasn't the friendliest, but that certainly didn't stop my brother and I from waving her down on every pass. The course was in pretty good shape, though the lush, manicured greens could have been mowed lower. Although it isn't the most challenging course, it has some pretty long par 4s and 3s when playing from the blues (farthest back), and a good amount of water hazards, especially on approach shots. I will say that whomever decided it was a good idea to combine a golf course and skeet shooting range into one facility better have lost his or her job! Even if firing the person had to be done through sign language... The Silver Dollar website should also include some pictures of the course. It makes first-timers hesitant to give it a try.
great course bad greens.
The course played great but the greens were so thick it was like putting on an adult film star's crotch from the 1970s. They take quite a few holes to get used to. Fun course overall, but cut the greens a little shorter. Thanks.
Silver dime!
I've played this course several times in the past. It's fairly close and reasonably priced. I have never had any issues with the course itself. Even when it was wet it was still playable. However this last trip to Silver Dollar was by far the worst that course has ever played. The Tee's and Fairways were not cut, the Tee's were very sparse. The fairways were so thick even a good shot in fairway was as if your ball was in the rough. The greens were very inconsistent. It was like the course was closing and didn't tell anyone.
Greens are Shag Carpets
Good value - payed 26 dollars for 2 players at 11:50 on Memorial Day (Hot Deal). No one on the course so that was great too. The greens were not real greens - rolled like they were all temporary with regular grass. Some tee boxes were bad from rear tees. Many weed areas that need to be mowed. Good for practice but don't book this to play with your buddies if you want to keep them as friends...
This course is very good.
The fairways were in good shape but the greens were recently aerated making it difficult to putt.
Greens just airated
Just been airated w/ the largest spikes I've ever seen. There was no predictability as to where the ball was going on the green. He did say they dropped the price due to it. The walk up price at 2:oo was $21. I was kind of upset because I paid 23 on golf now
Loud
Course also has skeet shooting so you hear loud gun fire the whole time you're playing. Not very relaxing. Still wondering how people can live there. Lots of water hazards. Bring several extra balls if you are going to play here.
Silver Dollar
There isn't much special to the course. It's relatively easy with a fair amount of dog legs. The greens were in pretty good shape but the tee boxes and fairways were beat up. The gun range next door is quite loud but didn't bother us much.
Sandtrap
A flat course. A lot of skeet shooting going next to course and this made it loud. Greens were fast, and could not stick ball on on a fly, had to hit short and roll the ball on. Good variety of birds, with water in play on several holes.
Hole markers
Like overall, but really wish the would repainted the hole markers, the red is so faded you can not read them ,
