Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Gator/Panther Course
About
Located just northwest of Tampa, Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club sprawls across the lush landscape of the west Florida coast. The club offers three nines: the Gator, the Panther, and the Bobcat. The nines can be played individually for a quick round or in three different 18-hole combinations. The Gator/Panther layout offers a good balance of challenges and player-friendly features. Narrow, tree-lined fairways are complemented by generous landing areas. There are sparkling lakes and ponds that come into play on a few holes and strategically placed bunkers are situated along the greensides. In addition to the three golf courses, Silver Dollar boasts one of the area's most extensive practice facilities, which includes a full driving range, two putting greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sandtrap, and three practice holes.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Worst Condition ive ever played on
If it wasnt for the challenging length and layout of the course i would never golf here again. Ive never thought about getting my money back while golfing, but i did today. The fairways werent cut, patchy, sand patches everywhere. The greens are as bad as the fairways if not worse, they were plugged which they didnt let me know about before booking teetime and they tossed the mud olugs to the side of the greens which added anither challenge. Staff were mediocre at best, guy at the counter looked like he wanted to choke me for being late for a 11 o clock tee time i was 5 minutes lates for with a nice lady a couple holes behind me. The course is also next to a skeet shooting range, the constant shotgun echo throughout the course every couple of seconds was annoying yet amusing seeing as how everything else was so bad obviously the course is next to a clay poundin’ range. The courses comicly awful condition and staff will keep me away for a long time. I would never recommend this course to a child, average golfer or anyone for anything over 10$.
Horrible greens and tee boxes
Sorry, but the greens were recently air-rated.
Paid full price and worst greens in Florida!
First time and last time playing here for me.
Rough Shape
The previous review was exaggerated but not too far off..
The staff was friendly, nice and polite, thats the end of the positives...
Arrived early only to find the range closed due to wetness..
Putting green was smooth, didnt have any flags in it, but had lots of holes cut to putt on. The actual greens were a complete 180 from the practice green.
Tee boxes are very bad, uneven, spotty and small, leaving you very little flat ground to tee off from. Fairways are in bad shape, no 8 inch grass like the previous review stated in the middle of the fairway but there were weed patches with tall strands in the fairway. There is a fallen dead tree on the panther course, but its off to the right side of the fairway, it is an eyesore and makes the hole even tighter..
We played gator/panther and it was backed up from the start, the bobcat seemed to not be used much, with 27 holes to mix in, there should be a much quicker pace...
The gator greens were horrible, full of sand and punch holes, very bumpy and super slow..There should have been an alert for this from golfnow but there wasnt.
The panther wasnt as bad but still slow and bumpy with sand still on the greens.
The layout is decent on all 3 9s but the condition never seems to improve.
Not sure if Ill give it another try or not. Skeet shooting range was full and shotgun blast were non stop.
Horrible condition
This is by far the worst condition I’ve ever seen a golf course in... The one almost bright spot is the tee boxes were in decent condition. The grass in the fairways was 8 plus inches on ever hole and my wife and I spent 5 or more minutes looking for our balls in the MIDDLE of the fairways. Every green had hundreds of plugs which made it almost impossible to put. There was a dead oak tree laying across one of the fairways on the “Panther” course.
Staff was friendly and courteous.
Silver Dollar
Beautiful course set in the country nice course design, nice club house, snack bar and lounge. I highly recommend playing there.
Looking Forward to playing again
Played the Gator & Panther, went out early no waiting took 3 hrs to finish round. Nice layout, some greens small. Greens were a little slow. Looking forward to coming back!
Great value
Not sure about Florida in March but grass was pretty good Lil patchy although greens were gorgeous!! Great value and 27 holes to choose your adventure.
Great 1st Time on Course
Arrived early to for 8:45 Tee Time, around 7:45 to practice on the driving range. Unfortunately it was closed due to Shooting Completion. So we picked up the golf carts, awesome carts new, and loaded up gear. Beautiful course, and changeling. Greens in great shape as were the fairways. Will defiantly refer other golfers to this course, and me and my friends will be back..
Thanks for a great time..

Grass is at a Premium
The greens are immensely improved from previous years but every fairway is some grass and much hard pan, For the elderly who roll the ball onto grass wherever they lie, maybe it works for them. For people playing actual golf, not so much.
Slow
Today we started 20 mins early ahead of a large league. The league pushed us continually. We got behind a foresome of slow people that were yelling at each other. The ranger apologized for the slow pace, saying the group in front was giving him trouble. But nothing was done. We skipped ahead passing the slow group who were oblivious or didnt care for the delay they were causing.
Duck.......
They need to be more organized at the starter position.
They have 3 - 9 holes courses, they put us out behind slower golfers, it didn’t look like the other courses had anyone on them.
Greens need work as well.
Value
Booked with golf now and excellent value for the money .
Booked through Golf Now
We have booked this course two times. Both times we have arrived 15 to 20 minutes early and been rushed onto the course and told that there is a tournament following us. We had to do four holes by a certain time. I like the course but I felt like every time I arrive there it was a rush even though we are early. Paul and Becky.
Nice Course
Fairways were in great condition. Greens where in great conditioning with challenging hole placements. We were sent out in front of a group of 30 and we did not no the course at all so it was a little challenge to stay ahead of them. Overall, it was a great course.
Got Belittled
When I went to the PRO SHOP to ck in the guy that checked me in made a deal (in front of another golfer)about the fact that I did not pay the course any money . I said to him that the course must get something from golfnow or they would not use them he said "we don't get anything from golfnow " I then went out to play feeling bad . Not sure how it works but this is the only time that I have been told this by any pro shop person ! The course was ok !
Great Afternoon on the Silver Dollar Golf Course
We booked a 12:45 tee time / got to the course early - hit a medium bucket of balls ($7.50) / putted around on the practice putting green and started play at the designated time with the starter on hand to monitor things - Course was in good shape for this time of year - Water hazards came into play on many holes but quite manageable - Weather was awesome - After our round we stopped into the onsite restaurant for a couple of cool beverages and a quick bite ($2.50 beer/$1.00 drink and $5.00 chicken fingers) Will most certainly be back - We had a great afternoon !
