Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Gator/Panther Course
About
Located just northwest of Tampa, Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club sprawls across the lush landscape of the west Florida coast. The club offers three nines: the Gator, the Panther, and the Bobcat. The nines can be played individually for a quick round or in three different 18-hole combinations. The Gator/Panther layout offers a good balance of challenges and player-friendly features. Narrow, tree-lined fairways are complemented by generous landing areas. There are sparkling lakes and ponds that come into play on a few holes and strategically placed bunkers are situated along the greensides. In addition to the three golf courses, Silver Dollar boasts one of the area's most extensive practice facilities, which includes a full driving range, two putting greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sandtrap, and three practice holes.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
Great layout, not great shape
I love the layout at Silverthorn. There are very challenging holes and a great variety of dog legs and risk/reward opportunities. I remember playing it 25 years ago when it was immaculatley maintained. I wish I could saty that now. I have played it 4 or 5 times in the past year and keep going back becasue of the layout and the price. However in all the times that I have played it recently, I have yet to see a golf maintanance worker on the course. The bunkers are never raked, the fairways are sparse,, the collars and aprons are terrible, the tee boxes are average on a good day and the greens, normally good are showing some wear lately. I wish they would spent some money on grass seed and fertilizer. Those two items alone would greatly improve the experience.
Greens were great
considering the time of year, with dry fairways, the greens were true & green
Fun day
First time playing the course. Wife and I teamed up with two people who have played the course before. That really helped as there is trouble in key areas of the course. My wife really enjoyed playing as the red tee’s did get some great placements to shorten when needed and take “some” of the water out of play. We put this course on our lists of play again!!
It was freezing.
We made a mistake playing that day. It was cold and wet so I can’t really give a fair opinion of the course. The staff was very friendly.
was a cold, windy day. Allowed to tee off early. Front 9 greens are mostly small and significant slope. Played white tees but course has two more shorter sets. Lots of room on most fairways but some require a proper lay-up to avoid hazards. Great value for our money.
A course to play
I've played this course a few times and its has some great greens (some quite large) and there are a few places that you need to play to a layup but over all if you are near there I would say play it !
Great value
Definitely recommend. The shooting range nearby was distracting but made play interesting.
Great!!
The golf course is in great condition, green, and fairway are in fantastic condition. Found some wed are but it doesn't affect the outcome of the game. Congratulations to the greenkeeper.
Worth the play for the right price
This course is no Pinehurst by any means but for a cheap and quick round this is most definitely not a bad course to play. I can’t recall too many memorable holes but I know there were some good ones. Overall it’s a pretty generic course but I had a great time playing it.
Overall Good
Played at 8AM and we had a fantastic time. Greens were in good condition and so were fairways, some tee boxes were sandy. Good mix of challenging holes, like the almost 600 yarder. Just play it.
Silver Dollar
The course was long, fairways and greens were in good shape
People were friendly and accommodating
It is always in good condition
We have been playing this course every time we come to Florida. Compare to lot of other course around this always are in good shape.
Then is it a really nice place with nice and friendly people’s.
