Pace of play
Golf course is excellent specially the green. The only problem I have is that so many players are so slow.I was not able to finish this course..I started at 2:00 .About six PM.I only up to # 10 hole. That's how slow playing people in front of me.The Marshal not there to speed up the game.I decided to quit playing at 11 hole. Please keep the pace of play.
Terrible tee time management.
Over 6 hours and never made it past the 16th hole. One of my favorite courses but not sure I will go due to waiting 30 minutes or longer to tee off per hole and then waiting ten minutes or more between shots. Such a let down that know Los Angeles county course can choose money over pace of play.
Sad to say
This is a scenic view ocean course but that the only positive. The management books 5somes and allows walkers. They also habitually over book so tee times are negatively effected and the pace of play is a geriatric 6+ hours... if you're lucky. If you're serious about golf don't waste your time here. The 19th hole facilities are old and look it. The updated driving range was severely damaged by a recent rain storm so the western section needs to be repaired. Sadly, none of this is exaggerated.
Pure torture
They overbooked so tee times were late as usual. They book five in a group and allow walkers so the pace of play is a geriatric 6+ hours for 18 holes. Worst pace of play in SoCal. If you want to play golf don't bother with this course. If you want a slow leisurely day with beautiful views and are willing to pay $50 to wait for it then this is your course.
We had a 12:22 tee reservation that ran late into a 1:15 tee off. It took another 3.5 hours to finish nine holes. Went to number ten and there were three groups waiting in front of us with a fourth group on the green. We didn't finish. Pure torture. A disgrace to course management in my opinion.
You don't want to play here on the weekend
This is a course with very nice view. Except for that, the condition of the course is not that great. Poor maintenance. I think it's because it's busy most of the time. The course arranged 5 some group on most of the groups that day. it makes the pace EXTREMELY SLOW. We spent almost 6 hours but only finished 14 holes. There were two groups waiting in front of us in one of the par 3 hole .....
Longest 16 Holes Ever
This course is very scenic but the beauty was lost early when we continued with 20 minute waits off of each tee. You can see how golf is losing the younger generation when it takes 51/2 to 6 hours to play 16 holes. We played only 16 because we ran out of daylight
Los Verdes
The course was in great shape. Greens were moderately quick, fairways were well tended, and the views were priceless. Pace of play was quite nice; our round of 18 was less than 5 hours. I highly recommend this course.
Pace of Play...
I played this wonderful course many times over.
But, somethings never change...
The pace of play, I understand, when you decide to play this course your mind automatically sets into
"PATIENCE" But, it gets bid frustrating...
SlooooooooooooooooooW!!!
In the 4 times that I've played at , weekend and weekday, we've been backed up minimum 1 group, maximum 4 groups. The fastest I've played here was 4:45. The longest was 5:30. I have vowed never to return, but somehow, my friends keep talking me into it. Admittedly, the scenic views are amazing, but I'm there to play golf, not look at the ocean, or Catalina Island.
An ocean view course
Okay, admittedly I only play here once a year around Thanksgiving. And, that probably happens to be the busiest day (it seems that way). But, I am mentally prepared for a long game and settle in for the ride and the view.
The course isn't anything to brag about. A bit of elevation change, few dog legs here and there, reachable par 4, long par 3s, minimal water in play, no surprises on the course... But, what about that view? Trump down the street charges over $200. And, I get to see the Pacific Ocean for around $50? That's a steal. This course is a hidden jewel and should be enjoyed as such. Unfortunately, the locals that are spoiled by seeing this course routinely can only focus on the slowness of the play. Well, I'm from the desert so this stuff is pretty fantastic. Yeah, go play this course. The view of Catalina and the breaching whales in the spring during migration is pretty awesome. And, you're golfing.
So slow
It will be great if you are visiting for a sight seeing, I forgot what Iwas there for because of thesuper slow pace . Bring a picnic basket and some toys then you will have a great time.
yummy
I really enjoyed myself playing this golf course. all the greens were soft and I found them easy to putt on and easy to read. bunkers were all about the same and the fairways were nicein some spots but consisting lumpy in some spots but consisting overall. I enjoyed my lunch there I had a club sandwich and french fries was delicious and the staff was friendly. overall I would have to say that this will be a course I would recommend to any friend or family member.
Rhode Islanders were visiting
I used to live in PV and enjoyed your track often. Quite frankly the pace of play for the first five holes was sickening. But then when we call the pro shop we are advised that there are continual delays between 3 and 5 and quite frankly it did sprea out a bit on the back. Suggest you advise new players that there will be a traffic jam at those holes so they don't get frustrated and want to kill each other or other golfers. Conditions were moderate 2 weak in some areas but you can't beat the view as you know. price was fair. In Rhode Island we would say you had a lot of mamalukes out there. PS. Golf cart died on 16. Brake lock.
Beautiful course with great views of Malibu and Catalina!
Pace of play was good and Marshall did a great job to make sure everything went fine.
Even when it's fast, it's slow.
There are not too many places where one can play a round and have an ocean view like here. Truly spectacular! A moderately challenging layout, with wide fairways. Large greens in good shape, some with moderately difficult breaks. The playing pace is always slow. Did I mention the playing pace is real slow!!! A fast round is about 5 hours... Forget about a 4 hour round. An average weekend round will typically take 6 1/2 hours... Really!
Best conditions in years
I play this course 15 times a year and this was the best conditions I have seen in 5 years. Fairways and tee boxes were cut beautifully and greens were pristine although super fast, 10 on the scale. For 42 bucks and the views of Catalina and Pacific Ocean this course is great! It was a 5 hour round teeing off at 9am only waited on the second and third holes then it got rolling at a good pace, only time its a 6 hour roud is on Fridays after 9am. Great job Los verdes!!
6hrs? Ridiculous.
This course is special and could be a quality experience. Unfortunately there is no Marshall and pace of play is not a priority. The staff should get trained on how to treat guests. Sad but true. Views will only make up for so much. A 6 hour round is not acceptable and gives golf a bad rap. Figure it out.
Very Good But....
Very good course in s great location but very slow pace of play. Need Marshalls to help with pace. Also, they should replace the Golf Shop personnel.
Dry, crusty, hard fairways and rough!
Once again..... an amazing course design ruined by its poor conditions. The greens were OK, pretty firm but scrappy slow and grain pointed every which way making putts impossible to predict on the Poa Annua. Teed off just before 1pm, and it took just over 5 hours, slow start till about the 6th hole then it moved OK - but only because most of the blue tees were all up front at the white so it gave the illusion of playing faster! Respectfully I obeyed the markers and played from them, instead of playing all the way back like I usually do, since I was grouped with some older gents who were very good company. But fair warning - there is hardly any grass out there, especially the rough which is all dried out hard pan caked mud patches. The fairways are fine, they should be dried out and thin, but why not give the rough some water instead so that the ball wouldn't go bouncing into the trees or the next fairway so much? With the severe slopes on some of the holes, it truly is unfair to see a perfectly placed shot into the middle of the fairway bounce sideways and continue rolling deep under the eaves of the trees, instead of being stopped by grassy rough? I would much prefer that there is a 2-inch rough on all sides than be stuck under the dried hard pan caked mud areas under the trees. Wouldn't you? I wish somebody would seriously just take the reins and take care of this place. The guy behind the counter was absolutely unfriendly, had no courtesy, and was a typical County worker automaton with no personality.
9 Holes in 4 hours
Unbelievably slow slow slow, never had such slow play experience anyway in the world.
